    Not sure if it really came across in this vid but when you get those Traveler sliders just right, these things have ROOM SHAKING BASS the likes of which very few synths classic or modern can match. Seriously!! I have the Mini700FS and an original Mini700S and the bass was always nuts even back in '74. Great vid. Great synth. MIDI, inputs, spring reverb! Worth the price for me...

    My first synth was a korg 770. Everything about this is very similar, but what makes it really appealing is the midi input and arp which my old synth does not have. The best it could do was assign LFO to note trigger, but that could not sync to anything else. I have a 90 minute cassette somewhere of my old drones I made using the effect.
    I have zero need for more synths, but it holds a lot of sentimental value as a classic design I am very familiar with.
    This newer one seems to have a sharper attack that is found in newer analogs. The old 770 is slightly mushy on the attack. The poly800 is similar.
    The huge selling point for the 770 was its manual which provided an easy overview on what waves are found in what sounds and how to use the various sections in the synth. I think it may even have had some sample patch settings for common instrument types. If this one has a similar manual it seems like a great starter synth due to the simplicity of its architecture.
    The price on this is what will make it or break it.

    Gotta hand it to Korg, they led the analog charge with the minilogue and led the vintage reissue charge with the ms20 mini. This is even better. Yamaha and Roland should definitely take notes. They probably don't have anyone on payroll right now that can design/build analog circuits, but they can always hire and I'm sure they keep good documentation of the old hardware.

    Over 1K and... mini keys with no velocity sensitivity? Um.. No thanks. It seems like much of this sale is about the looks. Will probably satisfy some rich guy's GAS fine. Now, if they made it say 2 octaves but full size keys + velocity sensitivity + Kaoss Pad (or additional spring-less joystick), - that would open up an additional market niche for sure. Portability with next to zero expressiveness (and lack of MIDI OUT to add insult to injury) is a tough sell especially for that price.

    • @Bigger-Circuitry-Bigger-SOUND
      @Bigger-Circuitry-Bigger-SOUND 3 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา

      @@loopopwell it matters, because if the premium price is for being authentic only to the look and not the circuitry than what is the point taking this and not a whatever behringer, the vintage gears sound as they sound because of the circuitry not the “ wood sides “ i believe ? There is a video of yourself OBJECTIVELY showing this, when you compared the real Roland tb303 with DinSync and Behringer etc and the only one that sounded like the real 303 was the DinSync that was a replica through-hole while Behringer was yes the same circuitry topology but Sourface Mount Circuitry and was not the same sound but OK for the price.
      My point is not about personal taste but to understand when they clame to bring back vintage gears and ask premium price, do they mean just the case and wood sides like the original or also the inside circuitry that generates “ the real authenticity “ (SMT is cheap to build tho) 😏

    • @jackpijjin4088
      @jackpijjin4088 2 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา

      There is literally no reason to push for through-hole components here. If you want vintage NOS parts then forget $1300, that's gonna run into more like $13,000. Those parts are OBSCENELY expensive en masse.
      SMD components offer literally identical nominal performance and with far higher and precise tolerance.

    • @billfusionenterprise
      @billfusionenterprise 10 นาทีที่ผ่านมา

      @@loopop though hole only makes sense for certain parts do to those parts have certain characteristics. Old carbon resistors and certain caps, trouble those parts are not stable and can cause variations. Thus why certain people look for them.
      By the ways capacitor choice can be a big deal in certain analog gear due to a factor of frequency characteristic, in other words they change depending on what frequency is going though. It is why when you get old audio gear repaired you might want to be sure the use certain right parts. I have seen so many "don't use this place" reviews because someone replaced old caps with new electrolytes

    no velocity, bye bye

      I love playing piano because I can express myself with how hard I hit the keys, but then I love synthesizers that have no velocity...
      Each has their place.
      Before the invention of the piano-foete instruments with keys didn't have velocity and a lot of great classical music was made with them. Harpsichord is the obvious example.
      It is just a matter of taste and what you want to do with a particular composition.

      @@inthefade yes but as long as technology exists (and is not pre 80s period) then why not to have it, its an parameter that can help the sound expression without using other hand

      @plutostube What about non aftertouch synths? Technology exists, but you don't have aftertouch on every excellent synth put there

      @@waxwaine velocity its a very "handy" expression, is much appropriate to our own human nature, we touch things gently or harder, again that was a basic thing to add, I didn't asked to have a rocket, also as long as you added aftertouch why not also velocity, it is a feature of the keyboard as well, right? imagine velocity for cutoff, or resonance, or to other great analog parameter that it has

    Being quirky should never come to mind with name convention. Call things by common parlance please Korg.

      Since it looks just like the 1974 one, it means Korg had access to AI back then!

      It was designed about half a century ago. Quite literally looks nothing like a synth "designed by AI". Also AI designs are stolen directly from things humans have made. Everything AI makes was original something made by people

      Yes, It was designed by AL at Korg back in 1974 and now re-released.
