Possibly easiest and best way to strip wheels would be wet or bead blasting the rims, easier on the hands, I'm 72 and restoring 2 Australian right hand drive high boys, also have original 16.5 " rims with BF Goodrich All terrains 33 x 12.50 R 16.5 but will be using a set of original 16 inch rims off a 2WD dentside F 250. The wheels do look great, congratulations!

You just bought my dream truck !!! Don't even bother trying to get that old slug running... Go to the junkyard and buy a modern 6.5 Detroit and put that in. You can put the injection pump from the 6.2 right on it and run it with the existing wiring on the truck or you can swap out the electrical from the modern 6.5. The heads crack and the blocks crack and the starter bolts mostly break off on the 6.2s. The 6.5 has a newer gear drive starter, all of the bugs have been worked out of them ,and as long as you change everything, you can use the serpentine belt system from the 6.5. I'm running a 1981 Chevy. It had a 305 in it. Now it has a 6.5 turbo from a 98 Sierra. Electric throttle and all !!! The hardest part of the swap was putting the hydro boost for the brakes. You already have it on yours !!!

I have a white 96 LT1 Formula that looks like yours with a 6 speed. I bought it in 1999 with 54k miles from original owner. Speedometer shows 237k now and still going strong!

I had a 96 Formula, red with black interior. Also had a 91 Formula 350 way back when, also red/black.

I would sand blast the stock rims paint them white and put the biggest tires that fit on them then use the factory hub caps

WOWZA, was that engine rusty! and is all that stuff in pass side engine bay firewall area just ac? MY 76 F150 ranger xlt w/o A/C is completely empty in that corner. if it was safe i coiuld literally store a 5 gallon jug of gas its so empty, well 3 for sure. thats making me think, what could i put there? a large sq toolbox might be handy instead of behind the seat where thieves look first.

Oh, and whatever work you're doin on this thing, or any other modern diesel, keep a battery maintainer on it, this thing will go *absolutely haywire* below like 10.5 ish volts, and any testing you do likely won't be accurate. Keep that voltage UP at all times

Those beeps are probably airbag faults, and the airbag warning light is burned out, so you're hearing the audible backup alarm instead. See if the airbag light works, and if not, replace it, i bet the beeps stop

I would've started by looking at ICP while cranking to see if it builds the 500psi it needs to fire the injectors. If oil side checks out and still no start, throw a fuel pressure gauge on it.

Beautiful old dentside! The steel rims do set the looks off- another option would have been the classic white spoke "wagon wheels" that were popular in the Seventies. I'm actually considering a set of those on my Oxford white 2015 F-250, since I'm going for an old-school look to her.

Good chance its a late 99. Not that someone changed them out, but Powerstroke emblems on E99 were on the fender, not the door like L99-early 03.

1999 and early 2000 were the best run of 7.3. Beginning mid 2000, Ford switched from forged rods to cast rods and it made a huge awful difference.

FYI these engines are externally balanced and the balancers often fail due to the rubber dry rotting.

The 6.2 diesels are not quick, and not the most powerful diesel. But they are bone stock reliable. I have an 88 with a 6.2 as well as a four-speed in it. Being 2 Wheel Dr. it did a pretty decent job pulling livestock trailer. The truck that you have would definitely be a neat set up, and definitely worthwhile spending the time to get it running again. Especially if it only has 90,000 miles on it. Mine has over 300,000 miles on it and has never been opened up. The only things that have been replaced has been a new clutch. The injection pump was replaced with one from a Humvee. the alternator was also replaced.
