      Hey Ben, have you tried using a different phone with the LG screen? Say, Oppo Reno Ace, in the case instead of the LG G8? Just to see if it will actually work..

      I have the V60 with the dual screen and you can open it with one hand if you get your thumb in between the two screens and flick your wrist it will swing all the way around allowing you to clamp it closed with your hand and use it as a normal phone.

    The Fold might look futuristic but the LG is waaaaaaaay more practical with the ability to run apps at full screen side by side and being fully IP68 certified while less fragile. Regular phone when you need it and a fully fledged foldable tablet at your command. I'm a Samsung user but I'll take the LG if I were looking for something like this👌💯

    great review ben. i made up my mind. i'm going with the lg. don't think that the samsung, folding screen will stand the test of time. also, the lg is water and dust resistant, with dual speaker and wireless charging at a very reasonable price.

  • @FAT8893
    @FAT8893 4 ปีที่แล้ว +5

    2:16-2:26 That bit definitely shows why I much prefer dual screen over foldable screen and since the DualScreen accessory is detachable, I don't need to bring or use it all the time. I can use it when I need to and take it off when I don't need it. By contrast, I have to bring the foldable screen bulk of the Samsung all the time. Another plus points for the LG is microSD card slot, IP68 and MIL-STD-810G just like Nokia 800 Tough, and most importantly a 3.5mm headphone jack with Quad DAC from an audiophile point of view.
    It's a shame really that the G8X loses native telephoto camera.

    Undoubtedly LG design is more cost effective and in real use case it has its advantages but I can't shake this feeling that LG today is just a former shadow of itself. G4 and G5 are great, and the V10 and V20 is truly peak LG inventiveness. The G8 tried with its time of flight sensor + camera, but it doesn't even work properly. So, best of luck for LG, hope they find their groove back.

    I've watched both of your comparison videos on these two phones now, but you haven't mentioned the huge chasm between the gigabytes. Fold: 12GB of RAM and 512GB storage, but no add-on micro SD card space. I will have to go searching for the specs on the LG's gigs, but the one area aside from the screen when we consider new phones these days is the gigabytes.
    OK, I see now the LG has 6GB RAM and 128GB internal storage but at least it's expandable. Does that have to be divided between the 2 screens?

    I knew it, there is a crease on the galaxy, this phone wont last it will eventually crack from folding it thousands of times over the course of a year, just like a credit card. Also that crease will get more and more noticeable over time and eventually interfere with looking at the phone. Have you noticed it getting worse? Keep and eye on that and let us know. Drove around Shanghai? You're in Thailand bro

And i found a reclaim for 500€ for the lg g8x, thats really when you think this phone had a second screen. Its not a bad deal. I like the UI of LG i dont know that run a litte bit smother then the samsung UI

    Only in Asia you can put an expensive device on a table, walk away for a bit and come back and it still will be there. In Budapest or Sydney you can’t even blink and have your phone on the table like that.

    I think the LG G8X is the best format for dual screen. It reminds me of Nintendo. LG G8X brings durability to the dual screen format. The G8X folds 360 so, for one hand use leave it open 360.

    Samsung fold is for those that wanna show off their wealth. The folding screen will eventually have issues...no doubt about that. I'd take $700 over S$2000 and then go on a vacation with the money I saved.

    I have the G8X, honestly i dont even bother with closing the fold anymore. i just flip the screen all the way to the back and use it like a regular phone until i need to multitask, which turns out i have to do a lot actually.
    i dropped it a few times already and still pretty solid, mind you i drop it at a pretty decent height. pretty solid phone.

    I love your reviews, I disagree with your comment at 5:00; if you know you will be needing quick uses of the g8x, you keep it folded reversed. This way you access the main screen directly.
    Same applies in case you need a quick photo, you use the selfie 32mp camera
