Bought one of these a couple of weeks ago. My first entry into euro. I have been completely blown away every time I sit down with it. Next up...System Concrete ;)
Whoa! 0_0 I had no idea there was THIS amount of flexibility with the 0-Coast. A lot of this is over my head, but just hearing the crazy blurps and fizzy bloops is fascinating!
Blown away! I had no idea there was the ability to use so many parts of the 0-coast as an Oscillator. And the Random func can be used like white noise, hello 0-coast snares!
No, I have not ever looked at synthesize circuits this way... Thanks for pointing that out. My 0-Coast is definitely my favorite little desktop thingamobob to ever go "blurp". Looking forward to the next iteration of these magic mini desktop boxes. Would love to see what you guys could do with something like the phonogene taken to the next level in the same form factor (think kaoss pad type stuff - or even Reaktor GoBox for some inspiration).
such LOVELINESS! 😻 i Love this box. i really enjoyed the User Manual you guys did up, which alludes to these same useful facts 👍 mine is full of highlighting and notes ;) hey,...i have Horrifying news.. i had to cancel my Strega and 0-Ctrl order today. Thomann said they wouldn't be getting any in until December. I learned my lesson about having things shipped in December ;)... sighhhh ... a real bummer but So Be It. I guess I will try again after the new year if we havent fallen into unrecoverable dystopian madness by that time. Hope you guys are safe. Til' soon 👋 happy patching
Late to the party I came (channeling Yoda), but I have to say, this is great! I've seen it said that the 0-Coast promotes no distinction between audio and control signals, but I hadn't yet tried plugging the random voltage output into the audio input jack - though even using the phrase "audio input" now seems somehow discriminatory and arbitrary (oh here we go...) 😳🤡
Regarding Moog's attitude towards utilizing identical patch cables for audio and control I found this original quote in Trevor Pinch & Frank Trocco's book "Analog Days": "In order to separate them you'd have to think you would never want to use an audio signal as a control…and I just never saw that-that's not something that we'd want to decide up front." [Pinch & Trocco (2002): Analog Days. Page 46]
I went to UCSC and their electronic music studio and they had a Serge Modular synthesizer. That thing had the most beastly touch keyboard sequencer, you guys make anything like that?
Why not create an enclosure this can sit in that gives the user a chromatic pressure sensitive pads and a four cv sequencer made specifically for the o-coast? Charge the same price, you will sell a ton, and we get a pseudo music easel for a grand? This enclosure could even be a case as well.. Why not?
Wow, inspirational, only at 0:49 i have stopped three times and patched variations by modulating about everything with everything... ...and i thought this thing is boring. ...and there is a wogglebug nearby...
Lucas Jensen the square wave can be a gate and used to trigger the clock, if you take that to audio rates you get a digital oscillator like what's shown here. You can also use the random voltage output the same way to get tuned noise.

This thing really is the ultimate synth... congrats Make Noise

Thats what synths are about, crazy noise.
So happy I have one arriving in a couple days. Down the rabbit hole I go!

If they released a whole series of semi modulars I'd buy them all!
late question: why does the negative attenuverter loop brings the contour to cycle mode but the positive one does not?
It's 4:00 a.m. and my brain just exploded 🤯 I have the thing for over a year and never thought to patch it this way
Glad to hear you got something out of the video! Thanks for watching ⚡️
Wow, that overtone circuit sounds incredible.
I'm getting a 0-Coast (and 0-Ctrl) in two weeks!! I can't wait to try out some of these patches
Have fun!!
awesome and metaphysical

I think I might want this.
🙌now I'm just speechless what sonically I'm experience 🔥🔥🔥🔥 thank You for this tutorial. Never heard better bass You can create here
I have never been so offended and fascinated in my life...
Superawesome, got to spend more time with this.
Glad you enjoyed it!

Andrew Levine did you know that the founder of make noise is former employee of Moog?
Interesting information! Thanks!
Really cool tips!
Cut-out-and-keep piece this- thanks! (Now I just need to wrap my head around midi B…)

i'm lost.
Love this
oh my god 05:00 :D
thank you for this , just tested some of them together ...
no other ways to get the contour cycling ? only with a negative attenuation it work ?
WTF!?! ... do not click on that link... if you do not like indian music... there is no 0-coast stuff!!!
Hi, not sure what link you are referring to. Is it something we posted? Thanks
it was on my comment, i delete it ...
i dont know how this thing dropped there ... sorry (Y)
What does the big pitch knob do? E.g. in relation to incoming MIDI/CV? Is it like a big pitch-bend knob?
MIDI from MIDI A input, CV from 1v/oct input, and the knob value, are all added together (summed) to determine the frequency.

Glad to know that you are having fun!
Bummer I cant rack it. I wanted to place it next to my Morphagene :-(
There's a YT video about racking it, if you haven't already found it.
It should be easier to rack, like a Mother-32 ... Yes ...
My unit is having a hard time reading midi from my BeatStep pro no matter what I do. Any Suggestions please?
please send an e-mail to technical at makenoisemusic dot com and we will help you out!
had like a WTF moment from 3:55 and onward o_O....
I thought 5:50 onward was the most sonically interest part of the video honestly.
How is the "digital square" generated? And what makes it digital?
Lucas Jensen the square wave can be a gate and used to trigger the clock, if you take that to audio rates you get a digital oscillator like what's shown here. You can also use the random voltage output the same way to get tuned noise.
So the "normal" squarewave oscillator triggers the clock, so the clock becomes an oscillator (at audio rates) ? And is the clock controlled digitally?

I managed to make a convincing thunderstorm. Blackhole eventide as reverb. 😊👌
This is just crazy.
Hard to find Make Noise products in Europe.
