    That is too clean, I’m jealous. Also adorable kid checking out dads project, always heartwarming to see a family doing stuff together, much like the days when these trucks were new.
    Also I’m so busy but dang it, I need a barn-find this summer.

    I owned a 1990 F350 diesel in 2010. I didn’t mind replacing parts, fuel pump, water pump, alternator, heater coil, starter, radiator, transmission… what I did mind was changing the same parts multiple times. After a year and thousands of dollars in monthly repairs I had my fill.

    I have a 1986 f250 4x4 diesel super cab 6.9 idi sat since 1994 under a pole barn. I put a new injection pump,injectors,return line kit and high pressure injector lines. Starter was froze so I rebuilt the starter and alternator while I was at it. The lift pump was bad so I tlreplaced it. Put in two heavy truck batteries. Changed all oil and filters bleed the injection system and she fired right up! So the rear main seal leaking I noticed so I am pulling the motor. Got a complete rebuild kit cam upgrade turbo upgrade with intercooler. Rebuilding due to blow by think a ring is stuck from siting so long. New pistons everything. Other than consuming oil and smoking real bad black with blue tint it runs really good.

    I know your pain with the battery. That 7.3 engine drains the hell out of batteries. If you don't get it started by the third cranking batteries dead and you need a jump. Good luck with with jump boxes even if they are full battery. You'll need that and a big truck with jumper cables to get it going on dead battery

    Glad to see you used the motorcraft ZD-9 glow plugs. Word to the wise, don't use any other brand or you'll likely be pulling the heads off to get them out when you have to replace one or more. The others, especially the "made in China" crap will often break into pieces and fall into the combustion chamber or the head of the plug will swell up and you cannot back it out of the head making it necessary to remove the head to get it out.

      wouldn't hurt to use one. It had been cranking on one battery the whole time and a tired starter. The New Starter and 2 GOOD batteries she cranked fast and pulled great , fired right up as it should.

      you need to change o ring on very top of fuel filter housing , I believe the wire in top gose to a feul heater, it hardens and let's air in system and fuel drains slowly back to tank making for a hard start. most people think it's bad glow plugs. also put a gear reduction starter in best thing you can do.

    Do you put them copper rings on bottom or on top of the injector as well or just on top of that sleeve?

    • @southernrevivalautomotive

      I put them on top of the plastic caps. To take up some room where the rail would seat on the injector.

    I got a '87 F-350 i have 2 semi truck batteries in it because if i put the regular ones from factory fit it'll just drain the hell out of them, those engines r hard to turn.. use semi truck batteries not the normal ones because ford didn't know what they wr doing when they partnered up with international them international sended them a industrial heavy duty hard to turn tractor engine for their diesel pick ups i guess since those wr ford's first diesel pick-ups Ford thought 2 car batteries out of the F-150s would do the job jajajaja...

      I have a '90 idi that is in pretty good shape. It was an old farm truck that i've gotten in much better shape. I have to have the injector pump remaned, new glow plugs, 8 remanned inejectors, new starter, new glow plug relay and new starter. 4wd works and everything is functional except the air conditioner and the speakers short out and go in and out. It's got some rust on the body but underneath its not bad at all. You interested?

    • @southernrevivalautomotive
      @southernrevivalautomotive  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Best bet finding one non running that’s not rotted out. Usually it’s the fuel system or the injection pump that was the reason they got parked up.

      @@southernrevivalautomotive Yep. I had the injection pump worked on and replaced all glow plugs and got 8 remaned injectors and a new starter and fuel pump. Got this dinosaur working well again. It's a great truck.
