Just recently updated Windows/Nvidia driver and lost all my Nvidia/graphics settings. Gave it a shot resetting myself and was only getting 45 FPS max (Ryzen 9 (5900),Rtx 4080Super, 64 Gb Ram, HP reverb G2) for a couple weeks. Followed you guidance in this Video and was up to a consistent 90 FPS and looking great. Occasionally getting 10.0 and over of APP Gpu, so I might have to dial a few things back. Thanks !!!!

You sir are the puter hero of my day. I've spent thousands for this cough simulator. With much disappointment. Think 1080 gpu pc, to 3080, to 4090 and I just today feel like it's coming together. Thank You.. I didn't know such setting exist. Modern day hero walking. please clap.

Ok, after messing with settings now for over a month, following every contradictory guide and YT video, I have hopefully figured it out for my system...maybe it will help you: 4070ti/5800X3D/32GB RAM/W10/Quest 3. I did have a 5600X, and it was fine too...the 5800X3D upgrade is HUGELY over-rated, and actually drops frames in some games from the 5600X.
The very first thing to do is set it to VR graphics in the DCS system tab. Then go up from there, seeing if you like DLSS or MSAA. I settled on 2X MSAA/PD of 1.1 (in-game setting), textures both on HIGH, clouds HIGH, view distance HIGH, shadows MEDIUM (and Flat for objects), water LOW/MEDIUM. These are the big ones. There are other settings like grass that I just turn OFF because if it's on at all, you get micro-stutters on the terrain, even up high.
The only thing that smoothed out the experience to give me a steady 72 FPS and no more stuttering was setting the Encode Bitrate higher in ODT (as he does in this video). I started at 960, and have dropped it to 500 now and I don't see any difference between the two, but I am still testing. Magically the stuttering stopped! OpenXR Toolkit/Tray Tool, all that nonsense made ZERO difference. The only thing nice about the Toolkit is the ability to adjust the picture (saturation, etc.). Turbo mode did work, but now it just freezes and crashes DCS, even when you set it in the menu before loading into a module.
Do these things first before pulling your hair out trying to figure out the utter sh!tshow that is DCS VR and the clown comments you'll get from the no-life trolls in the ED forums.

The cable is gigabits (1/8th of a gigabyte) per second, not gigabyte. You can tell by the small b vs the capital B. It's tradition to measure networking in bits rather than bytes for some reason. Most of the time the difference doesn't matter, but I have seen people get confused by it since a lot of systems give you download rates in bytes, so people wonder why their 80Mb/s connection keeps maxing at 10MB/s and things of that nature.

Fantastic video, which has helped me more than any video thus far! Would you be so kind as to instruct me how you get your VR hands to work in cockpit without the pointer? It appears you actually use your fingertips to adjust the mirror and some of the buttons and switches. Yes, I do have a high-fidelity airframe, the F-15E by RAZBAM. . . Thanks for any help.

      @eggrovr2733  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hello Aries :
Thank you for the feedback !
I'm happy that this guide worked well for you .
As for VR hands without the pointer ,
just apply the same settings as I did near the end of the video .
The reason that you don't see the pointer , is that I simply just pull the action trigger near the dials , although I could just as easily use the pointer at a distance.
Just point your Index finger , where you would like to interact with the A/C cockpit and press the action trigger .
      I hope that helps .
Please enjoy , and fly safe 🦅

HP G2 Why does Crazy settings Work? Set First Regedit Window to run with all cores unlocked, Set OpenXR Developers Toolkit for windows Mixed Reality Custom Render setting to 190% NEXT Inside OpenXR Toolkit Companion Set Turbo mode ON then Make sure Custom Resolution override is ON and set the 1st resolution to 4090 the second number will auto set so do not worry about it. NEXT Inside DCS turn DLSS on and set it as you wish BUT also try just using the others as a test also later. My GPU is a 4090 Aero and my CPU is a AMD 5800X3D and 64G of System Mem. I get the Sharpest VR settings in the HP G2 almost like it changes the headset into a new more powerful version. I have the Sharpest in the Cockpit settings this way and FPS in DCS 2.9 I have NOT capped my FPS yet but that is my next test to make.

    Hi Eggro VR
Another excellent tutorial. I am going to spend some time checking,/adjusting my settings. I have the HP Reverb G2 and a pretty much identical PC as you, as you know, so it should be easy to follow. I have a question about Process Lasso - when I run it do I need to be in a mission in DCS or just have DCS running? I tried it last night and with a mission running I ended up chasing the bars along until I got bored! I got up to processor 13, and if I disabled that, it just jumped to 14. I wound it back and disabled 1 - 8 as you did originally.
Regarding overclocking, I changed the settings on both my CPU and GPU having followed your tutorial some time ago. That was the tutorial where we changed the GPU fan settings to max them out. Is there a way of putting the CPU and GPU settings back to default. I believe we used EVGA Precision X1 for the GPU and MSI Afterburner for the CPU.
Again, nice work my man, and thanks again. BTW - my Bigscreen VR is on it's way 😁
    Nial

    • @eggrovr2733
      @eggrovr2733  ปีที่แล้ว

Very nice on the Big Screen Beyond:)
I'm excited for you , my friend 😀
That HMD runs with the best VR HMD's today !
Regarding your CPU OC , the best way to set this back to default is from your Bios .
Just restart your PC , spam delete key , and click the f5 key to reset to default, then f10 save . After your PC restarts , you will have to adjust your XMP profile again and any other adjustment from your Bios that your comfortable with, for your configuration.
With regards to Process Lasso , I wound up chasing Cores 8-11, and then had to park Core 3 too lol 😆
Which in my case solved the issue , but I have read tons of posts regarding the MT tuning and it will be resolved in the near future .
Maybe try just parking Core 8 and see if that solves the issue with Micro Studders . I realize that your preference, like me , is to keep using Edge 2.9 with the features available , yet some report that rolling back and not using Open Beta , did resolve the issue ...which for me , I did try , and it does really work perfectly ...minus DLSS and the other features .
The GPU OC from X1 , should just reset back to default with each time you exit the app, but if you have set to permanent, just disable that and reset the app.
I would just use a custom fan profile, which will only ramp up during heavy sessions of Simming .
Please keep me posted , as to how the Beyond plays with this Sim .
I have only heard good things about that HMD !
Thank you so much for the view and the kind words , my friend .
Hopefully this helps you out !

DCS vr for me is unusable as far as dogfighting is concerned. I can get the cockpit to look great, but anything beyond my wingtips is a blurry, shimmering, semi-transparent mess. I can't distinguish any aircraft type until they are very close, like 300 meters/yards away. At 3/4 of a mile (1.2km) an aircraft appears as a perfect little black square!? I can get 45-90 fps, 5-10ms frametimes, but nothing so far makes any difference to the quality of other aircraft appearance. I've spent more than 30 hours trying different settings and guides over the past 6 months.

Hy thank you for your tutorial. I'have a G2 for DCS and Q2 for the family. I'm wondering If I sell both and by a Q3. Q3 is better than G2 ? I have a RTX3070ti and I would like to upgrade. What do you think about RTX4070Ti 12Go is enough ?

    • @eggrovr2733
      @eggrovr2733  ปีที่แล้ว

Hello ,and thank you so much for the view and comment 😊
If you were to upgrade your GPU ,
I would consider the 4080 over the 4070ti just for that extra Vram and HP.
That said , I would keep an on sales for either of those GPU's and pull the trigger when you're ready.
With regards to the Q3 over the G2 , I wouldn't say that it's better than the G2 but an entirely different beast .
The G2 is far more comfortable / has a slightly higher resolution albeit ...a very small sweet spot / way better over ear speakers / is PCVR/ over compression (MQ3)
Yet the Q3 has edge to edge clarity / pancake lenses also if you don't mind compression, than the Q3 is a safe bet.
The motion reprojection/ASW.. is far better than that of any other HMD that I've tried , so far/WMR.
Also, please be aware that I've had 3 Q3's and all of which have had issues with either overheating and stuck pixels .
Honestly It's really hard to recommend the Q3 for now because of those issues .
If you do pull the trigger , and get a Q3 , please check for stuck / dead pixels because there are a lot in the wild as of now .
All that aside , the mixed reality feature is pretty cool and having that XR2 Gen 2 Chip with some new Q3 updated games on the horizon for me was a no brainer .
Ultimately , it's for your use case scenario...but in my, case the Q3 has been pretty awesome for DCS VR and every other PCVR and stand alone game so far!
      Thanks again :
Please keep me posted as to your final choice and if you have any other questions , always feel free to comment .

It will also shuffle the prices of remaining stock of non Super cards. nvidia is expected to do so around CES in January, so I would wait...

      Hello and welcome :)
My opinion is that 90 Hz is optimal , although yes I do agree that if you do lower your HMD to 72 Hz , you can bump up your graphics , yet with the OXRTK and the 4090 , I say why lower your Refresh Rate when a stable 90 fps is easily achieved with this guide .
All in all, try both and see which suits your needs better . I think that you will find that 90Hz just looks SO much better !
      Good luck Alpen 😊

With your visible range set all the way to low, which I think is horrible, this tremendously relieves load off the CPU GPU when playing dcs. I'd be curious to see your setting Max or just one step below. Where I currently have mine. It's nice to look out and not watch stuff being built in front of you as you're flying. I find that incredibly annoying. And mostly unrealistic.

    • @eggrovr2733
      @eggrovr2733  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hello William,
I thought that I brought that up in this video . Well , either way , I do bump that up depending on the map or module that I fly .
Also, that statement is rather vague,
because there are so many variables with regards to setting adjustments for this Sim in VR and the effects on your Frametime and stability .
It seems that a lot of folks claim that they max their settings and still maintain stability 🤣 with no
proof to share with the community.
That said, I can easily max my settings with ASW locked @ 45 FPS,
and mostly maintain stability ....but motion reprojection comes at a cost .
Anyway , thanks for the comment and view .

I'm still figuring out whether I like the Q3 over the G2.
For the G2, I had 1.0 PD in the OXR Tools, and a 1.1-1.2 in the DCS PD. This gave me a very clear and crisp setting. (This was even with DLSS on)
For the Q3, to even get close to the same clarity in the center, I had to set my PD (in ODT) to 1.4 and my DCS PD to 1.3, and it was still a little blurry
No clue what I was doing wrong.
A secondary question, do you know if the "Pixels Per Display..." value stacks with the "Graphics Preferences" resolution (ex. 1.0-1.5) in the Oculus program, or does it override the other?

      Hello :
      Welcome to Eggro VR .
At first , I was on the fence also ..whether to even buy the Q3 .
Now that I have, and have tested between the G2 and Q3 ...honestly I would not go back to Fresnel Lenses and the small sweet spot on the G2 , but with regards to the clarity and lack of compression on the G2 / DP cable ...it's a hard sell .
I for one , really enjoy the Q3 / edge to edge clarity ( pancake lenses ) yet even still the G2 at the center focal point has it beat , and being solely a PCVR HMD wins in that aspect too...without the need to stop for a recharge 😅
Regarding PD on two different apps 🤔 Honestly just set one or the other .
I have to ask what is your Render Scale @ in OXRTK set to , for the Q3 ?
Maybe , try to bump that up if you have the headroom to do so , which will yield better visuals in your Q3 .
Thank again for the visit and comment .

      Hey Bjorn and Happy Holidays🎉
I'm very happy that this guide was able to help you to achieve stability.
      Regarding your GPU (3080)
is still a Very good GPU btw,
and I would consider an upgrade soon , yet the 50 series is not terribly too far off and with that said , the 40 series will drop in price by then , to which I would pull the trigger on either 50 series or an RTX 4090 , just for that extra VRam.
It's hard to recommend an HMD ATM over the G2 because the G2 is still very relevant .
The MQ3 has been awesome for my use case scenario, and for DCS it's an upgrade over the G2 although most folks would disagree because of the compression 😮
That said the MQ3 with the settings provided in the video ...absolutely blew me
      away.

That's funny that you bring that up , as I experience the same issue with audio studder with anything over 600 bitrate.
I have tried different ways to adjust for the intermittent studder on DCS MT version 2.9 , with even going back to ST version of this Sim / disabling HT in bios ect and of course core parking using Process Lasso , which in my case provided the best results without having to roll back .

@@eggrovr2733 Thanks about processor lasso. I downloaded it and noticed in VR same as you CPU 8 was at 100%, parking it then resulted in CPU 9 was at 100%..each time I parked one of these it went all the way up to CPU #11. After all these were parked, then I saw one of the random e cores was at 100%..not sure what it means but it looks like DCS MT version is not sharing proper load for me and my 13900k. Always at least one core at 100% and others just not doing much. In VR I'm seeing only about 5% CPU usage.

It definitely is an issue with Core usage , and as you saw in this video ...I experienced a very similar result , having to chase down cores to finally manage without studders .
It sounds like this issue for you isn't resolved by this method though . I would encourage you to roll back the update if your still experiencing micro studders . Which sort of blows 🤔 but I have tried the roll back and ...it does alleviate the issue at hand , without having to disable cores .
Atleast this way, you can still enjoy this Sim until this issue is resolved .

      Hello and welcome,
Firstly, launch DCS in 2D on your monitor and go to the settings icon.
From there, check ✔️ ✅️ the box that says launch in VR.
After that is done, follow the step in this video, particularly on the part where I enable my VR hands , and try to un-check your Virtual Hands.
Also...if you are launching via link/ PCVR, please be sure to use USB 3.1 port and a compatible cable.
Also, maybe unplug your HOTAS and try to launch DCS in VR again after those steps, just to try and troubleshoot the issue.
I would try disabling any Bluetooth devices that could be interfering with the Sim and launching in VR.
I really hope that this helps to alleviate the issue.

I don't understand the 90fps magic number fever, specially with a 4090 and a quest 3. With quest 3, with the incredibly smoth ASW you don't need 90fps to have a butter fluid experience. I dont get the point for using VR. I did use VR with DCS and i dont want to low down my settings with my NASA PC. I did not invest thousand of dollars to play on low resolution. The other thing is, how many hours do you play DCS pro session? When i play Multiplayer as example, i need 2-3 hours at last. Now imagine to wear a VR Device 3 hours? I did so and my headache was like the worst i ever had, my eyes were red like devil and i always felt sick. After playing in VR i was not able to read text on my monitor. when you wear VR Device, those two monitors are 2-4 mm from your eyes, imagine you look on your pc monitor from 1 cm??
VR is nice, but it will damage your period if you use it regular. Go back to trackir and big monitor, thats it. You can enjoy DCS in Ultra Settings without issues. Why you guys stuck on VR? I tried it and i regret. Btw i believe VR is good for real pilots when they start training, then can use VR for 30 Minutes to train some skills or to learn the system. I saw many videos from real pilots using VR for training. After training they go fly in real, so there is no issue.
