Nope, Pennzoil Ultra Platinum is made from Natural Gas and is tops. Pennzoil Ultra Platinum is a bit better than the top Valvoline. I've been purchasing it for less than $24.00 5 quart jug at Walmart, so you're not being honest. I think this video is easily spotted as a Valvoline commercial. You said you aren't being paid but are you getting compensated with free products? How much in products have you gotten for free? You hardly stated anything about Pennzoil and I think that's because you know the top Pennzoil is better than the top Valvoline. You didn't bother to price out the Pennzoil so, that's your tell on what you said. You weren't being truthful. I won't be a subscriber.

Thier are very few vids were he doesnt blather on about how good penns oil is. Try watching his channel before you write your ignorant comments. And the products sent to him are with out advertising pay. Because he wants be honest about those products, but not beating up on them. And he ain't sponsored by valvoline. Rich is an honest man.

Supertec is actually a great oil. Warren company have been making oil since the 1930’s if I am not mistaken. Regardless of what synthetic oil you use, as long as it says API certified on it, you’re okay. Change your oil at regular intervals or more frequently based on driving conditions👍🏽

All the oils are good oils. API approval your good to go. The government is up the ass of these oil companies. The guys at Blackstone labs use what’s on sale. Just use the correct weight oil. It says on your oil cap. I use a 5/30 instead of 5/20 because I have high mileage on my vehicle 144,000 Honda Ridgeline a bit thicker is good for compression. If you buy Napa oil your getting Valvoline. Walmart super tech is blended by Warren oil company. Great oil. API approved. Don’t be fooled by pretty jugs and logos.

My brother-in-law worked for United Refinery in Pennsylvania for 30+ years, where they refine oil and blend to make gasoline, laquear thinner, paint thinner, kerosene, diesel fuels, and motor oils. I asked him about the low-down on motor oils and what brand they sell. They market their own brand under Brad-Penn oil. However, he said that they blend for Kendall, Quaker State, and some of the store brands. They used to do Pennzoil and other name brands. One thing he said about the Pennzoil was that the natural gas derived base stock was as clear as water because it was so pure versus what was pulled as a liquid from the ground and refined. In talking oils, he said all the base stocks are the same for all brands. The only difference is the additive package that a particular brand wants blended into the stock oil; they did not make additive packages. He said the packages they received were proprietary mixes hauled in on rail and truck from Lubrizol. He said that Lubrizol makes virtually all the additive packages for just about all refiners. The distinction is that each brand has chemists that R&D on what they have found is the right chemical formulations for auto engines. He said that the higher priced oils that the typical user buys have a more expensive and usually a more effective wear package for auto engines. BTW, he said they refine and blend oil for railroad diesel locomotives from Pennsylvania crude because the diesel engineers have found that PA crude is the best oil for preventing excessive wear on the rod and crank bearings in those engines since those parts are made with high concentrations of silver.

Motor oils all have different additives and if you mix different oils they may work against each other.
All motor oils are required to be miscible so you won't have catastrophic failure from mixing oils, but over a long period of time it's unhealthy for the engine.

    • @mostlymoparih5682
      @mostlymoparih5682 ปีที่แล้ว

When you drain your oil there's always a little bit left in the engine. I agree that changing from one brand to another is not going to hurt your engine if do it once but if you are always changing from one brand to another brand the different additive packages can cause sludge to build up in your engine. Sticking with one brand is better for your engine in the long run. I run 10w-30 in the summer and 5w-30 in the colder weather and some times blend the two. I have been doing that for years, in the past I ran straight 30w in the summer and 10w-30 in the colder weather.

It’s strange but back in the day if a car was use to having Penzoil and then another brand was used, the engine would start burning oil. My dad always told me that if I bought a used vehicle and I didn’t know what brand of oil it was use to, then always use Penzoil, but if I bought a new vehicle, Always use Valvoline. My mechanic also recommends Valvoline. I’ve been using Valvoline for 30+ years now (on new vehicles).
In 83 I bought myself an 82 (used) F150 for myself as a high school graduation gift… well I paid for 1/2 of it and my dad paid the rest. At around 150K miles I needed to replace the valve cover gasket and the rear main seal. I asked my mechanic how much he would charge me and back then he quoted me $700. I then asked him how much to rebuild the 300 (4.9L) in line 6cyl. He told me $1500. At that time he was head mechanic for the Post Office and did other mechanical repairs on the side. I was getting about $2K back on my taxes that year so I told him to rebuild the engine.
After he had completed the rebuild I asked him what oil should I use. He told me to use Valvoline. I put another 200K miles on that pickup.
In 97 Ford changed the body style on the F150. The dealership had a left over 96 XLT super cab long bed with the 300 in line 6cyl, so I got a killer deal on it.
That old 300 in line was an AWESOME bulletproof engine. After buying the 96, I kinda retired my 82 to our farm. Years prior I had put 3/4 ton leaf springs in the rear of the 82 as I hauled a lot in the bed.
I put just shy of 400K on my 96, of course using Valvoline (conventional oil back then) and changed the oil and filter every 3K miles.

Bottom line is that if you change oil regularly, (i.e. every 5k because it's easy to remember, 5, 10, 15, 20, etc), so long as you're not abusive in your usage of the motor, any named oil is going to be just fine. If you're buying oil yourself, you're probably changing it yourself, so mechanic charge isn't a factor... Change regularly and all will be well!

Rich, really appreciate all the good info on oils and the technology that goes into them. Ive been a subscriber for several years now and still watch the channel regularly. I refer people to your channel whenever they have questions about oil or ford vehicles. Ive tested just about every brand of oil in my 03 Mercury mountaineer 4.6 awd with 144k on the clock and counting. It doesnt seem to care whats in it but I always run fs or fs hm purchased at Walmart most often. I mostly run quaker state hm fs but I will be trying out valvoline hm fs soon. My engine runs smooth with no leaks, I change oil from 3-5k. I can honestly say that this vehicle runs better with every oil change and still feels brand new in terms of performance, mpg and smoothness. My lady has run royal purple most of the time in her 2013 mks 3.5 eb. Now that her car is over 10 yrs old, over 140k and has a very slight oil pan weep we will be switching out to a high mileage. Because of this video, I will be running a valvoline hm fs 5w30 product with confidence for both vehicles. Thank you for helping us save money and keep our engines running for the long haul. I love both of our vehicles and want them to last as long as possible.

If my 2021Subaru only has 22K miles in 3 years would I be better off with the Valvoline Advanced or the High Mileage version? Cost not being the factor...

I use the full synthetic supertech 20K miles, but change it at around 3K and it works great in my 2003 Dakota rt.

Do you have any information on the best oils for small engine use? My engine is a 23 hp Briggs & Stratton OHV. It is operated inside a van of necessity for quite a few hours nonstop in the heat of summer and cold of winter. It can get quite hot ambient temperature even with doors open and windows open in the summer. I'm open to suggestions. I do use Mobil synthetic 5w30, but not necessarily because I think it's the best. I simply do not know what is best for my application so I just go with the brand. I have to change oil & filter several times a year and use the machine year-round.

If you had to use one would you rather use Mobil 1 or Quaker State given both high mileage full synthetic?

What is your opinion of each - the Mobil Euro 0W-40 and the ESP Euro Mobil oils?

You have high praise for Valvoline, and rightfully so. Do you have the same praise for NAPA brand oil (made by Valvoline).

I bought my 2016 Mazda 6 new 8 years ago, took it straight to Valvoline service station to take out that Castrol they recommend. Change every 4k to 5k miles. never a slip or check engine light. 85k miles and running new.

Walmart stopped selling the Pennzoil Ultra in stores in my area. ☹
