  • We were fortunate to be joined by our friend Alessandro Cortini here in Asheville recently. He and Tony Rolando met up at Drop of Sun Studios to discuss the development process of their latest collaboration: Bruxa.
Bruxa is a new evolution of Tony and Alessandro’s original prototype circuits which eventually became the Strega’s Time/Filter Experiment. In this freewheeling conversation, Tony and Alessandro discuss everything from the initial concept designs from which both Strega and Bruxa were born, Alessandro's recent series of concerts (wherein he improvises on a pair of Stregas and a pair of 0-CTRLs), the "Scared System" and more!
Bruxa is a special release that will be available by pre-order only. Orders will be shipping out to dealers this October. Contact your favorite Eurorack dealer for details and availability.
Thanks again to Drop of Sun for hosting us!!

Thank you for Strega✨, a beautiful, versatile, volatile experiment that takes me to my Happy Place, as Alessandro put it a few years ago. Nice to see, more people will access its awesome amp/TIME/FILTER with Bruxa. The demos sound awesome! Happy patching y’all.

Strega is the greatest instrument I have ever had the pleasure of owning. Hands down. It tickles my brain in a way no other has. When I'm not playing, I'm thinking about playing. Glad Eurorackers get a taste of its time section.

I think the Curtis chips that were mentioned are part of the Solar 42. I did a little research for a presentation on it. There’s a lot of Russo/soviet history in that box. Fascinating drone synth. 😎

The section about how breaking out parts of instruments leads to new results gets me thinking... if only Strega's waveshaper could be its own module with dedicated input 😉

Portugal is full of magical places and perhaps that abstract map printed on Bruxa's circuit board will take you to Sintra

Yes, Strega and Bruxa are not "Cortini in a box"! Each is part of an instrument we make ourselves with wires and imagination.

Well this helped my wallet. Seriously though the strength of Strega and living/loving the instrument and loving the music of Alessandro and design of Tony's formats and conducting of circuits is brutalism as it's best. Till the end.
