MJR has been leaving comments on my channel every now and again going back as far as when my channel was bigger than his... That was a long time ago, lol.
Just bought one as well and loving it! One of the biggest surprises to me were that many unverified games work even better then the verified ones!! So even games I didn't expect to be able to play worked flawlessly. It's amazing
Yeah... I finding there are games that I wouldn't expect to run on it that do. It seems like the games that aren't working are older ones though, but I'm wondering if some of them can run with tweaks.
If you have a large steam library and a nice gaming desktop the steam deck oled is a must buy. The value you get from this device is huge! And valve is a great company that deserves the support. The next gen steamdeck is going to probably change the industry if it hasn't already. I wish more people could try this thing. It's so impressive in person.
I think the Steam Deck is currently changing the industry. It's a popular device that runs on Linux and it may cause more developers out there to make sure their games run on Linux. It could lead to a future where Linux becomes the lead OS for gaming instead of Windows.
Apparently there were improvements made over the original aside from the display like a longer battery life and it weighing a bit less. But if you have the original it may not be worth the upgrade... or maybe wait until the end of the year and see if there's another revision.
Congrats! I impulsively bought a steam deck and in the back of my mind I thought it would collect dust like past portables (3ds, switch, etc). I'm pleasantly surprised how much I'm playing the steam deck, it's amazing.
I sold my LCD Deck after getting a Legion Go. Not having the better OLED version of the Deck made me sad, but I couldn't justify paying full price for such an incremental upgrade, so I nuked the situation, lol. Legion Go has detachable controllers so you can potentially play vertical (pinball/shmup) games like with the Switch and its flip grip. On a much larger screen.
@@ChieffBooGames I think having owned both the original Deck, other OLED devices, and the Go myself, I can safely say I'm not disappointed at all. 8.8" is the ideal sized handheld screen.
@@jed1nat oled deck is improved version of the first one and worth the upgrade to me. Try it and come back and tell me about your experience. For me, I’m coming from a ps5 to the handheld space. I did not like the ally I gave it to a relative. I still have both decks. I prefer the console similarities on the deck.
Got mine a handful of days ago. Taking it slow, but it is so cool having a hand held device again. So far I have mainly played PokeMMO, but have dabbled in Palworld and No Mans Sky too. Those type of games are just so much more relaxing and fun on a handheld. Soon, I am going to try either PoE, or an FPS like Deep Rock and see if I can get gyro + trackpad settings where I like them. Probably will take time to adjust, but I am going to put a sincere effort into it. Trackpad+gyro looks like it works really well for shooters in videos I have seen.
Yeah... I'm taking it pretty slow too. I just want to see what the base experience is like first and them I'll probably start looking up videos for tweaking things.
Welcome to the world of Steam Deck. I love mine. And you're right; how many systems are released that already have thousands of games available for it, and you yourself own nearly a thousand. I hope you enjoy.
I've been dabbling with it the last few days and it's kind of impressive that they made it simple and straightforward to use, but still will let you tweak a lot of stuff if you want to.
Enjoy its phenomenal device. I find myself playing Elden ring and other games on my desktop during my days off and my deck oled on my work days. The versatility with cloud saves is incredibly convient. It’s my favorite gaming purchase.
Something really cool u can do, if a game is too much for 60 fps, you can set a different NATIVE framerate in steam deck! U can set it to exaple to 40 fps, or 45 fps. If u knoiw u can get 45 + always all the time, then u can set to 45 and turn on v sync and it will be very smooth. In addition, alot of unity games have a 50 hz bug, non smooth scrolling, but if u set it to 50hz exactly, the game runs smoothly.
Yeah, I saw that you can tweak all those kind of settings, make them universal, or only apply them for one game. Pretty cool how they allow you to tweak those kind of settings.
Fun fact steamdecks have capacitive thumb sticks that are configurable in the settings., Adding grippers on the stick tops stops them being capacitive 🤦♂️
@CrowContinuum using Gyro for aiming you can use it with either stick as a quick toggle (thumb on stick gyro enable thumb off disable) you can map it to anything really you could map one stick to a radial menu selection then move stick to navigate radial menu remove thumb to toggle /select that radial menu option or you could set it to when both sticks touched toggle whatever , I'm still learning but the toggle gyro to aim is useful I use left stick with no touch to move and right stick with touch to quick toggle gyro for fine aim so I can keep gyro off until needed 👍
That was another thing that appealed to me about the Steam Deck. I can take it to my sisters, plug it into her TV and we can play Jackbox or something similar.
Had no interest in a steamdeck. When I saw the rog ally a week before it released I ordered it. I loved and hated it. Sent it back. Bought a steamdeck and love everything about it bar the screen. And now I find myself watching sd oled videos haha. I should just buy one and get it out of my system.
I thought those glasses were really expensive, but I just looked them up and they aren't as expensive as I thought. Sadly, the first thing I started thinking about was what it would be like to use the glasses instead of a monitor for work.
@@CrowContinuum thats valid! they technically do work as a work monitor but its just a tv in your eyes, same with steam deck. the ar stuff is phone exclusive, with their app, it was kind of jank when i last tried it. it works so good with samsung phones and samsung dex though! ah maaannn, i used mine on my phone, had an external ball handheld mouse thats bluetooth and it was really cozy.. sorry i just had to gush a bit about the glasses im all over the place
I only want to warn you that the Steam Deck is a very versatile piece of hardware - but if you try to use it for anything beyond its base functionality, you'll be spending more time tinkering and reconfiguring than actually playing the thing. In my personal experience, trying to install non-Steam games to MicroSD produces a lot of spooky behavior. Linux is good for the casual "Facebook & e-mail" crowd, it's good for low-level veteran coders who are well-versed in the terminal, and there is no middle ground. It's a wasteland of confusion and constant reinstalls.
I'm not really sure how much tinkering I want to do with the Steam Deck. So far it seems to be more versatile than I thought it would be even without tweaking anything.
I use my Steam Deck all the time. It really is a great handheld. Currently replaying The OuterWorlds Spacers Choice and it runs great
Cool to see you comment on smaller channels that randomly pop up in my feed
First thing I had to play on it was Vampire Survivors, lol.
MJR has been leaving comments on my channel every now and again going back as far as when my channel was bigger than his... That was a long time ago, lol.
@@CrowContinuum That's even cooler mate, subbed. I've been watching MJR on and off for years now.
Playing a game on my desktop and then picking up where I left off on my deck is magical.

Cannot wait for all your steam deck videos!
What kind of Steam Deck videos would you want to see?
@CrowContinuum Anything that you put out about it, I'm in!
Congratulations🎉 I really enjoy mine.
Huh. Ok. Not sure I wanted this cuz I love the original…but maybe it will be decent!? 😮

I use it all the time especially for older titles. Helps a ton on saving on your electricity bill. Nice device for browsing the internet too.

I'm the same way with some of this stuff. This does seems like something I'll use regularly though.

I would like a Steam Deck, but sadly, I have no reason to get one, because, I do already have a Switch and a Gaming Desktop.
I have those things as well... I wound up buying one anyway because I don't really play the Switch much anymore.

With 1 or 2 BT Xbox controllers and a USBC to HDMI adapter this thing becomes a console in a pinch for my kids.
