I used to get leather sneakers when I was a kid and they always ended up creasing and getting dirty so I just wore fabric ones for the longest time but just bought a pair of white leather ones so now it's time to learn how to properly care for them, thanks for this video!
One major thing is missing - the conditioning of a leather! You can't just wipe them and wash the soles, you have to condition the leather as it will become dry over the course of time.. So what to use on a white pair of sneakers? Some Saphir white cream?
This video is amazing! Just bought a few pairs of white leather sneakers. Your video was beautiful, and showed me everything I needed to know to take proper care of them. Thanks!
Great video mate but you don't need those sneaker wet wipes, standard baby wipes are perfect and a fraction of the price, yes the come in small packets great for travelling but you can figure out how to carry a few. White shoe cream/polish is a god send too for touching up and to get the stitching back nice and bright.
Hey man. Thanks for your feedback. I actually used wet wipes for the last couple of years (the high end ones) and noticed they all left a small patch on my white leather shoes that is visible in bright sunlight. As I mention in the video, while the jason markk wipes appear to be a luxury, they are actually free from harmful oils and offer the 2 side feature. Regarding the polish and shoe cream, always use these as last resort, not as substitutes for shoe cleaner. These add an extra layer/cover on top of the shoe’s original material. I would only use polish and shoe cream when my leather is scratched and definitely not on a weekly basis like I do with the shoe cleaner (assuming I wear them frequently). Thanks again for watching !
Right lol? Definitely someone who makes money to have stuff like shoe trees for all their shoes lol. Good for him just a bit too much money and frequent energy for most of us
I don’t personally use a leather conditioner except on suit shoes (derbies, oxfords etc.). Keep in mind that leather conditioner works best on true leather and that most white leather sneakers (e.g Nike) are faux leather and so conditioning won’t be necessary. For calfskin white leather, if you insist, make sure you are using a sneakers conditioner solution as opposed to leather furniture conditioner. And if you are planning to use a conditioner on dark leather, it might alter the color or darken it. Always try a small spot first as a test to check. Hope this helps

Hey Tom, once I reach the top, I take the right lace and go inside the left top shoe hole. I would then take the left lace and go inside the top right one. So the top hole on both sides will have an overlap. Before wearing them i would just make sure the laces are tucked inside the shoe comfortably instead of tying them.
Thanks for your comment and question Johnny. I never claimed Jason Markk products to be the ONLY option available but I have tried several products and found those to be the most delicate and effective. The brush that is being used can be of the same material (e.g. horsehair) but make sure to be using brushes with bristles on the softer end of the spectrum as harder brushes tend to scratch delicate leather. I’m not familiar with the Saphir renovator but if it’s a form of shoe polish it’s not exactly relevant for “everyday care” and should only be used when the leather is deeply scratched. Hope this helps.
Isn't too harsh to just clean them with solvent and then not condition them after? What about applying Saphir nappa cream after the jason markk cleaner?
All is valid if the modern sneakers were not intentionally made with very weak sole. The leather could last years, but the sole is intended to last as long as the producer desires. Buy, consume and throw in the trash bin - that is the idea of the mass producer.
Thanks for this video! I recently bought white Louis Vuitton Charlie sneakers.. Supposedly it's made of sustainable materials... Do you recommend a protecting spray before use? I really want to care for them well. Thank you!
Thanks a lot! Yes absolutely. Just don’t over do it (spray from a distance, don’t over-wet them, and leave them to dry overnight before wearing them). The rest of the tips in the video should also help. Enjoy !
If you’re talking about the shoe cleaner in the video, you shouldn’t apply it directly on the leather. You add a few drops on the brush, dip it water, shake off the excess liquid, and apply it to the leather with a soft bristles brush until it foams. You then use the microphone fiber cloth to soak up the foam and wipe the shoes clean. Let me know if I answered your question:)
Is white saddle soap OK for sneakers? I've used a bit of it on black leather skate shoes and it's been great. I don't have a lot of white sneakers or sneakers in general but I figure it's best to start taking care of the ones I do own so I don't just toss them and get new ones.
Should be fine. Just make sure the product is suitable for the color of the sneakers. Always brush your sneakers before starting the cleaning process to get rid of dirt that could end up being rubbed into the leather. Absolutely! Take care of your gear and clothes and go the extra mile to clean them properly if you want to get the best bang for your hard earned buck. Thanks for the comment !
