A few months ago, I loaned my good trailer to a friend and he twisted it up BAD! I've been trying to figure out a way to temporarily put a winch on my older one until my good one is replaced. I realize that this is an old video but, it's the best idea that I've seen so far.

This little winch has saved me time and time again! Keep in mind, it is just as easy to build something like this with a full size winch also.

Build one! It's not too hard, not too expensive, and it has saved me hours of trouble loading and unloading cars.
Awesome build! Just be careful with how much weight your pulling with that hitch. Hitch is rated for 5000lbs GTW. U-Haul trailer is 2210lbs empty, plus a 3000lbs car is already exceeding it. Would recommend getting a higher GTW capacity hitch.

The 5000lb capacity far exceeds the rolling resistance of anything you can fit on the trailer. You aren' lifting 5000 lbs. I've got to do something like that!

Would you tow any long distance with that winch still on your vehicle hitch?
I don't tow at all with it attached. Just pull two pins and toss it back in the truck! That's why it's so cool.

I agree with the unloading but with a 2500 lb winch and unloading you would have 0 problems putting a few clicks in almost any parking break! Just enough to give it some resistance but not enough to totally stop the wheels from turning! Old tow truck trick!

I still have the car, but have been working on my ST162 all summer. I really should have done the Camry instead...
