Compliments to both the student and the teacher on this. I'm just getting into DCS and will be playing with the F-16 a bit.....this is great..thank you!
I strive for this level of professionalism and patience during remote sessions when assisting with IT issues, it is far more difficult than it looks. Well done!
Immediately subbed for that INS groundspeed readout on the DED. I'm just starting DCS as well, and this content is phenomenal so far. Little things like that are so incredibly helpful.
Great video. Very calm and relaxed teaching. It's brain overload when learning these jets. I have helped a few people get in the air on dcs, pairs take off, formation etc. really helps to be calm as they can really get tied up and overloaded. Well done to the guy, he did well
This is super helpful. I have about 80 hours in the DCS F16 and consider myself proficient, but I learned a lot from this video. Would appreciate more.
Thank you so much for putting this on TH-cam just now getting back into my F-16 as a beginner. That’s the most detailed information I’ve seen so far. I’m grateful that you took the time and patience to help us all out again thank you.
Great instruction, sir. Very well articulated and patient, which can be really important for a novice learner in a complex situation like this. I am going to be watching more of your videos to learn about flying the Falcon. Cheers!
I'm glad I found this. All of the little tips that aren't explained in the tutorials are gold. I've been reading the manual and Chuck's guide, but it's hard to retain a lot of that information without situational context to go with it. The manual and written guides are nice for reference when there's something specific I want to know, but this format is much better for learning, at least for me. Thanks for posting this stuff!
Nice work. Just started flying the Viper again. Having started DCS in the A10C for sure helped with the Viper. Good to see newer pilots getting into DCS...keep em comin
thanks for this video bro, got my first HOTAS and IR tracking coming in the mail your channel is a fantastic resource. I imagine if the niche this game covers was more populated you would have 100k+ subs easily, but most people are more interested in simpler games, unfortunately. Anyway, thanks a ton, you're the best.
Step1, Stop thinking of it as a game XD its a simulator through and through. Good luck, use your kneeboard and run through your procesess without any shortcuts everytime. you'll get it
It's the flow rate. So small changes in throttle and altitude make a significant difference. Larger differences make bigger changes. It is usually somewhere between 4000 and 60000 pounds of fuel per hour.
Yeah, i think this will be a journey with lots of frustrating moments. Learning the basic aviation stuff (keeping altitude, changing altitude while keeping speed, orientation, knowing difference between fly by wire and analog, basic knowledge about how to aviate a plane [rudder use for example xd]) would be far better in a cessna rather then in a fighter jet. Would be interesting to know where he is at now with the F-16 or with sim flying at all.
Bro help me in the F18 I’m a marine vet and worked on F18’s. I have winwing hotas MIP and rudder pedals. I need help with overhead breaking weapons and formation flying. I’m using quest 3
I'd be very interested in learning the next stages. I know the stuff in this vid - getting the jet into the air, navigating, bombing things, and landing. I think at this stage I know most of the jet's systems. What I don't know is when to use what - what tactics to employ. BVR and SEAD/DEAD tactics would be especially useful. There's tons and tons out there on BFM, so that's not really needed. But yeah, I know how to do thing with jet, now I need to know what to do.
To stop the micro-freezes, screen hesitation tearing. Go to device manager. Scroll down to Software devices. Expand, you should see Microsoft Association Root Enumerater. Right click on that. and disable it. You may or may not need to restart your computer. Problem should be solved.
Hi Spud, I joined your Patreon in hopes to get some one on one training. Will you get a hold of me? I see there is Discord access. But not details what the channel is or any login info. Any help is appreciated. Thanks!
Being Fly by wire doesn't mean it self trims. All flight control trimming is done by the pilot. The DFLC will do different scheduling for certain parameters but has nothing to do with trim.
Yes it actually does, the F-16 FLCS auto-trims for 1 G at any attitude, speed and altitude, this is why you do not use manual pitch trim on takeoff and landing
@@Spudspike I was a crew chief on the viper for 9 years and never heard of that. The DFLC takes AoA data and drives the LEF’s and it inputs rudder when firing the gun if in certain parameters to counter the torque of the gun rotating but it doesn’t auto trim the flaperons or stabilators.
@@ja1cspikes Ok that's all well and good but from a pilot's perspective especially for teaching new DCS players, the jet is always seeking 1G and moves the control surfaces in such a way to seek that 1G loading on the aircraft regardless of aircraft attitude. This in stark contrast to say a 737 or C-172 that requires manual trim input to retain strait and level flight etc. So the F-16 is "auto Trimming" from the pilots perspective to maintain that 1G loading at all times. The FLCS does not move the Trim wheels to accomplish this it just does it automatically, the trim wheels and trim hat just changes the commanded G. So in essence its much easier to teach someone by telling them it auto trims because you do not have to trim the aircraft to maintain level flight
@@Spudspike When there is no control input, the DFLCC is making constant adjustments to the control surfaces to maintain the last stable position until more input is made on the side stick. If you ever get the chance to get close to an F16 on the ground at an airshow, you can see the surfaces make very small stutters after a movement. The engineers who designed it are geniuses. The DFLCC schedules flight controls differently dependent on aircraft configuration. Trim however is setting a load on a control surface to maintain a set airspeed or attitude that will require frequent adjustment.
Hey man, I was a patreon sub for about 6 months and been a watcher of yours for years and still am. I will say I reached out to you in regards to training, and you reply back on Discord. I believe you were leaving out of town, which is what you stated in the message exchange. You advised me to contact you later on that week after you had gotten back to remind you. I waited a little over a week and more to before reaching back out. Then I reached out with a simply "hello sir" to set up a date and time. waited with no response. I then waited another week before I contacted you once more, again nothing. I am not going to keep bothering you as you probably get a lot of DM. I'm just disappointed I didn't do that perk. I could want and still need to learn the F-18, just an FYI. I did unsub from patreon, sorry man.
Hey guys! Keep in mind these lessons are a Perk of supporting the channel on Patreon! Thanks guys!

props to your student willing to be taught basics in public view, and props to you for clearly being a constructive and patient instructor.

That engine spooling explanation for landing was GOLD. Thank you.
One of the best explained videos i've ever seen in DCS! every new DCS F-16 player should seriously see this video. Thanks Spudknocker!

Perfect timing, I had bought this awhile ago and was considering actually learning it. Can't wait to watch!
Please post them!! I learn so much from watching them!!! Thank you Sir
I like how at 22:38 Spudknocker told the student im on your right site and you can see the student look at him from the jet 😂😂
Happy he is flying with the camo of 330SQ of the Hellenic Air Force! Good job Spud!
Aegean Ghost paint schemes are some of the best out there!
@@Spudspike Perfectly said! HAF has some of the best in the world!
Awesome job Spud!!! I'm still building my Sim, but I watch your videos learning all i can. Thanks for what you do!

Enjoyable to watch. I never had the opportunity to play yet. Its really cool. Thanks for showing this.

A lot of good info to pick up on this session - good training and thanks for posting it
Just got the F-16 myself. Thank you for sharing this 🙏
You are a great instructor!
Thank you man!
Thank you for this video both of you! I wanna finally take the plunge into DCS and this is a great video to start with
This is amazing, I'm going to jump in and try and follow along while watching the video.
You have the patience of a saint.
Bro when I get my PC, im definitely taking your flight training class!
I can definitely see how this is a confidence booster.
I’m just getting started in DCS. Once I get all the hardware I spent a boat load of money on set up I’ll be joining on Patreon and getting a lesson
where did he find the greek livery. I cant find it 💀
My boyfriend flies one of these! He’s out on a mission right now but I think he’s gonna propose to me when he gets back, I hope he brings flowers!
Good luck in Gaza!
Dang it!
Congrats!! 🎉
You are a good instructor. Reminiscent of a private pilot flight instructor.
I love Videos like this, thx to both of you! :)

How long would it take to get good enough to get airborne and fighting multiplayer

And what are your axis tune settings?
Are you able to schedule a lesson with someone from Australia? Highly considering becoming a patron for the lessons.
This is great. Can post chapter time marks for this?
Nice one ! What about the fa18 or f15 next ? Maby viggen wloud be cool too !
"It's easy to tip over an F-16."
"Yeah, I've done that"
lol
which eye tracker do you use??
Where can I get training like this😅
Be cool if you flew back seat in a D model for intial 1 on 1 training.
Cool stuff
That was cool. I don't think our time zones would work for a lesson. I'm down under in AU.
I haven't put that much attention towards a TH-cam video since 2023 :D Minute 54 didn't realize time was passing at all.
Fly it like an airliner rather than a fighter jet he says :). Meanwhile I'm doing military takeoffs and landings in my 737 :P.

30:24 no wonder he's confused about how to read the fuel state. You state 1,9 multiple times dude... and you're 9,1 😂

No, you'd never say "runway nine".
Its always both digits, so "zero niner" in this case.
