I guess you can tell the country of manufacture from the bar code.

Hi Guys, I really like your videos and appreciate very much your tests. I have two remarks for this video. The high qualits Niggeloh Neopres strap is for the binoculars and the small one is for the bag. (Niggeloh is known for high quality gun straps) You as well missed to mention th 50m to endless focussing function which can be adjusted with the white marker on the central focussing wheel. This is marketed by DDoptics as on of the main featues of this product

Hello, thank you for pointing that out. We'll keep those pointers in mind when filming our next video.

Those binoculars look just like the Bushnell Forge binoculars that are made in China. Where are these made?

According to the website they are made in japan.

Likely by Third Party Manufacturer Kamakura in Japan. That doesn’t mean all components are made in Japan but likely the lenses, prisms are and at least assembled in Japan with quality control in both Japan and Europe. The Vixen New Foresta 8x56 looks almost exactly like these but I believe they were discontinued. Kite 8x56 Cervus HD are also said to be made by Kamakura as well. Maybe GPO 8x56 Passion HD as well. The Cervus and Passion look almost exactly the same as well. All of these Binos are around the same price point with similar features.

I looked up the Bushnell Forge Binoculars. Very different in build. The Forge is 8x42 which is a general all around Bino. It doesn’t mention the exact type of prism except “Roof Prism” but it does mention Phase Coating and Dielectric Coatings which is only required with Schmidt-Pechan Prisms. The bulge in the Forge looks more like a marketing play to make it look high performance in low light. But the reality is it is not really considered a “Low Light Binocular”. Most Low Light Binoculars are 7x50 or 8x56 with 7mm exit pupils for this purpose. Most higher end Low Light Binos have Abbe-Koenig Prisms like these with 8x56 lenses for maximum light gathering in darkness. (But only the most experienced and discerning people may notice a difference in performance) Most Abbe-Koenig Prisms don’t require special coatings because they rely on their own internal reflections for image projection. Older style Porro Prism Binoculars in 7x50 and 8x56 perform well also. Abbe-Koenig Binos are generally more compact than most Porro Prism Binos but tend to be longer and bulge out more than Schmidt-Pechan Binos. Abbe-Koenig Prisms are harder to make and more expensive than Porro and Schmidt-Pechan Prisms hence the price is more expensive. I haven’t found any new Abbe-Koenig Binos for less than $650. If you do then LMK. The ones $1000.
Bushnell Forge is a very different Bino from the DDoptics Pirschler and I would probably not spend $450 on a Chinese made Bushnell when there are better options for the money.
I hope this helped a little.

Binoculars are not made in Japan, but in China.

Note my earlier comment. Maybe some components are but I doubt the lenses and prisms are made in China and more likely by Kamakura in Japan (A well known Third Party Manufacturer). I speculate that these are made or at least assembled in Japan with Japanese and European quality control.
