I simply cannot imagine you doing this kind of project with any kind of frequency and not having your own pressure washer at home, that will work so much better than whatever is at the commercial car wash.
Had a 1997 F250 Powerstroke 4x4 from 1999 until 2010. I loved it. I bought it to haul our cj5 around 4wheeling, but it never got driven much. I drove it every day but only 14 miles a day. That was hard on it. Basicly, I had to keep a glove box full of ipr's and cps's in the glove box. I'd love to find another, but the dollar just doesn't have thw buying power anymore. Just finished the restoration on our jeep and have started looking at trucks again. Thanks for the video. Borught back a bunch of memories!
Oh wow, that was a long run to own one…I’ll bet you do miss it… Yeah, they are hard to find at a decent price anywhere…and inflation doesn’t help. Facebook marketplace is where I found this one. They get snapped up so fast though!
My Dad had an 83 F250 with the 7.3 in the early 90s. It was a great truck that heused to pull his 5th whell trailer. Loved the sound of that engine ! The one you got ther looks like a good buy.
Subscribed. I am a proud 3 month owner of a 1997 CCSB 4X4, in very similar condition to yours. Except mine was a seriously filthy farm truck. I had to change out the CPS and EGBP sensors and tube (rusted) due to codes and stalling out at the light. Changed the oil in HPOP, cleaned small screen in between fuel bowl and fuel pressure regulator. This made a huge difference in power and driveability. I also have a HD Chevy that I've parked because the 7.3 is so awesome to drive. Thanks for the video!
Wow!!! Thanks for the comment and it sounds like you have an awesome truck! Congratulations! Thanks for the tips on making the truck run better, who knows: I might need to do some of these things to mine.
100% as soon as I rig up my parking brake cable and get it registered im going to wash all the mid of the bottom😂 it was a work truck and it rains all the time down here in the houston area. Lots of mud in every nook and cranny there is underneath. When I was a tech I used to pressure wash whatever I was going to work on before I started. Especially brakes. 🍻
Don't ever use ether if you can help it. Use gasoline on a rag, but put it on the filter so it won't get pulled into the engine. Will start every single time. I've started diesels that have been sitting for 20 plus years like that with zero engine damage
Good for you brother. Crew cab short bed 4x4 and the 7.3. 🎉 major score. I just got a 97hd XLT crew cab short bed. I put diesel in both tanks and my fuel gauge reads waaaay past full. Is that normal? I don't know if my switch selector valve or tank sending units have an issue.
When I was looking for a truck to buy and what engine to get I heard Bill Hewitt say something like .....most likely you will have to change every part on the '73 before you touch the engine. I was sold.
That is a great survivor OBS Powerstroke, you must be in the South or West. Those trucks don't fare so well here in the Mid-Atlantic winters. Was the truck repainted at some point? I see green color on metal beneath the grill that appears to have been sprayed white?
It’s a good survivor, no doubt. Also, excellent guess on location: Arkansas! Good eye on the green parts. The previous owner used it as a work truck and I think got into some minor scrapes and bumps…the tailgate is replaced and so is the trim beneath the grill. Both pieces appear to have been harvested from a two-tone green and white truck. I’m going to have to have the whole truck painted at some point. Thank you for the view and comments! You mentioned the winters, where are you from?
@@jeffreypinder9398 oh man, that hurts my heart a little bit…I heard that in some states they use something besides salt…wish they did in all the colder regions.
@@GrubNGas Yes, correct. Now it's some liquid spray that clings to the asphalt. There are still certain times they use salt like when the weather people are wrong, and we get a surprise storm. @@jeffreypinder9398 ah ok, I wasn’t sure how that worked. Too cool! Little Rock isn’t so bad right now, but the heat is returning with a vengeance in a couple of days. @GrubNGas yeah lol, I'm a Ford collector. I have several OBS models/ Aeronose 1992-1997 like the one in your video, and several of the Super Duty models 1999-2003, all with 7.3s and a few more with gas engines. I have a video on my channel of most of my vehicles i currently own.
Those power steering pumps take ATF not power steering fluid. You will probably have to change that pump out now. Also never use ether on these trucks you will destroy the engine

I'm betting the glow plugs are getting weak, if they're even working at all.
