Thank you!
Can I just say how much I appreciate this video for getting to the point in a timely manner while also featuring the products just enough. For this reason alone, I decided to subscribe to the channel and look forward to viewing your other videos. Safe travels and see you out there
Thank you for such a great compliment and for the subscription! I'll keep the videos coming!
Came for those essentials, stayed for the voice
hahaha... Thanks!!
Yep
As I get Older I have grown tired of my big top-heavy bike...I've had several ....these days I trailer a much smaller, simpler bike to where I want to ride (XT250). It cuts down on the danger of riding all those miles and all my stuff stays in my truck...I have more fun...because I am not as fatigued by the time I get to my destination...I usually stay in a cheap motel, my wife comes along sometimes and some days she shops and I ride...and somedays we go on big hikes.......good video....I like the drink holder..
Whatever it takes, just keep riding! Thanks and I hope you subscribe, more videos to come.
Great tips just the Mustache alone earns a subscription!
Awesome, thank you! I’ll keep shooting videos and keep the mustache blowing in the wind!
Many thanks for a well thought out little video. Straight to the point and as far as I can see no direct selling like many other TH-camrs. Love every one of your suggestions!

Awesome video! I doubted that I'm gonna see anything new in this video. Seat, shoe covers, and bottle are three excelent things I had never thought about. Thanks!

You’re the mustache hero! These tips will help me a lot. The water bottle holder is so clever 😫
Hahahahh. Once you see it, it makes so much sense!
You had me on the silicon shoes covers 👏
Took me a long time to find those, but they are awesome! More videos in the works, please subscribe if you haven't already!
Great video! I completed a 5200 mile trip this summer and like you, used the mesh seat cover. It was fantastic!! My choice of dry bag was a Moose Racing 40L which is inexpensive and it worked awesomely! Myself, I love a tank bag and did most of my charging with a dual outlet USB charger within that tank bag. I did choose to bring a battery bank to charge things at night so I wouldn't have a draw on the R1200GS battery at night. Great tips!!
That is awesome, sounds like we've got a pretty similar approach! Please subscribe, I've got more videos in the works!

GSA Rider here, too. Water bottle holder idea was great. I've occasionally used a Camelback style bladder in backpack. It was a bit of a production to fill & clean. (Used to fill w/ ice at McDonalds. Now the fountain drink machines are gone.) Cycling bottle is easier, simpler. Love to hear of other ideas to stay cool in Summer. I'm in South Florida.
I've thought about the camelbak too. Aside from the cleaning issues, if you wear it cuts back on airflow and if you strap it on the bike it gets in the way. I lived in Naples when I bought my first bike, so I feel you with the heat. Please subscribe, I've got more videos on the way!

I chose to use a Camel Back bladder in a back pack as well. I too stopped at McDonalds or other fast food restaurants to fill it with ice. I would usually ask to buy a large water and they usually charged less than a dollar. That got me a cup to transfer the water and ice into the bladder much easier and I could do it at a table instead of at the fountain.
While I was passing through Colorado this July temperatures ran as high as 115 degrees. I knew I was going to run into hot temperatures so prior to my trip I purchased a Ergodyne Chill-Its 6665 Evaporative Cooling Vest off of Amazon for less then $40. That proved to be a great investment and kept me cool and pretty comfortable for 3-4 hours at a time. Once it dried out, I'd stop at a filling station and re-soak in the washroom sink.
@@rickyoung360Great idea on the cooling vest... living in Georgia, it won't do me much good here, but I would have made life much better in the 90+ weather out west on my last long trip.
Never thought about the silicone boot/shoe covers. I gotta get myself some.
They really work great!
Very helpful video, especially the boot covers. Have to pick up a pair of those.

Preparing for my first trip
You're welcome... Enjoy your first trip, and check out my other video on what I packed for a 3 week trip (and of course subscribe if you like them).
@@mustachemoto certainly will and already subbed. Thanks again :)
I used to have similar boot covers - bought in the 90s but were made of rubber which deteriorated and became hard overtime in storage. The significant difference was mine were much longer up the boot - probably half way up the shin. Much better if pants slid up or stepped in a puddle as mentioned.
Also handy to protect good shoes if you use your bike as a primary means of transport and going to a function.
I wish these came up higher, but I haven't been able to find any like that. My rain pants are extra long, so I haven't had a problem.
Your mustache is truly inspiring . . .

@@mustachemotoNew subscriber here brother Ben, that’s a killer stache you got there. Could there be a grooming video in the future? It’ll surely be appreciated!👍🏻
@@quirogan I just let the wind do the grooming!
I have two of those dry bags. Both also 66L. Different brand but looks and functions exactly the same. One to pack all my camping gear, the other to pack my fly fishing stuff and anything else I would need to be on the road for a week or so. Easy to pack on either one of my bikes. None of my stuff has ever gotten wet. I think I paid around $50 each on Amazon. I also use a Butt Buffer air gel cushion. I wouldn’t ride for hours without it. Especially out here in the Southwest. Good video sir!
They're really fantastic bags, especially for the price. I'll check out the Butt Buffer, thanks for the suggestion!
After about three years of use, the clear window ID holder on the side of the bag separated and lets in water. I had to replace the bag with another that doesn't have an ID holder.
@@kanuklastman3436 thanks for the head's up. I'll be sure to keep an eye on that.

Thank you... I have to pinch myself sometimes when I see it!
Great bike😊
It sure is!
I have Wild Heart saddle bags on my R1150GS and my DR 650. Spacious rugged multiple mount options and a good dollar value.
I've got a set too... I use them for camping/offroad ( th-cam.com/video/WdPKcnw-9h4/w-d-xo.html ) and the aluminum luggage for daily/road use. They really make quality gear that's an amazing value.
That bicycle water bottle and holder is genius! I've always put a water bottle in the tank bag, but then you still have to stop. Never thought of using something like that
I kinda hate the way it looks, but I use it ALL the time!
Of course, you need the $500 engine guards to which you can mount the water bottle holder...
Good point... My last two adventure bikes both came with the guards. If there's no attachment point on your bike, go with the CamelBak or similar. Years ago on my SV650 I would put the water bladder in my tank bag so I didn't have to wear it.
Good video… finally I found some one with decent moustache which is not covered with wax..
hahahah, 100% unadulterated!
Good info..

Nice ideas 👍
Thank you!
Liked the video for that Moustache
Good short vid 👍
Regarding the seat cover...I've already came across a ton of waaaay different reviews and customer experiences, from which one thing is sure: it either works or not at all.
Some praise it, many don't at all. No airflow, no heat dissipation, no water safe seat whats more the exact oppossite of it, several users reported they got more wet as it did hold up the water underneath and they were basicaly sitting in a "lake".
TL&DR
Don't expect superb experience, try it for yourself and see if it works for you or not.
Glad you liked the video! It has worked well for me. I wonder if weight has anything to do with how well it works. I’m only 125 pounds… maybe heavier people compress it too much? Who knows, but with as cheap as they are, that’s good advice to try and decide for yourself.
Wasn't sure I'd take advice on cheap accessories from a guy on a big GS with a cup holder, but I think your booty idea is genius. I've tried so many different options. I've ordered a pair. Hoping it works!
hahah, yeah, the GS throws inexpensive out the window, doesn't it! That being said, I got a great deal on it. BTW, my other bike is a $1,400 2003 DR650. Keep watching and I'll keep posting!
My booties arrived today. I was worried they might not fit over my MX boots, but they totally do. I've taken the rubber off my pegs. Do I need to worry about the teeth on the pegs cutting the booties? Any hacks? Years ago, I went to Norway, to Nordkap, and it rained every day. I took to wearing plastic bags on my feet these booties would have been perfect. Also, I have a full face helmet, so can't use your cup holder, but I take oil in an aluminum drinks cannister and I might use your idea for that! Thank you. @@mustachemoto
My GS has metal foot pegs with no rubber. It starts to wear through in the arch after wearing them several times, but they haven't ripped and since that's on the bottom it doesn't let any water in. If your pegs are really sharp it might be a problem, but I figure I'll just replace mine every year or two if they get too worn.
Thank you so much. I’m heading up to Alaska, and I think it’s gonna rain! These will really help me out. Thank you so much.
I carry a lithium battery jump box that doubles as a charger, flashlight and emergency strobe. I also bought a digital tire pump the size of pack of cigarettes thats amazing. Im currently exploring auxiliary fuel options.
I have a jump box, but never carry it (I'll probably learn my lesson one day). I've also got a digital tire pump that's a little bigger than that and has a flashlight and battery bank, but the battery bank can't recharge my computer. As for extra fuel... I've got a GS Adventure, so I've got an 8 gallon tank. I hope I don't need more than that! BUT, I've heard great things about these fuel bladders: amzn.to/3LJav8O
Love the tank stickers....happen to recall where you got them?
Thanks... bike came like that! I bought it used, but I'm pretty sure those are factory. It's a 2020 GSA HP editiong.
Good info. I do long trip too, may I add for navigation… get a cheap dedicated android rugged phone with a big battery capacity.. that way you can ride whole day without plugging it in to a usb outlet. No cables and waterproof. No sim card needed just pair it to your phone to go online, and you can have google map, waze.. and all other apps running. I even run relive on it.. to record and snapshot marker but do the final relive video on my main phone with photos in it.
I thought about buying a dedicated phone for nav, but my iPhone works well and I just slide it into a ziploc bag if it's raining. If I used an android I wouldn't see incoming calls and txts. I may still look at getting an android for offroad navigation.
Great video.
Is your GSA a factory lowered suspension?
It is. I'm 5'6" with a 30" inseam and it's just about the perfect height. I'm on the balls of my feet, but it's very manageable. Please subscribe if you haven't, more videos to come!
Good video. Subscribed. You mentioned you used velcro for the drink holder? The pics Amazon show it needs to be screwed in to something. Can you explain in more detail what you did? Thanks.
Glad you liked it and subscribed! It actually bolts to an included plastic and rubber mount with Velcro straps included. If you’re mounting it on a bike with screw holes, you remove the plastic and mount it directly.
Dude… your mustache is legendary
Thank you!!
Me like your vibe! Great video! Quick Subscribe to you!!🤟🏼
Thank you!!!
spend some $ on boots. I have a pair of Sidi canyons. 150K miles of riding in them. Lot's of time in the rain. Never had wet feet from rain.
I've definitely spent some money on them in the past and gave up. I'll take a look at the Sidis, thanks.
How is the elastic holding up on your Danfeng mesh seat cover? I've had a different variant for about ~20K miles/2 years of high-altitude solar exposure/year-riding (when not garaged/covered), and the elastic's on it's last legs. (It's also heartwarming to become acquainted with yet another frugal rider ;) ... $80 plus S/H for more-mainstream seat covers just ain't gonna happen on my watch; too many mouths to feed & a cycle addiction to maintain :D)
I've only had the seat cover for four months or so (but I've put about 13K miles on it). It's holding up fine for now. If it last two years, that's pretty decent for the price. You call me frugal, my wife calls me cheap! Either way, I'm all about saving money anywhere I can and I fully understand the motorcycle addiciton!
BMW Gravel boots .. super comfy, never leaked in 7 years …
I'll have to look into those, thanks!
Don't forget a Motowinch, to help you lift your bike back up in case of a fall. Thanks for the vid!
HAHAHAH, Yeah, it's a heavy bike and I've had to lift it a few times!
@@mustachemoto Falling usually happens in slippery conditions, when your boots can't have proper grip. So, having a pair of strap-on ice rampons, and a Motowinch, gives you greater chances to get back to riding.👍 Also, many riders may have back problems, or tendinitis, etc..., and anything that helps is a big asset.
@@techtoth1 I'll check it out, thanks
Not indispensable if you group ride, but if you are on an alone trip I believe it's a must. Because you usually end up flipping the bike on loose terrain, mud, skiddy surface, where all lifting skills say goodbye. @@mustachemoto
You said "Double thick bottom" and my wife said "I got a double thick bottom, that was my nickname in middle school!"
I spit my coffee out when I read your comment! Thanks for sharing and please subscribe!
If your feet get wet in waterproof boots, you should look at how you've secured the pant cuff around the boot. If it's loose and/or creeps up, water's going to get in over the top and wick down.
Great point. I've got extra long rain pants, so not a problem for me, but I noticed that on my riding buddy. He ended up buying a pair of waterproof gaiters and those work great for keeping the tops of his boots AND the bottoms of his pants dry. Please subscribe if you haven't, I've got more videos in the works!
I like you, sir.

I didn’t pay attention to anything. Too distracted by one of the most glorious mustaches I’ve seen in my entire life.
Hahhahaha, thank you sir!
Was considering the silicone boot covers, but these have one of (if not THE) highest failure rates of any similar product on Amazon.
I've had great luck with them. After maybe 20 times wearing them I did have some small prick holes in the sole (the GSA foot pegs are pretty aggressive), but they still keep the water out and haven't torn. I'm sure they won't last forever, but for the price I'm very happy, even if I have to replace them once a year or so.
1st thot,,, damn , Sam Elliot on a GS.
Nice informative video.
Hahahah. Glad you liked the video!
Sealskins would allow you to go through water crossings, and walk into water to check for your line, without getting your feet wet. My MX boots are mesh and my feet are still dry.
That's a good idea if I'm going to be doing a lot of crossings. I bought a pair to put on if my boots get soaked during a ride, .but my feet get way too hot and sweaty to wear them all the time.
@@mustachemoto In the summer I don’t mind if they get wet, but in the colder months they keep the, dry and warm. There really isn’t any good summer solution I’ve found.
Link for power bank? One posted seems to lead to duffle
Sorry about that. I just corrected the link.
thank you. I would say that silicon boots works with waterproof pants. without waterproof pants it's only half of solution. imho.
100%. I was just assuming everyone had, or knew about waterproof pants already.
40l vs 60l? Is it worth it to go with 40l dufflebag with only short trips in mind, or would you recommend sticking to 60? I have old 650gs single cylinder.
Great question. If you pack light and/or won't be camping, the 40L would probably be enough. On the other hand, the 60L can be cinched down, so you don't have to fill it up on shorter trips. But... when there's space, I always tend to keep throwing things in, so the 40L would force me to not overpack. Keep watching and I'll keep posting!
@@mustachemoto Thanks! :)
I purchased the same seat cover, and I would not call it “Cheap” in price. It would not fit properly on my 2022 RT. When attempting to place the seat back on the bike, the seat cover’s velcro straps covered the metal bar under the seat and prevented the seat front locking down into place.
I thought $15 was pretty cheap and on the GSA it fit well. I think it would be a tight fit if I put the passenger seat cover on too.
@@mustachemotoThe one I purchased was from “Wind Rider”. It cost me $65 and does NOT fit. I apologize, as I went back and listened to your beginning again, and you said “Air Flow”. Wow - at $19.95 (And it fits), that IS a good price. Thank you.
@@illiyakuryakin3092 no worries. $65 would be a bit much for the seat cover.
@@mustachemoto I agree, especially for one that does not fit.
I bought that seat cover and found it useless on my seat. I went with a cover that blows up. Those dry bags are absolutely necessary. I love mine.
I started with an inflatable seat cover and switched to the mesh! My seat is pretty comfortable to begin with, so maybe that's the difference. Please subscribe, I've got more videos in the works.
@@mustachemoto I think that's the problem. The Triumph Tiger seat is horrible to begin with so I'm having to use the inflatable.
İş that water bottle get hot from the engine ör road?
The engine doesn't heat it up really, but on a 90+ day the water does get pretty warm after a few hours.
Can you give an insight into the height difference after adding this seat cover? Also do we slip or slide on the seat during breaking?
I didn’t notice any difference, but I guess it might add 1/4” or less.
I followed your link to the seat cover, but there are two options. I have a 2019 R1250 GSA. Do you know which of the two options (the $15.98 or $22.60 is the right one? Thanks@@mustachemoto
But did you do the 5K, 1/2 Marathon or the full marathon??

When did Geraldo Rivera get into outdoor reviews?
hahahaah
What is the motorcycle you are using for the video...?
Its a 2020 BMW R1250GS Adventure
@@mustachemoto Thanks for the info..
As they say: "The cheapest thing on a BMW motorcycle is the rider!" 🤣
In my case? 100%!
Question for anybody: Does the Airflow seat cover increase seat height? If so, then how much increase? Maybe it scrunches down with nominal increase?
It probably adds less than 1/4”. Basically it isn’t noticeable.
@@mustachemoto: thank you so much. This small height increase is okay.
4:00 Just buy a pair of Daytonas and be happy
Thanks, I'll check them out for winter and for when I know I'll be riding in the rain, but my feet sweat so badly in the summer that I have to have something that breathes. Please subscribe if you haven't, I've got more videos in the works!
two plastic bags and aerotape for the legs, military transport bags always good, no power bank when you have a motorcycle battery instead long usb cable, paper maps, water is good, instead the mash leather seat or sheep fur, everything works for 39year, all you need is god will and spirit
I've done all that before, but a little preparation sure makes the miles easier!
Only need one item… a phone to book a hotel and order a pizza.😎
Where's the fun in that???
Nice work. Eat a cheeseburger.
Thanks!
Do they they did back when it was actually a lifestyle, wear whatever you own and “borrow” from a clothesline.😂😂😂
