Mike Tyson is one of my favorite people. He made the journey from broken child, to warrior, to broken man, to philosopher. He proved it's never too late to change your ways for good.
Mike didn't and couldn't do it on his own. His wise and very knowledgeable father figure Cus D Amato set him up for long term success. Had Mike not had him in his life, I doubt he would've turned into the wise man he is today.
Mike Tyson. He sounds like an old warrior/ancient sage of 103 years old, like a new born learning to speak but brought all the knowledge of a previous life with him. Love and respect, may God keep you Mike.
@saint jack man shut yo dumbass up. Why the fuck you come here for hating on this man. He was the youngest heavyweight Champion of all time. For sure he had weak sides, like everyone has. But going into the ring with this dude must have be insane... think about a 22/23yrs old tyson who got the strengh to kill you with one clean punch. Gtfo with that stupid hate shit. "Mongster" lol...and we were exactly the same. Before all the ppv bullshit. 3am itv we were buzzin waiting for the entrance...and what would ultimately follow
the true message everyone seems to be missing here is this. That fear and pain go hand and hand. Mike used his pain to propell him. What was his pain? his fears from past trauma and his past. So what did he jsut really say in this interview? that to be the best in his field, he gave up his humanity by feeding off from his fear. When it comes to personal growth and enlightment, pain and fear will only "fck u up" worse then myke tyson can knock you out. I like how current fighters are drawing from other emotional positive places. Perhaps mike tyson was the best of the best, because he had the most deepest pain of them all. Made him the great man he is today, the pain? no, it wasn't the pain, it was the ability he gained to leave the pain behind why he has become so great. not myke the boxer from 30 years ago who was a monster destroyed inside full of rage, but the humble mature level headed man he is today.
Cocncur. I'll even go further. Fear is pain. The human tendency is to avoid pain, fear included. However, if someone can will themself to withstand pain they will go far in life. If one can't bring themself to withstand pain then they will naturally take the more pleasurable road in life, leading to a mediocre life. In summary, after 40 years on this planet, I've learned the key to life: how much you willing to suffer for what you want determines how far you will go. If you are not prepared to suffer, the man who is, will beat you nine times out of ten.
Well said! I appreciate the worth of knowledge of what the comment section as to offer especially for this thread now I’m a young man that likes to think deeper as I go along the journey though-out my entire life and what I would like to say is that without the feeling of pain or experience you won’t be able to form and develop properly as a human being.
He was always like that... the media made him look like a monster and he believed it too... check out the old interview of him an Larry King and you will see Mike was always a smart guy!
This was an experience from my first amateur boxing match , and it helped turning into what I am today. Long ago, I thought I had to be the "peaceful warrior".So I tried to fight a defensive fight in my first match. Little did I know, my nervousness got the better of me. It was like someone inside is telling me to run, just run. I was knock in the head plenty of times. It hurt, the voice became louder, asking me to just stay down, just forfeit the match. I wanted to,but something inside was telling me not to. By the end of the first round, I had a bloody nose , and a bruised eye. I could still see,but being hit so many times, I felt like something broke inside me,and he just doesn't want to fight anymore. By the beginning of the second round, it was then I remembered another voice inside me, this was the voice that kept me from being knocked out. And I decided to feed that voice ,I ignored the beast who wanted to quit ,I fed the beast who won't stay down with fear and anger. And boy,it worked like magic. I was a different person in the second round. I just came on him ,and slug it out with him, showing him "is that all you got?" "You better kill me if you want to win,cuz I'm gonna hurt ya" I felt like I was dominating the second round. I was the predator, and he became the prey. All my mind, I only thought about hurting him ,killing him. I didn't care about the world ,I just wanted to throw all the frustrations I had against the world on him. If he dies, he dies. He thought he could beat me and eat me like I'm a prey. Little did he knew, he awakened something inside me , he opened the door for the Mr Hyde inside me, he freed the berserker inside me. And I'm grateful. Since then, in future matches, I harnessed and used my fear and rage like a sharpened knife and break my opponents physically and mentally.
Powerful concept and information. If you feed that beast and treat it like a predator/prey situation, in times of pain and fear, you can harness a higher awareness and level of power from within. Harnessing anger and fear with animal instinctual like motivation has some profound effects and gives you a deeper understanding of yourself to the say the least.

So i drove slowly and confidently looking for every possible signs of danger and little by little the more i drove the less the fear became and now i drive on the fastest lane and i am not afraid of crashing. I know i wont crash but i avoid crashing by taking measures and steps and always using my skills. If your not confident in your skills then fear will stop you from doing anything so to be fearless you need to start small drive around the block, go to the park, drive to the nearest store, and finally drive towards a city that you know youll be confident in getting such as an appointment. Fear makes you think that you can't but being confident in yourself gives you courage to conquer fear. You can be the most beautiful man in the world and if your not confident then fear will devour you but if your the ugliest man on the planet and you have confidence in yourself then you can drive any car whether it be a lambo or ferrari or even a damn tractor in the fields. A man of class I see
Awesome interview
I love Mike Tyson, he's a real interesting guy. Before social media arrived people communicated by word of mouth/telephone. I remember my father telling me when I was young to watch out for this new guy called Mike Tyson, the rest is history. Greetings from Ireland my fighting family!

An important step in continued success is facing your fears and always improving. Never be complacent.
