    You probably found out by now, but the reason it’s an 8” instead of an 7” is because you got the American model instead of the Schofield. I can tell by looking at the latching mechanism. I have been looking for a Uberti Schofield for the last two years. Your revolver is beautiful!

    That is a pretty neat replica air gun. The price of an actual Schofield is a deterrent especially if you need two. I've always wanted one in the .44 Russian, just 'cause it would be different. Looking forward to the Flames of Hell rig. It's always equally entertaining and educational to watch your leather work.

      I've actually had this one pre- "pandemic". I ve been waiting so long that I went ahead and got the BB gun instead. It's pretty cool with the CO2 cylinder because you just cock the hammer and shoot, no levers or heavy springs to fight.

    I thought I'd read the the Schofield's original latch could be opened accidentally if the thumb was in the wrong place while cocking the hammer, so S&W redesigned the latch. Is it possible the BB version has the older latch while the 45 Colt has the redesign?

    • @SmallCaliberArmsReview
      @SmallCaliberArmsReview  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The BB version is the "Schofield" version, the other one is just a S&W Model 3. Major George W. Schofield, had the Model 3 modified to meet what he thought his soldiers needed. I had heard the same thing about it being accidentally opened by cocking the hammer to fire the revolver.

    • @oasis6444
      @oasis6444 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@SmallCaliberArmsReview Exactly, you’re absolutely right. The Cimaron is, as a matter of fact, not a Schofield, but a S&W model 3 replica. The key feature of the Schofield being the latch like on the BB. For your info I practice CAS with two Schofields and I’ve never had a problem accidentally opening it with my thumb while cocking it. When you shoot it, you’ll figure out.

    On the co2 gun when you receive it the box says 6inch barrel but it is actually 7inch, it does throw out the shells if you break it open fast enough, there's a button on the bottom of the frame that you can press to retract the extractor

    I have several Peacemaker and Schofields, in bb and pellet. Even with the smooth bore barrel they are accurate with both bb and pellets. With the price of 22 ammo , these airguns make great understudy plinkers. The chrome version with poly ivory grips is very nice. Barra is supposed to come out with a rifled barrel version at some point. For the price you can’t beat them .

      I have 3 Schofield M3s Two are pellet firers with rifled barrels, one is in steel gray ( actually looks like deep smoked glass somehow, beautiful finish thats in BB
      My pellet versions are in Nickel Silver and aged black. They are from ASG not Barra but look very similar, all 3 guns are great fun to fire and pretty powerful for cco2
      I'm English living in the North East of England, our gun laws are very strict were not allowed to own pistols that fire cartridges, tho you can apply for cap and ball guns but you need to be part of registered gun club, theres not many round here but I'm currently looking into it as l would love an 1861 army Colt.
      I love all revolvers of the older classic type and theres a selection from Umarex, ASG and Barra.
      I have 4 Colt peacemakers from Umarex silver, black, and Blued the blue is BB.
      As said 3 Schofields, am currently waiting on a 4th in silver so l have a matching pair.
      Also from ASG a REMINGTON 1875 or Cowboy version as its sometimes called ( comes in a horrible blister pack but great gun all the same will be acquiring another )also a Gletcher Nagant in pellet, A Henry 1894 lever action rifle.
      My other guns are Luger, 1911 REMINGTON, Walther PPKs x2 and a Walther P38, A Broom Handled Mauser with wooden holster/ butt attachment.
      A WEBLEY VI IN 22 PELLET, a Dan Wesson revolver A Winchester revolver ( I'd never heard of it either). All the guns are pellet or BB, the nearest well get in UK to owning the real things butthey are very good looking copies.
      I envy your choice of real guns, l have fired real weapons, l was in the army cadets at 13 yrs of age we used Lee Enfield 303s and Bren Machine Gun top magazine loaded in 303.
      Then l joined the Army Infantry and we used the now defunct SLR in 7.62 round as our daily weapon and the GPMG belt loaded in 7.62, also fired 9mm semi auto pistol, and the Sten Sub Machine gun in 9mm too.
      I was a very good shot and loved firing them l would have spent all day on the ranges if l could have lol.
      Have a great time with your guns lads

      @@SmallCaliberArmsReview Some of the early Smith & Wessons had latches like the Cimarron, later Number 3 models had the latch like the Barra. The No. 3 was easier to open with one hand for mounted cavalry. I got the pellet cartridges but they don't seem to be any more accurate. Too bad they don't make a rifled version. Still, the BB version is fun to shoot out to 45-50 feet.

    You could have loaded the bbs far quicker by dabbing the shells in to the bbs, or you get shells that take the bbs in the back you just leave the shells in and place them in, very quick. There's a button on the bottom of the frame that stops the ejector throwing the shells or lifting them up.

    • @SmallCaliberArmsReview
      @SmallCaliberArmsReview  ปีที่แล้ว

      Unfortunately when I opened my container of bbs that I've probably had for about 20 years, there were bits of rust on them. I just picked out a few that seemed the cleanest and took them out to the range. That is a good idea you offered though.
