Ben Wade almost killed Dan at the end, when his survival instincts told him that it was the point of no return, in the physical sense at least. But Dan kept revealing just how weak and broken he was, but somehow he kept trying even though he was living at the bottom; his wife didn't like him, his son didn't like him, his other son was sick, even though Dan was giving it everything he got, nobody appreciated him, even his family who he sacrificed everything for. Wade realized the pain itself wasn't the evil to avoid, but fear of pain probably drove him to a life of pleasure and impulse. Wade saw there was no fear of pain or death in Dan's eyes, but only a deep sadness of not being understood for all the pain he was enduring and hiding. Wade helped him in that moment because Dan didn't seek to fool others for his gain like Wade had witnessed countless times, but Dan fooled others for their gain. A life of impulse, hurting others, and pure self centered pleasure never gave Wade the drive that he admired that drove a lowly man like Dan in that moment.
I bet Wade left the prison in Yuma shortly after arriving, like he had twice before. But the life he chose after was possibly on a turn to more philosophy, riding the line of selfless and selfish, as all of us do. But as a man who never shared emotional vulnerability with another person until he met Dan, he thought about his fellow man a little more often.

I was blown away when I discovered that Christian Bale was English. Russell Crowe, as well, from across the waters. The caliber of acting these days and their command of foreign accents is unprecedented. I’m adding Meryl Streep and Kate Blanchett to that category as well.

This is back when Russell crowe were in his peak of stardom bale will later became a star with batman films

Bale was a star well before Batman though. He just didn’t get his recognition. American Psycho and the Machinist showcased significantly better acting range than a corny Batman series ever could. It’s a shame he’s known for Batman and I’m sure you’d agree

I guess I can’t disagree, but some of his best work was before Batman. You can’t display quite the range as he did in other films. Batman begins is the only one I’d argue he had the ability to do so. The rest were corny AF with his lame ass voice. Idk maybe it’s me but Batman is his worst work. And not because of him, but the writing

I don’t think those batman films are corny!!! Bale is a very good batman even though I feel like he’s a bit overrated as an actor. People sort of go on and on about his physical transformations as if they make him a great actor. He is a very good one though.

How fitting that their personalities match the role they play so much. This could be an alternate future where ben and wade become friends.

Ever the Austrailian arrogance. You can see the heat in the room between to Alphas. A great movie nonetheless and a better remake than the original.
If you like movies like these you should check out the remake of "True Grit". "The Duke" does an amazing job in the original but you've got to give it to Jeff Bridges, it seems like roles like these were meant for him.
A+ all around and very rewatchable movies 🤓
