Yup, I'm so old, I remember when their burgers were .25 cents each. They would announce on local television stations when Ronald McDonald was coming to a location near you and it was such an event with literally hundreds and hundreds of kids plus parents you could hardly get near the store. This was in the late 60's early 70's, you would think the circus had come to town.

I’ve been looking for a jammy apple pie filling! I like those more than the extremely apple-forward ones. I’m going to try using this filling in a full pie and see how I like it. Thanks Josh!
My daughter wanted mini apples pies today so gave these a shot. First off, when Josh says let the filling cool completely before assembly he means freakin ice cold or you’re working with melted butter and flour instead of puff pastry. Also his “pinch” of salt is a must to balance this out. I cut the sugar to 1/3 each but was still very sweet. Big hit in the house but going to tweak a bit to my own tastes
@Farres Maruf big hit in the family. I prefer regular apple pie but these were great to pack as desserts for my kids’ lunches. Store bought puff was fine. I cut the sugar a lot
I didn’t expect garam masala to be put in the sugar cinnamon, why was it? Pies look amazing! Received your book can’t wait to try some recipes, bagel loaf looks good, it all looks good
They actually stopped making the fried pies in the US when the American Heart Association started their push that fried foods caused heart attacks. Everyone wanted healthier options and quit buying fried pies everywhere. It was also at this time that they quit frying their fries in lard, for the same reason. Frankly, when they did, the tastes of both the pies and the fries went to hell. Lard is the perfect fat for frying food in; it adds so much flavor to pie crusts and fried foods.
Teeeeechnically....the US still has fried apple pie. As if you didn't need another reason to come to Hawaii but we still have them and you don't need a passport.
I mean, if the customer isn't being mean or rude or anything, I don't know why you wouldn't be nice to them. Even if you feel like you aren't making your money's worth.(have worked minimum wage and got in trouble with a customer who thinks they run the place. But still nice to other customers)
@@coleragsdale4827 from the video i thought they were plenty nice, idk if he's expecting overly peppy employees from mcdonalds or what. idk when i go to fast food as long as they get my order right and aren't spitting in my food i'm satisfied. maybe it's because i've spent years in the food industry so i'm entirely over it by now and can sympathize when someone else is over it 😅
I interpreted it less that it is the responsibility of the employees, but rather the employer. If the sentiment is that McD's should pay better and then their employees might be happier, I'd for sure agree. If he's criticizing the workers, I definitely don't love that
@@NicksGamingClips I think he was criticizing the Employer given how he specifically said he wouldn't be "particularly enthusiastic if he worked there" to rephrase what he said slightly.
Go to any Chick-Fil-A in the country and you will see that a minimum wage fast food worker can indeed be very nice and helpful! Always a uniformed awesome experience going to Chick-fil-a. You may say "it's my pleasure" to go there. lol
I just made these (baked) and omg they are soooo easy and yummy only thing wrong is I used premade pie crust (BIGGGG MISTAKE) they busted open and had cracks but still so good omg
I used to work at McDonald's, the pies that we got were all frozen, we just popped them into the oven and then there was a preset button for pies, they baked roughly for 12:00 min and then we kept them for a few hours under the hot light bulbs near the fries station to keep them warm before we threw them away and made a fresh batch (usually does not happen, pies used to finish before the designated time that we could keep them for sale).
Would love to see you do Carmel Apple Empanadas from TacoBell! They discontinued them and aside from them being a bite of pure lava, they were incredible.
My only criticism-- Fuji apples are some of the sweetest that you can find. I would use Cortland, Envy, Pink Lady or Braeburn in no particular order. When adding cups of sugar, these usually end up with a better balanced flavor IMO. Just my 2c! With that being said, of course JW's would be fantastic!

I just had your video recommended and i am blown away with your food culinary skills. Im subbed
LMAOOOO Joshua you’re hilarious to watch seriously lol you’re pies came out awesome! Now I can’t wait to try this out! Thank you!!!
Aldi is still the king with it's 40 cents apple triangle that doesn't have garbage in it and tastes like McDonald's apple pie
The humor of Josh and the crew has been on point lately. Keep it up guys
I honestly love how Josh is adding a correct amount of comedy to his professional cooking like WOW! IM PROUD OF YOU PAPA!
Really? I think his cooking and teaching are great, but I don’t laugh once and cringe my sphincter shut when he goes into that light footed falsetto.
@@nicholaslovett6248 He's a nut!
How about when he zooms in on his ass? Does this guy have friends? Why are they telling him anything...@@katielove9932
Oooh I'm making this after Passover!!! Great idea for a work snack, thanks Josh!!!!
“Cut the apples into 1inch cubes”
*cuts them smaller*
I guess if all guys measure inches like that it explains lots of things 😂😅
No hate here it’s a joke ✌🏼
My wife tells me it's 9 inches.
Stick to your day job and don’t try standup.
I was just diagnosed with terminal brain cancer and prescribed medical cannabis - your episodes are 100% gold when watched after medication 🤗🤗🤗🤗
I’ve been looking for a jammy apple pie filling! I like those more than the extremely apple-forward ones. I’m going to try using this filling in a full pie and see how I like it. Thanks Josh!
Made these in a mini Keebler brand pie crust topped with Pillsberry brand pie dough…. BEST THING EVER OMG.
I followed your recipe and baked the pies in an air fryer.
It was amazing.
Thank you for sharing
Why does josh always goes after my favourites 😅
*_This looks too delicious! You made this brilliantly._*
Honestly I’m gonna make the pie filling & eat it with vanilla ice cream 😍
My daughter wanted mini apples pies today so gave these a shot. First off, when Josh says let the filling cool completely before assembly he means freakin ice cold or you’re working with melted butter and flour instead of puff pastry. Also his “pinch” of salt is a must to balance this out. I cut the sugar to 1/3 each but was still very sweet. Big hit in the house but going to tweak a bit to my own tastes
I was wanting to make the baked version, thank you for sharing some tips :)
@@bellagab3 yeah I did the baked version because I’m a wimp
How was it? I'm making the baked version tomorrow and am debating between using store bought puff pastry or making his pie crust
@Farres Maruf big hit in the family. I prefer regular apple pie but these were great to pack as desserts for my kids’ lunches. Store bought puff was fine. I cut the sugar a lot
@@LazarusLong10 Sounds great! I'm making them for a friendsgiving tomorrow so I appreciate the response!
Papa loves his children so much that he puts their names on his shirt. I am honored, truly.
Thank you so much for mentioning under salted pie crust. I've doubled the salt in my crust recipe and it makes it so much better.
Congrats on the success of your book! I really need to try this. I haven't enjoyed the pies since they stopped frying them.
I didn’t expect garam masala to be put in the sugar cinnamon, why was it? Pies look amazing! Received your book can’t wait to try some recipes, bagel loaf looks good, it all looks good
I’ve never had a fried mcdonalds pie so I really appreciate this video. Thank you Papa
You don’t know how long I’ve waited for someone to properly show me how create these 🤣😂
Can we get a “kitchen safety video” like grease fires, cross contamination, prep. Things of that sorts. Please Papa!
Yes this is a amazing idea because my older kids love watching you! And I get nervous when they start tearing my kitchen up 😭😩
The fried apple pies are still available in some countries around the world. Strange that they are no longer sold in the U.S.
Right?? Especially since the US fries EVERYTHING. 😂
@@jenniferpimentel9116 Not EVERYTHING, but damned near...lol
Teeeeechnically....the US still has fried apple pie. As if you didn't need another reason to come to Hawaii but we still have them and you don't need a passport.
@@lazyieg Get Josh over there so he can do the retro version 😉
2:22 "The score would be higher if they were nicer."
Joshua... if only you ever worked minimum wage at fast food...
You may say "it's my pleasure" to go there. lol
Got your book, as a 13 year old, really love it I got it for Christmas thank you from the UK

Once more germany laughs as we have the fried apple pies since always.
In Germany they still sell the fried ones and i really love them:) a bakery called pfalzgraf produces them for them
Popeye’s still fries their pies and they are so good!!!
Rally’s and Checkers still fries theirs also 😩

KFC has a deep fried apple pie too.

I would love to see some special like "cook witk kendrick" when he makes his fav food with joshua commentary
21st time telling PAPA to make:
- Mapo Tofu.
Recipe starts at 4:03 !
I made these with my mom, and they were AMAZING. Much, much better than McDonald’s, and possibly any other apple pie I’ve ever had.
Didn't you know, fried is a flavour at McDonalds... they were just sold out 😂
got hit with the bots huh?
This made me remember when a kid in primary school brang everyone an apple pie from McDonalds. What a chad.
These types of ‘pies’ just make me think they should be called apple raviolis
My only criticism-- Fuji apples are some of the sweetest that you can find. I would use Cortland, Envy, Pink Lady or Braeburn in no particular order. When adding cups of sugar, these usually end up with a better balanced flavor IMO. Just my 2c! With that being said, of course JW's would be fantastic!
How many grams of apples do you think he used
All mine are small
They still fry them in Japan! I love the taste. They are super crispy on the outside, not soggy like in the US.
