“Done is better than perfect” I really REALLY needed to hear this today. Really appreciated hearing you talk about real little daily life struggles and how to be kind to yourself throughout it :)
We had it hired because my husband has extremely bad gout so he isn’t able to get on ladders and my vertigo prevents me from getting on ladders. This is why we hired it out everything else we have done on our own we turned a 3bedroom/1bath into a 6bedroom/3 bath. So it’s not about us wanting it to be perfect!
Yeesssss!!! I am doing renovations as well, and whew! It's a lot of work! I think a project should take an hour, but end up being 2 hours... 😂..but "PROGRESS" is certainly being made! Great job, Becky and Josh, it's looking great!!!
You two are a power team with your complimentary skills & personality types! I love it when a couple can leverage this to get things done & succeed vs being upset that the other person isn’t more like them lol. You & Josh are such a joy to watch; I wish you nothing but success in you new dream homestead 🥰
Everything that’s worth doing is worth doing BADLY! This helped me so much! A kitchen that has been cleaned a bit is better than a not cleaned kitchen, one load of laundry is better than none… energy sometimes comes when doing things and one load of laundry might turn into 5! 🤷🏻♀️
The key is doing your best at a particular moment. Your best on a different day may be better or worse than your best today. I let go of perfection and opted for doing my due diligence and if I can do more at that moment, I will.
Becky, I’ve been watching you and subscribed to your channel Just want you to know, I love you because I’m 80 yrs old, and watching you has motivated me with your videos and giving me an inspiration to me. I just lost my 89 yr old husband and you have given me the desire to keep going. God bless you and Josh. Congratulations on your new home. Lots of love and blessings to you both👍👍👍👍❤️❤️❤️🌹🌹🤙🏻🤙🏻🤙🏻🌼🌼
Hi Becky, put pinwheels in your garden and it will help keep moles the moles out. They do not like the vibration in the ground when the pinwheels start going from the wind! I usually get mine at Dollar Tree. It has worked for me over the years! Have a great day! Love your videos!!👍😊🙏
What a wonderful, cheap solution! Just genius; makes me (almost🤪) want to be able to garden again! (I'm 78 and live in a retirement community so not an option.) My patio faces north so only get sun am and pm. Anybody have suggestions of any kind of veggie or flower would grow well here? Bye the way have you ever noticed that only two types of people mention their age a lot? Kids and Elders! We are both so proud of our age. In-betweens not so much;)
@@kayerin5749 I recently purchased a greenstalk planter and have it on my back patio facing north. I’m in Texas so my tomatoes are struggling with the heat but my cucumbers and peppers are thriving.
Or get a cat! I had no idea I had a mole problem until my neighbors cat (that adopted me for some reason) started leaving them at my door 😬 sometimes 2 or 3 a day! I've also read that cats will bring you their dead catch because they think you're to stupid to hunt for yourself so I'm just greatfull either way....😄
Wow. As much as I enjoy your videos, Becky, I really REALLY needed to hear your message (around the 11-12 minute mark) about making baby steps towards progress. I've been struggling this year with both medical issues, after a really bad fall, as well as grief since I lost my sister in March--who was also my BFF and the last of my immediate family. I make lists, then don't complete them, and then feel guilt and failure and then the next day I have even more to do because stuff was undone. .Lather. Rinse. Repeat. A friend told me to just do the one thing each day that causes me the most grief...so I've been doing that. It does feel as though I'm making forward progress (book shelves are getting built and laundry is getting done and meals are being prepped). Am I racing to the finish line? Nope...but those small wins ARE making a positive difference to my psyche...and to my home. Thanks for embracing transparency and candor and being so strong that you can share your vulnerabilities. That makes as much difference in a life as knocking out 20 freezer meals. :)
My deepest condolences on the loss of your sister, grief can make even simple tasks insurmountable on bad days. I know. I try to do the 'just do 1 thing a day' thing to. Sometimes I get more done, sometimes I don't even achieve that 1 thing, but I have learnt that that is OK. Be kind to yourself.
The foam that says it's for windows and doors are made to not expand as much and will not bow your frames so both cans you bought were the right foam for the job. For future reference if you use a break-a-way bladed knife that can be fully extend it will cut the foam like butter! Total game changer! You can find the knives in the paint department at any hardware store or at any paint supply store. Hope that helps!
My Gandpa used to say "plant enough for your family, your neighbors and the animals" Then you will have enough when someone else needs and when you want and need as well as when the wild critters eat your food.
If you put UV screens on the outside of the windows, it should reduce the amount of heat and you’ll still have your view. 🙂 They’re really popular here in Texas because it’s so hot.
That's a always a good idea, and the best part is it will not harm the plants if you decide to use that room as a "greenhouse." Red and blue light, what plants need, still gets through while blocking harmful and floor/furniture fading uv rays.
@@jnmMom3 indeed. With prices what they are..ate... I also do it for loaf bread too. When bread is on sale, I buy multiple loaves. I squeeze out as much air as i can and wrap them in plastic wrap really good. You could pull it out 2 weeks later and it will be soft and fresh. 👍🏽🤗
I do that with all bread. Takes minutes to defrost and is as good as the hour baked. You never want to leave bread out or refrigerate it. It dries it out or molds.
Over time I’ve thrown away more breads and rolls; each time I went to make something with a bread they were moldy! I then started to first rebag in zip locks and put them in the freezer as soon as I got home from the grocery store. Haven’t thrown any moldy bread since then!
such a blessing to hear Josh whistling...you two are so sweet and hardworking. Thanks for sharing! I know it takes a lot of time to record and edit your videos. 'you make a mess, you clean a mess'....that is definitely a huge part of life! Blessings to you both.
This is my favorite channel to relax and decompress, and having these videos every other day is so cool. I especially love cooking videos, but it's just your genuine personality that is responsible for this success, I think. Thank you and all the best from Poland!
She has quickly became my favorite channel! I love her knowledge and her positive attitude. Seems like everyone is so down and doom these days. But she is so inspiring
I moved from a 2,500 sq ft house to two houses (we bought two to renovate simultaneously) and at one point I just 'couldn't any more' with the small stuff - BUT - I understand TOTALLY when you noted "I spent money to buy this firewood, and I don't want to leave it behind!" - I am with ya gal!
Thoughts from a person who just put in a new kitchen in my new home. Put in 2 dishwashers when you renovate. It doesn’t cost much more but it’s life changing for big cooks. One gets filled, turn it on and then start loading the next one. You have the space. This is the second kitchen i have done it in and i will never regret it. Love the show Bec
Oh yes 2 dishwashers are better than 2 oven! I have had kitchens in both configurations. If only I could have both. Diswashing has 3 options, hand, machine, trash. Oven you have multiple cooking options even bringing the pan to be cooked over someone elses home- not so with dishes! 2 diswashers are a game changer!
My little 18 month old doesn’t usually sit still long enough to watch anything with me, but your videos are special. Makes me happy to share something like this with her. She’s going to be watching us build our own dream homestead within the next couple years as well 🥰
I grew up with shelling peas. I completely understand where you are coming from but I had some wonderful memories getting to know my Great Aunt, my Grandma and Mom shelling peas together. We would sit in a circle on the porch and we talked, laughed and sang.
Hi Becky I am a retired empty nester and I terribly miss having people to cook for and with!. I love watching your show so much!! I make tv dinners, freezer meals for myself and trying a small garden. You are just charming, funny and interesting. Thanks for the fun
Because of u I have come out of my comfort zone and I’m going full on raised garden beds and doing make ahead freezer meals ! I am disabled and I can’t do a whole lot of heavy lifting but my husband made me some raised garden cubes out of old good grade pallets and now I have a bunch of tomatoes, zucchini, broccoli, cucumbers, green peppers and then I have two smaller flower pots that are my herb gardens! Im drying my own oregano, basil, dill, parsley, thyme and chives ! Watching u and ur gardens and houses it’s amazing ! Keep up the great work! Your friend from south west Ohio
I love that you give yourself grace to work on dishes as time allows. I have a lot more time than you do but I have always had a messy kitchen until about 6 months ago. I had a bad habit of putting off cleaning up until one day I just said enough. I cleaned out my cupboards and made one big space for large appliances used infrequently, got rid of stuff I didn't use at all and downsized my bowl and storage containers to items I use weekly. I would rather wash frequently than have them hog up space. I wash bowls and utensils as I cook . I run the dishwasher in the morning after breakfast so day use and dinner plates have a place to go. Usually I don't have any dishes to face after dinner or breakfast except to put dried ones away and dirty plates, cups and eating utensils in the dishwasher. I always wipe and clean my counters with water and vinegar as I go so I don't have to worry about chemicals contaminating my food while cooking. Also when I come into the kitchen if I see something on the that needs to be done my new motto is "if you see something that needs to be done, you can't unsee it, do it then." Has been a game changer for my mental health lol. Also I got a robotic vacuum cleaner to clean my floors. BIG time game changer. You have been a big inspiration for me, thank you for your videos!
great you can fiit large appliances in your cupboards. Here the cupboards are so tiny you can't even fit your kettle in if you want to. I ended up buying loads of shelves coz what 'housing' here provides as cupboards doesn't work. Even a bottle of oil won't fit. Yea believe housing...
I say something similar to “done is better than perfect”. I always tell myself “it doesn’t need to be perfect, just better than it was”. And that really helps with the overwhelm of the mess sometimes!
I envy your temperatures. It's 107° with a heat index of 110° here in Central Texas at the moment. On a positive note, after you did some of your dishes I paused the video to go get more tea, and you inspired me to wash two bowls I had used this morning. :-)
@@julieneises8851 I've lived in Texas all my life, a little over half a century, and hate Texas summers more every year. The humidity is a little better up here in Central Texas than it is South East of Houston where I was born and raised. Many of my relatives are in Louisiana. The humidity is really rough there.
It was always such fun sitting and shelling purple hull peas with my grandmother and mother. They would buy them by the bushel from the local farmer. We'd spend the afternoon sitting in front of a fan, just visiting and shelling peas. Lots of problems were solved during those pea shelling sessions. I was just a kid, but have great memories of this activity.
I really like how you roll with change of plans! You don’t let it get you down but find other tasks to do to stay productive! Thank you for being so cheerful and positive! You brighten our day!
Not sure why they would take down the drywall to refinish it? We had moved into home like that and were able to mud over, sand then paint..never had to rip anything out..
That’s what I was thinking. We just had all our old water lines in our house replaced and they had to cut holes in the drywall everywhere there was a joint. We put patches in and I’ve been working on smoothing on drywall mud in a way where you can’t tell there was a patch. It’s a lot of work, and usually takes at least 2-3 layers, but it would have been more costly to completely re-do all the walls.
I was thinking the same thing too. It was in the 90s here today in south central Missouri and seeing Becky in long sleeves, I'm like OMGosh I'm sweating just watching, lol. At least it isn't in the 100s now.
I know... I'm so jealous as I sit here sweltering in Texas where they are making us even hotter with rolling blackouts to conserve energy. Just wild to see her in a hoodie in July.
It’s so nice to see a couple who supports and respects their spouse. You two work so well together finding each other’s weaknesses and each others strengths. I wish you both all the love and happiness this life has to offer.
My chickens got quinoa muffins this morning. They were rally racing with the cranberries in their mouth 🤣 Becky you totally missing out in nasturtium pesto & flower salad toppers! The flowers are spicy and you will LOVE them! Pop a flower and a pea pod in your mouth and it will be heaven🥰🥰
Please do not give your girls moldy food! It can be toxic.. One of the most common illnesses it can cause in chickens is mycotoxicosis. The most common symptoms include diarrhea or weight loss, leading to very underweight chickens. Love the trim!!!
Yes. I came to say this as well. Also sugary foods like cake really aren’t good for them either, but especially the mold. They can get very sick. I hope she sees this! Love Becky and her content! We are just trying to help! 💚
@@underthemusicaltree She is so enthusiastic and motivated to learn, I just love her. Reminds me of me when I was young!! She motivates me all over again!!! :)
I know, me too! But I think I would've cried when I got it all loaded up and then realized the truck wouldn't crank, 🤪 but she took it all in stride! Thank goodness she had her car there, and it didn't leave her stranded at Lowes with the doggies. Love love love your channel, Becky! I may be 51 years old but, I wanna be YOU when I grow up. ☺️
No! I couldn't endure the sound of the styrofoam, nails on a chalkboard! You guys are doing such an incredible job of making this house your home. Best wishes for Becky and Josh, Debbie.
Caulk vs Culk. Think of Australia - has the "awe" sound. C-awe-lk. Not that I'm OCD about anything, pronunciation included, haha. BTW - the flowers in your garden are gorgeous!!! The new owners-to-be are going to have such a beautiful yard!!
Love love love these videos! Way more entertaining than anything on TV in the genre. Becki, your narration is a joy. You and Josh are sure going to have a gorgeous new homestead ❤❤
Love the longer videos!! My favorite channel on TH-cam. I look forward to seeing you and Josh's progress on your forever home. Love your puppies They brighten my day!! God Bless you all!! Love from Little farming village Brandonville Pennsylvania!
Oh hun, fresh eggs! How eggs- citing! I just recently watched a video on "water glassing " eggs to preserve them. I think it would ve amazing to do that! How lovely that you have them to share! My hubby says a cord of wood measures out to a stacked pile 4'x4'x8'. We use roughly 3 full Cords of wood last year. Thanks for hanging out with me while I try to clean my kitchen. Yes Done beats perfect here too. Brightest blessings.
I've been watching for about 2 weeks now. I love the cooking and harvesting content, but I also love to see your cleaning and other chores! It's so fun to clean my house with you haha
Yes you can buy a sheller for your peas. But you will miss a very big opportunity for great conversation and memory making! I have very fond memories of sitting on the front porch swing with my mamaw shelling purple hulls by hand! To this day, it is very relaxing to me to just rock on my porch with a big bowl of fresh purple hulls and just shell away. Remembering my fun times with her! If you choose to let them dry on the vine, a simple trick is to put them all in a garbage bag and beat them with a broom. All the peas separate from the shells and fall to the bottom. My 80yo father inlaw taught me that trick! And I have growers' anxiety too! And this is my third year as well!! Thank you for reminding that it's all in God's plan!
I totally agree we all have things going on that we can’t control..I lost my husband in May I have a home like yours with a full garden fully stocked pantry’s and freezers Now it’s just me and all this food. I’m learning a new phase in my life and what to do with all this food as not to waste it..I hate waste too!! Take Care Bless you
It’s my birthday today, and what better way to spend it than to watch Becky & Josh living their best lives and sharing it with us. I get insanely happy when a new video appears - it really makes my day. Thanks you two ♥️❤️
I truly needed that motto. Done is better than perfect, you are so right on the mark there. I recently had my alternator changed out on my van and had the same issue with it not wanting to start because it was down for a month. My mom had given me a NOCO Boost sometime last year and I had never used it before but decided that since I didn't have anyone to call to help get it started and I really needed to go somewhere that I would try it out. I can't believe it took this long for me to use it and it goes everywhere with me now. Total game changer for me, I'm no longer afraid of being stranded by the battery.
About the shelling Peas, my moms taught me that there is a membrane inside of the pods that can be taken off, and once removed the pots become really tender and nice to eat. I'm from Denmark so not sure if we have the same types of shelling peas, but it is worth a try!
We have 19 laying hens for just my husband and I (lost one last year) but the most eggs we’ve ever gotten was like 15 in one day. They’ve slowed down to half that because the heat is just terrible right now. It’s been in the 90s since May and in the 100s for the last two weeks. Those strawberries looks fantastic! Y’all are doing so well! Loving seeing your adventures.
Oh, so much wisdom to sew on samplers, and all from one little chat in the kitchen! You have such a beautiful heart, Becky ~ thank you for sharing yourself with us all! God bless you and Josh, always! ❤🙏🏻❤🙏🏻❤🙏🏻❤🙏🏻❤ Beth
Alright you motivated me! I sat down to watch this and you were washing dishes so I dragged my butt to my kitchen. Our well is currently being treated because it's contaminated (pro tip since your moving to a house with a well, test it yearly...) Sooo we're using water in jugs from the neighbors and I just didn't want to deal with my mountain of dishes. But I made a dent into the work while listening to this video and then I'm just gonna give myself some grace ❤️❤️❤️.
If you do by the croissants again, whenever we get them I automatically split them in half when we get home and freeze the other half. I know you mentioned freezing them, just thought I would share the tidbit of doing it right away. Even if they're just in the freezer for a few days it helps with us to not feel rushed to get through them. :) I've learned a lot watching your trial and errors. Thank you
Becky, I remember when the dogs were running through the grass and my first thought was, “Oh no what about ticks!” So glad they’re few and far between.
Yes you can buy a pea sheller. I don’t mind shelling peas. I don’t really like shelling butter beans but I love them lol. I’m not a huge fan of stinging green beans but we like those too. It’s heavy harvest season here and I’m tired. Canning. Freezing. Dehydrating the list is endless. Your new home is going to be a beautiful forever home
Thank you Becky for your positive uplifting words! It's a reminder of Gods gift to us that none of us are perfect and never will be and yet He has given us His unconditional love and grace! I so appreciate your transparency with your videos, showing us real life with real mishaps and mistakes and reminding yourself and us at the time to laugh at ourselves or just say "it's o.k"! Many blessings to you and Josh with your new home and journey and I'm so glad that you're taking us along with you!😊❤️🙏
Yeah!! 🥳🥳it's my birthday today and I was praying you would post a video. I am 59 today and I am reliving my youth through you! Keep up the wonderful work you and Josh are doing. 😍😍😍
105 degrees, feels like temperature 109 ! It seems like it’s been forever since it was that low of a temperature where your at. Love watching your freezer meals and the progress of your new home renovation.
Whoa 😳 Becky where do y'all live? I'm in Texas and the 100'+ heat is eatin our lunch.....I'm over it!!!! I'm ready to move to a milder climate. We get heat from March to October 100'+ from June to October I'm finished I tell ya
The progress you're making is awesome. I think the sound of the dried foam would make me crazy. lol. And Josh,... you are doing an excellent job on your trim!!
Morning Becky, listening to you brought back my memories of growing peas. I had never grown peas & I picked reg peas, started eating it (yuk) I thought I picked it to early. Waited & tried again- it didn't change the uneatable aspect of it. I had planned to grow more then you explained how little I would get. Thank you I'm going to do same as you. While you were eating the strawberries it brought back fun memories of eating veggies in garden when mom sent me out to pick produce. Yuuumy best way to eat them. Have a great productive day. I love watching your videos. You are an amazing woman- you still teach me lots. Thank you- God bless you from grandma Katie in Oregon
When I was little we had a garden and we would take twists of wax paper filled with salt and go pick tomatoes and eat them right there, sun warmed, and bursting with flavor! And in those years, (40's and 50's) no fear of pesticides.
Progress is good! And crossing things off a 'To Do' list is so satisfying. If you are stressed about what may not grow in your garden, you sure hide it well. I appreciate and am encouraged by your "some for the bunnies, some for the birds, some for us." attitude. Am curious how you deal with slugs in your garden. Such a nusance here in the PNW!
There's a TH-cam video where the woman explains how to get out of depression through action, even if only thing you accomplish is a walk. Every try that one thing, then add. I wish I could remember her channel. Perhaps, if you know how to search TH-cam topics. One guy said, make your bed, even if you don't accomplish anything that day, when you go to bed, you'll see one thing you've accomplished. I have cats, they need me to do stuff for them, any pet needs a person's care. Or a plant, that helped me through horrible depression, when I couldn't afford a pet. Pansies outside, deadheading, to get more flowers. If it's too much for today, move it to tomorrow, or the next, etc. Baby steps. Perfection is a trap. Becky's, better done than perfect, philosophy is helpful. Rest if you need it, sit on the porch, patio, walk around, sit in morning or evening sun, name what you see. Look for beauty, gratitudes, even if it's only the beauty of the sun shining through a drop of water on a blade of grass. Or being warm and dry in my little shack. My crappy childhood, TH-camr has some good tips also. Better alone in a house with a leaky roof, than a house with a contentious husband. Healing is a process, be patient with it. I wish you the best.
I am sooooooo hooked on your videos. I haven’t stop binged watching your videos. I am very much in love with this family. Happy you got your beautiful homestead. I am from Belize.
Great weather for you guys. We live in Texas zone 9a this past weekend we hit 106-107 and yesterday we hit 107 for sure... good thing we got solar panels. Happy gardening
You’re doing a great job. You have a lot of balls in the air right now and I’m amazed you get done as much as you do. On top of that you stay so positive 😊
A huge memory from my childhood is my dad sat on the living room floor in the evening watching TV and shelling peas! He must have spent hours and hours doing it over the summer!
When I was growing up, my mother was not fond of me grazing through the garden when I should have been harvesting things to bring in for preserving or our meal. Garden grazing is the best.
My grandmother used to say when you get a job done, looked back and it will thank you. I find that in my kitchen. If I can get one section of counter completely cleaned off, I can look back and it will say thank you for clearing me.
That is so so true. It is so easy to get caught up in making progress and ‘getting it done’ that you forget to take time for yourself but I find the job will be done much better if you take time out to rest occasionally. If you continually push on to ‘get it done’ you may find that the progress made is not quite as good as you would like it to be and you can be disappointed with it later.
Those two types of peas look amazing! You go pretty lady! oMG I'm so jealous of all of those strawberries after you took that bite and showed the center * none in the stores look that delicious but in the town I live in they have strawberry feasts and are well known for their berries they still look and taste amazing but your's also look so much sweeter and juicer. I too love eating fresh goodies while in the garden=) I use to grab a tomato and eat it like an apple with a lil salt and pepper, it was amazing. Hope to have another big garden once we are moved, I miss it so very much! Yea it is, I had too many chickens at first but it was the best eggs we've ever had and I could no longer eat the eggs in stores they hurt me, no joke. I agree, once I stopped trying for perfection in my kitchen all the time and gave myself the grace to relax some and get other things done it felt soooooo good! You would never walk in my kitchen and see a dirty dish even after freezer cooking 20 years ago but now I'm smarter I get done more everywhere and it seems like so much less stress until I have more time to accomplish the other and the rest of my dishes when I'm not in such a hurry. I actually enjoy it more now too. I've left a sink or two piled up myself and I never regret it one bit anymore. You worked your butt off on those freezer meals to keep you guys healthy and your energy up, in the garden, and on the house, it's great to see you go easy on yourself in different areas!!!
For shading the summer sun, look at what are called sun sails. They shade what is underneath them outside which can be deck, siding, and also windows depending upon rhe configuration.
@@tjeanvlogs9894 look at Harbor Freight Tools (HFT), black mesh, 60%-70% UV ray blocking, sun shades found in the tarp department. They have a "side" identified by looking at the tape with rivets sewn around thier edges; placed correctly they are better for shading but, you can't see in except for shadows at night either. We've used them ourselves in different ways but have also installed them at other's places. They work best outside with at least a little bit of dead air space; ends of eaves, hung over a roof and held in place by bricks, on a roof wrapped over 4"x4"s. But they dropped a friend's brightly window lit apartment's temperature by 20 plus degrees when hung as curtains over mini blinds and as a curtain liner over the big windows; warning the mesh is uneven and can't be used as a cutting measurement guide AND it likes to ravel so must be folded immediately and then at least hand tacked in place.
Thanks for taking us along on your journey! Just before I sat down to watch this video, I spent a little time in my garden...weeds, Japanese beetles, and deer can make me discouraged but then looking at healthy looking tomato plants, green beans in flower and a zucchini ready to harvest can certainly help!
Hiya Becky, Aussie Beki here lol ..You know what I think would look ultra awesome in the sunroom for the windows.. Plantation Blinds. You can control the light and they would really compliment the trim :) We have some in the house we just moved to and I really love them. Another bonus is they are super easy to clean. Hugs x
I've found using a serrated steak knife or tomato knife works great for cutting/trimming excess foam spray around windows and doors. Comfortable handle to hold, and gentle sawing motion works like a charm! Enjoyed the video. I literally said "OH NOOO" when that truck didn't start! LOL ~~M~~
Thank you for your videos, inspiration & honesty! Love your adventures, the garden, the chickens & it’s gonna be ok attitude! Love the new home & including all of us on your journey!
Hi Becky, whenever I buy Costco croissants I always put them in a freezer bag and stick them in the freezer. They go bad really fast as you discovered. Then you can just pull out one or two and set it on the counter and it thaws in 10 or 15 minutes. Love your videos.
I buy croissants at Fred meyer. I get 12 for 7.99 or 8.99. And then I make my hubby sausage patty breakfast sandwiches out of them. And then individually wrap them and put in the freezer, 4 sandwichesto a gallon size ziplock. Then I write on them what they are on the bag. Last time I bought them they had croissants with everything bagel seasoning on them. He loved those. I make the breakfast sandwiches with a sausage patty, different sliced cheeses, then I use my egg steamer that has a little round tray. And I scramble eggs and put a 1/4" of egg mixture in that round tray and steam it till it puffs up. And I use that for the egg in the sandwiches. Works great. I make him croissant, English muffin and biscuit breakfast sandwiches. That way he can grab the kind he wants out of the freezer the night before and take them to work. And then heat them up in the microwave at work.
Your new home is coming along so lovely with the beautiful trim. I'm not surprised you bought the house due to that view you have, it's stunning beautiful... I couldn't keep my eye off it while you where moving around with your filming. 😊
17:43 Seeing you so positive about plants that size makes me feel better about my garden. First year, and i have had a very rough start, but i am still hopefull, and greatfull for what is growing 😊
Becky I look forward to all your new videos. I hope you continue to find peace and happiness in your new adventures. Keep up the great work and wonderful content.
Great garden Becky. I’m with you on peas. Shelling peas is not my most fun time. ( not a good time ). We got enough to snack on as far as shelling peas go and I was sad because I love garden peas. But you need to plant a ton of shelling peas. Good luck with the new house,
A landscape designer I once knew told me we have to not plant just for ourselves but for the animals/wildlife too-- I never forgot that.

I agree too!!
When I finally adopted the saying "progress not perfection" my life was a lot happier! :)
Practice makes progress! ☺️

"Done is better than perfect." I REALLY needed to hear this today, so thank you for sharing such heartfelt positivity and motivation.
I just want to hug you! What a lovely lady you are!

What a lovely gracious lady you are❤️. Sending Irish hugs to you from England 🇬🇧☘️💐💐💐💐🥰🥰
Thank you Molly for your compliment, from Chicago, Illinois. Have a blessed day.🥰🥰🙏🏻👍👍🌹❤️
Hi Becky, put pinwheels in your garden and it will help keep moles the moles out.
Oh I have moles all over my yard
Or get a cat! I had no idea I had a mole problem until my neighbors cat (that adopted me for some reason) started leaving them at my door 😬 sometimes 2 or 3 a day! I've also read that cats will bring you their dead catch because they think you're to stupid to hunt for yourself so I'm just greatfull either way....😄
@@melissajohnson2935 cat brings them a gift because they want you to see how great they are at hunting, kind of like a pride thing to their owners.
❤🙏🏻❤🙏🏻❤🙏🏻❤🙏🏻❤🙏🏻❤🙏🏻...😌
A serrated steak knife also works, it’s what we’ve always used over the years.
Helps me thank you :)
We tint our windows .. Easy and it's so helpful UV..Heat
That's a always a good idea, and the best part is it will not harm the plants if you decide to use that room as a "greenhouse." Red and blue light, what plants need, still gets through while blocking harmful and floor/furniture fading uv rays.
Came for the food ideas, stayed for the garden inspo and delighted by the home renovation! This is an awesome channel by an awesome woman
Yep, I always freeze all the croissants and pull them out as I need them. They cone back like fresh. 🤗
Good to know! Thanks!
Costco croissants 🥐 for 1.5min in the air fryer 😋 it’s A game changer 👌
such a blessing to hear Josh whistling...you two are so sweet and hardworking.
Dzien dobry!
I watch it while I knit socks and t-shirts
Love the show
Bec
Oh yes 2 dishwashers are better than 2 oven! I have had kitchens in both configurations. If only I could have both. Diswashing has 3 options, hand, machine, trash.
Oven you have multiple cooking options even bringing the pan to be cooked over someone elses home- not so with dishes!
2 diswashers are a game changer!
SMART!!!
I absolutely LOVE the compliments. "That looks great Josh" "Thank you" :)
My little 18 month old doesn’t usually sit still long enough to watch anything with me, but your videos are special. Makes me happy to share something like this with her. She’s going to be watching us build our own dream homestead within the next couple years as well 🥰

My four year old loves watching Becky with me. She is so excited for the baby to come. Had to explain it will be a bit yet. Lol
I grew up with shelling peas. I completely understand where you are coming from but I had some wonderful memories getting to know my Great Aunt, my Grandma and Mom shelling peas together. We would sit in a circle on the porch and we talked, laughed and sang.
Hi Becky
I am a retired empty nester and I terribly miss having people to cook for and with!.
I love watching your show so much!! I make tv dinners, freezer meals for myself and trying a small garden.
You are just charming, funny and interesting. Thanks for the fun
Same here...miss cooking for people but love watching becky im always inspired.
Is there in your area a possibility to share a cooking group? The benefit is to meet new people or to cook for your neighbours ? Wish you the best😀
"Don't let perfection become the enemy of progress". = ) Also, it's best to not stack fire wood near your home structure. Pests, fire hazard, etc.
I agree. I know living in the South, termites and carpenter ants love to live in the wood and eventually your home.

I envy your temperatures. It's 107° with a heat index of 110° here in Central Texas at the moment. On a positive note, after you did some of your dishes I paused the video to go get more tea, and you inspired me to wash two bowls I had used this morning. :-)
I lived in Portland for 12 yrs and then moved to Louisiana. I have been in Louisiana for 20 yrs and I still can't tolerate the heat and humidity.
Yep the contractor suppressor a ride
That’s what I was thinking. We just had all our old water lines in our house replaced and they had to cut holes in the drywall everywhere there was a joint. We put patches in and I’ve been working on smoothing on drywall mud in a way where you can’t tell there was a patch. It’s a lot of work, and usually takes at least 2-3 layers, but it would have been more costly to completely re-do all the walls.
It made me so happy when you said you was ok sharing your garden with the bunnies. God bless you and your family.
Since it has been around 100 degrees in Southern Missouri, seeing you in a jacket in the garden looks so wonderful!! Enjoy your VLOG.
I was just thinking that. It still feels like 107 (actually 99) and it's 8:30, here in Texas.
You should take pix of your garden when it is in full bloom so you can use them for your real estate listing when you decide to sell. Gorgeous!!
It’s so nice to see a couple who supports and respects their spouse. You two work so well together finding each other’s weaknesses and each others strengths. I wish you both all the love and happiness this life has to offer.
My chickens got quinoa muffins this morning. They were rally racing with the cranberries in their mouth 🤣
Becky you totally missing out in nasturtium pesto & flower salad toppers!

You can make peapod soup from the pods from shelling peas.
Never knew that! Waste not want not!
I love shelling peas. I've shelled purple hull peas all day & loved it, plus I had a ton of peas preserved for future meals.
Sheer curtains work too. I live in the woods and we. Have sheer urbanism pulled back w

I agree.... that view is too beautiful to obstruct with curtains. Also, I'm wondering what your doggies thought of the squeaky foam. Lol
Love to hear you say "caulk". I'm from TX so we say it different. I needed this today. Needed to see your energy and diverse abilities.
If you do by the croissants again, whenever we get them I automatically split them in half when we get home and freeze the other half. I know you mentioned freezing them, just thought I would share the tidbit of doing it right away. Even if they're just in the freezer for a few days it helps with us to not feel rushed to get through them. :)
I've learned a lot watching your trial and errors. Thank you
Sheer curtains work. We live in the middle of the woods and have them pulled back most of the time, an done when it is sunny

We are just beginning our homesteading journey; thanks for sharing your knowledge and encouragement.
I have been so down lately. When you post a video it gives me so much motivation to get up and get going on things ! Thank you for being you!
Hang in there, keep hope alive! 💝
❤️🙏🏻

You’re doing a great job. You have a lot of balls in the air right now and I’m amazed you get done as much as you do. On top of that you stay so positive 😊
Right!? She is always so happy! Last year we moved, renovated our old house and sold it and had a baby. I was stressed out of my mind haha.
@@bluebirdhomestead congratulations! having a baby certainly added much more stress. Hope you all settled into your new home nicely
Your home is really coming along, well done on your progress, remember to also rest! Xx
This is a great option for the maritime Pac NW climate. We need what ever sun we can get in the colder months (Sept to June)
You are so strong and energetic and sooooo full of wisdom for one so young. Bless you for your videos and we truly do feel we are your friends ❤️🤗
Honey you are a force of nature. You threw all that wood like a Boss. I love all your videos. Thank you for sharing your life with us.
Josh, that looks amazing! You two are a GREAT TEAM! ♥️♥️
LOL ~~M~~
Yes me too
You are so awesome Becky. I have learned lots from you about gardening and I am 58 years old lol. Love watching videos with you and your dear mom
Your gardens gorgeous 😍, I can't wait to see the sun room finished. You & Josh are a great team ❤️
We do the same with the croissants.😊
Totally agree with ya for sure on no curtains in the sun room! Trim is gorgeous and it’s really a pretty view!
