Hi! I’m a new subscriber and I used to work at Yumiko so I’ll share a few tips ! The Leo’s are made ridiculously small compared to competitor brands. I really dk why. Many people have different sizes with different Yumiko styles , it’s just how they r made . Denise and Daria run extremely small compared to other styles , so I always recommend ppl to size up when I was at the store . Same goes for Leo styles that have sleeves . On the other hand , styles like Fiona and Gina with mesh may feel bigger with the same size bc of the mesh . Hope this might be helpful to someone !

Leotard sizing is way more complicated than it needs to be. So its awesome to hear your experience and tips with leos. I'll defintely check out the bloch cami!

❤This motivated me to go leotard shopping I always struggle to find leotards that fit me because iam pretty tall and a size m to L which means xl in ballet stores 🫥 …Buuut sometimes I am luckyy so wish me luck ✨
I do agree that dancers should keep in mind every size of everything is relative to different standards. Personally I get happy when I am considered a medium in ballet as opposed to a small or extra small because small-extra small makes me feel like I don't take up space or am insubstantial. Personally, I find Asian sizing nice because I am Asian and its nice to be the average somewhere 😭. That being said...its a bit crazy there's only like 5 sizes offered in most clothing brands for thousands of humans 😶 I haven't tried Yumiko though and wonder if its even smaller than the brands I have tried

I’m a returning ballet student, it’s been a loooong time. I would like to get the Capezio trash bag shorts and pants and I think we look about the same size. What size are yours? I can’t tell how these run
Was looking around for some ideas on new Leos to purchase and this is what I needed! Anyway just a tip, if you’ll like to cover your bosom you can just slot those removable bra cups between your chest and leo :)
I keep over-stretching as well 😢I know there’s a fine difference between challenging stretch (healthy) and painful stretch (not healthy) but they both feel the same to me, the only difference is my tendons will pop when I’ve over done it. I am also coming from teachers who would force me down into stretches so I don’t really know any different (I haven’t done any classes in like 10 years now). Any advice to know when you’ve gone too far and how to go slow and steady when stretching?
Yessss I totally understand!! Honestly, lately I've been trying to "underdo" it vs. overdoing it and realllllly focus on using my breath to guide me into stretches rather than using my mind. It's definitely a lesson in strength because it's so easy to want to push all the time. I've found that my body is so much more willing to open up when I just let it relax instead of forcing it.

I don’t come across many other ballet channels that focus on enjoying the journey, loving our bodies, and being gentle with our ourselves so your channel is very refreshing. I really appreciate the tips and positivity 💜
Funnily enough, there IS a three legged ballet dancer charcter in the game Sons of the Forest, very random but when you said wanting all of your legs covered my mind flipped to poor Virginia Puffton

I remember I bought a leotard from a store (it was my FIRST time ever) and asked the lady what size I would be (they didn't have space to try on things). Lady said LARGE and I actually bought it. This was when I was smaller. Sheesh. I actually fit a Medium even now at my heaviest (due to PCOS). I was so upset with that lady, I tried it on and it looked so BAD on me too.
I’m sorry about your experience😢, it’s like she didn’t even care about actually helping you. Don’t let that lady ruin your future experiences with trying on leotards, they will get much better! Also the PCOS, I have that as well, it’s tough 💜
Man, I'm so sorry to hear about this. Leotard shopping can really be like that sometimes. I think some people have weird passive aggression issues that they need to take out on other people. But no matter what size the label says, the size of our bodies don't define who we are
Hey! This might be be too personal (and if it is, please feel free to ignore/delete) but I personally struggle with finding leotards that hold my breasts well for jumps etc. I often end up wearing leotards with a lot of coverage so that I can just wear a bra underneath. Any advice?
I wish I had more advice but as a member of the itty bittie tittie committee I struggle more with finding leotards for the opposite end, definitely leave this question here and someone more knowledgable than me may be able to help you!
Gosh, what is it with leotards and additional butt cheeks? I know it’s probably the shape of my hips, cause with me, everything that’s not a pair of shorts inevitably becomes a G string up the butt :p

Many new leotard brands are from Asia so they size small. AND many use s, m, l for children, so xl just means over age 12 😅. It's chaos out there!
