Thriving on Fear and the Journey Towards Redemption with Mike Tyson

  • You shouldn’t judge a book by its cover, and the same goes for heavyweight boxing legend Mike Tyson. The New York-native’s troubled youth was full of tough times, loss, and years in and out of crime. But along the way, Mike’s natural talent as a fighter and truly unique human being was discovered and led to him winning the heavyweight boxing title at the unheard-of age of 20. He’d go on to become one of the most naturally talented athletes and fiercest competitors to ever live, earning numerous titles and hundreds of millions of dollars in winnings, a fortune he’d lose nearly just as fast while struggling with toxic media attention, drug abuse, and failed relationships. I sat down with Mike at his Tyson Ranch, home to his latest ventures and production company, to discuss the intimate moments of his journey, many of which you haven’t heard via the media. Prepare for an emotional and intense conversation about thriving on fear, searching for redemption, struggling with self-control, and learning from the past in search of a better future. This is the true story of Mike Tyson’s second act.

With winning came loss as his entire support system crumbled around him as Cus was gone, Jim Jacobs died and everything began to wither and fade until the darkness took over. I believe that Tyson was never truly able to taste success again in boxing without his family around him at that crucial moment in time. He had to tear it down completely and rebuild to where he is today. The real blessing is that he didn't succumb to his destructive tendencies and become a casualty.

He's as legendary as Ali any time due to his huge struggle through times that would destroy many a man. I speak from experience, understanding and total respect of who Mike is today. You don't need to be highlighting comments he made decades ago that he probably hates himself for. Give him the credence he deserves because he is having a bigger positive impact to the human race than me and you could together. The man is a born again legend and deserves complete respect for laying himself bare in front of the planet. He denies nothing he's done. This is why we have to denied ourselves everyday. I believe we use the word LOVE to often when in reality we don’t really know the meaning. Even Jesus Battle to die for this world, that’s why he said father passed this cup; not only that he only, selected 12 disciples. That was the teaching of Paul brotherly love; be at peace with every Man.........I believe in The most high obedience is better than sacrifice; God called me to obey not to be part of the world and love everybody but to be at peace ; he destroyed the world twice and his coming again, if he loves everybody why he destroyed Sodoma and Gomorrah and the people of Noah 🤔 read Génesis 6:6-7

I think just like this man, always have and it's the reason I've never had many friends. I, too, was bullied just like Tyson when I was younger. I became a boxer for that reason and fell off when life got tough. Tyson is my idol, and the more I listen to him the more strength I develop to conquer my own world. With that being said, "A person who is friends with everyone is an enemy to themselves" is 100% right, and in my case, I was too real and outspoken for anyone to want to be my friend because they lived their lives running from who they really were while I was willing to face my own demons/fears alone and that's scary as fuck to a lot of people but I'm ok with that.
If you can't come to terms with yourself, you can't come to terms with life and if you can't come to terms with life then you're simply just a nobody. If you can come to terms with yourself, you can come to terms with your life, and if you can come to terms with your life then you're winning. It all starts with you not with your friends/people.
