I forgot what interview it was, might have been with Joe Rogan, where he said something like Cus taught him to go berserk mode. It was like a switch he would flip before a fight where his only concern was winning the fight. Like a violent trance. So true. My dad and grandpa were so into boxing that we got cable so we could see the under fights in 84. It wasn't much longer that Tyson was on ESPN seemingly twice a month. Every time we saw him he looked scarier but he would always show respect to the opponent and the ref.

I'm a diehard Tyson fan, but man do I have respect for Razor .....and the sportsmanship between them both at the end of the 2nd fight was uncanny. Ruddock was on of the kindest gentleman I ever met. I was in high school and I boxed at Golden Gloves gym in Las Vegas, NV. I arrive at school one day and recognize a team of men on the track and football field. One was Ruddock's manager who's name I fail to recall. Ruddock was suppose to show for wind sprints and other running. His manager and team talked to me for 20 minutes about boxing and my love for the sport. He told me to be there same time the next day to meet Ruddock because now they knew he was not coming. The next day I was there and Ruddock no shows again and I go to class but not before Ruddock's manager got my name before I left. 30 minutes later the Principal comes to my first period class and asks for me. He walks me to the football field where I met Mr. Ruddock and his team. They sent for me. Amazing day. For 30 minutes he talked to me about his game plan to fight Mike. He gave me a Leather Coat that had his image in colorful leather throwing the smash punch that said Team Ruddock across the rear shoulder area. He then had me out to his sparring sessions to watch him train. This was a Large powerful man. Tyson was my size and Ruddock dwarfed me. I was lucky enough to have tickets to their rematch. Anyways, that is what happened and how I met Ruddock. Good guy.
Tyson for the brute he was, he had impressive defensive skills too. Extremely fun to watch his whack-a-mole technique where he was just crouching and popping up. But you knew that if he hit you with a left hook or uppercut when he was coming up from this crouch, it's "nite-nite". Mad respect for the fighters who stepped in the ring with him and took multiple of those punches in th chin without going to another dimension.

And it's a shame. I guess when you fight the best and you lose, it's like climbing the highest mountain. After that, there's really nothing left to do. So you kinda lose motivation because you know your limit and know you'll get passed that to achieve your goal. He wanted the title, Tyson was in the way and he knew could never beat him.

I'm a diehard Tyson fan, but man do I have respect for Razor .....and the sportsmanship between them both at the end of the 2nd fight was uncanny. Never knew that Ruddock beat Lewis and Lewis beat the sh*t out of Tyson essentially ending his career, so someone can always figure out an opponent someone else couldn't. I miss those days of heavy-weight fighting.

Ruddock was on of the kindest gentleman I ever met. I was in high school and I boxed at Golden Gloves gym in Las Vegas, NV. I arrive at school one day and recognize a team of men on the track and football field. One was Ruddock's manager who's name I fail to recall. Ruddock was suppose to show for wind sprints and other running. His manager and team talked to me for 20 minutes about boxing and my love for the sport. He told me to be there same time the next day to meet Ruddock because now they knew he was not coming. The next day I was there and Ruddock no shows again and I go to class but not before Ruddock's manager got my name before I left. 30 minutes later the Principal comes to my first period class and asks for me. He walks me to the football field where I met Mr. Ruddock and his team. They sent for me. Amazing day. For 30 minutes he talked to me about his game plan to fight Mike. He gave me a Leather Coat that had his image in colorful leather throwing the smash punch that said Team Ruddock across the rear shoulder area. He then had me out to his sparring sessions to watch him train. This was a Large powerful man. Tyson was my size and Ruddock dwarfed me. I was lucky enough to have tickets to their rematch. Anyways, that is what happened and how I met Ruddock. Good guy.

Tyson for the brute he was, he had impressive defensive skills too. Extremely fun to watch his whack-a-mole technique where he was just crouching and popping up. But you knew that if he hit you with a left hook or uppercut when he was coming up from this crouch, it's "nite-nite". It's always a disappointment when a fight is stopped, but it beats seeing a guy having his career ended or someone lying dead on the mat. It looked like the right call to me.

I cannot imagine getting your jaw broken from a punch, and the pain that must entail, but the fact that he managed to keep fighting 9 ROUNDS, whilst continually being hit with a broken jaw is beyond me. He must've been in excruciating pain constantly. I have nothing but respect to all boxers, because only one of the punches they take and give 100s of times during a fight would be enough to break my ribcage and fracture my skull.

Tyson ended lots of boxers' hopes and dreams and it was fun watching it.
And it's a shame. I guess when you fight the best and you lose, it's like climbing the highest mountain. After that, there's really nothing left to do. So you kinda lose motivation because you know your limit and know you'll get passed that to achieve your goal. He wanted the title, Tyson was in the way and he knew could never beat him.

Even though they can fight on the inside the opponent can try and put their body weight on them. Take Tyson Fury for example. In his second fight with deontay wilder he took every chance he got to put his weight on him.

Tyson's head movement never really gets talked about because of his power, but it really was insane how well he could slip punches.
