you are the only eviwer that has liked it... my concern is that Kaolin is a clay powder that dries skin out... great for oily skin and acne but not for dehydrated skin... it sucks oils and water out, and is used in facials and acne bc it purges out the impurities... great if you need that but not great if you are dry... I hate to say this bu i am just being objective: the side with the new version was less shiney, but i could see more of the fine lines directly under your eyes...and that is what i am looking for: a good undereye setting powder...
You did an excellent job on this product comparison! Thank you for sharing such an in-depth comparison between the original and reformulated versions of the Givenchy powders. You taught me things that I didn't know about face powders in general. ❤️
The pressed powder still has talc in it. Another youtuber said that the Divin blanc givenchy powder still has talc in it and is a suitable replacement if you prefer the original
Thank you - I am afraid its being reformulated too, as I cant see the pressed version on Givenchys pages anymore - I hurried to purchase one in my local store to have as back up for my loose powder when I run out.
@@twoleftfeet9626 Yes, as I said "I hurried to purchase one in my local store to have as back up for my loose powder when I run out." :-D I am just assuming that this too is being reformulated, as its not available at Givenchy Beauty page anymore.
Thanks Gemma! The original is the only finishing powder I would use on my dry, mature skin. A truly phenomenal product. When I recently heard that Givenchy was reformulating this product, I went into a panic. I bought an extra box of #3 so that I would be well stocked if the new one missed the mark. I am so glad to hear your favorable review. Life is good again! 😁😉❤
Thank you for your honest review! You’re the only person who gave the new version a chance. A lot of these other blah-blah naysayers pack it on like a baking powder which is not its intended use, then write it off and say it belongs in the trash 😂. Also you’re the only one who explain the price hike and the fact that the powder of the new one is more finely milled and so it’s unfair to bash it based on just that, because it’s just not the same powder. Annnnnd all the comments around the internet are from people who haven’t even tried the original one and they’re sad or hating WHUT 😂😂😂😂😂. I’m excited to try the new one, having been a long-time user of the original one!
While the Givenchy Prisme Libre Powder has now become rather iconic in its loose format, I don't see much attention given to its compact format. I have both and while I enjoy the loose powder, I did not like travelling with it, so the compact came in handy for that and for my handbag if I wanted to touch-up. The mini version now available is what I travel with, the compact is still something I carry in my bag. I was wondering if you have any thoughts or experience with the compact version of Givenchy's Prisme Libre Powder?
Great video. I'm also commenting to let you know that your "original" version was already reformulated some years ago. Yes I'm old lol. So, Voile Rose used to be a sparkly powder and that's the one that I fell in love with. It was reformulated to a matte powder around I'm guessing 2019-2021, it's hard to remember now. They took the sparkles out which made me so sad. Luckily I found some unopened older stock and was able to back up. So I highly suggest to anyone married to your version to stock up now before they disappear. Powder can last a very long time fortunately :)
Thank you for the in depth review! Breaking it down as you did was really helpful. I haven't been able to find it available yet so still waiting to try the new formula.
SAME! So sick of these reformulations. I am so glad Givenchy did a great job on this one! One note, the lids are not a good judge on this one. Givenchy does many seasonal packages.

Hey Gemma! Did you notice that this exact powder is now being offered in a pressed compact?? Exactly the same color combinations, but in a pressed form. I bought two of them in my usual shades that I get in the loose powder numbers two and three and they’re great to take on the go and I feel are just as good. Take a look and maybe compare the pressed to the loose powder
I've noticed too when a product is being reformulated - the list of ingredients always change 😏 I was using a couple of skin care products for years until... the packaging and products changed also. My skin is very sensitive and when I finally find something that makes my skin happy... I'm pleased ☺ Take care everyone 🌹
Thank you Gemma for such a great review of the New Reformulated Givenchy Prism Powder. I purchased the Mini in 3 off of their website about one month ago. Iam loving it, but now, I for sure will order the full size and make sure it’s the newest one. You always give us such great in depth reviews, thank you!
Thank you! i just saw a review on instagram and the new one looked like a highlighter. Thank god thats not the case and its even a better formulation now!!!
@@misspeachbeach7687 I do think that’s the case if you pack tons of the product on, but realistically, with the amount I apply, you can’t tell much of a difference. X
Hi Gemma having a paler shade is really good news as it was too dark for my ultra pale skin before (for reference 00 in Dior forever foundation is my perfect shade match). Instead of the Givenchy powder I bought the Dior lavender powder and I really like it. It too has a slight luminosity that works for my dry skin. I previously used the hourglass ambient baked powder but they discontinued my shade ethereal light (I did buy a back up before it disappeared completely thankfully). A lavender powder is fabulous on pale cool toned skin and the new shade looks promising. I will investigate next time I’m in Edinburgh at the Givenchy counter and perhaps pick up the mini. Best wishes x
Estee Lauder LOVE LOVE LOVE reformulating and discontinuing products, I believe they do it on purpose but can't understand why. Great products have been removed and replaced with inferior products.
I've only tried shade 2 (satin blanc is the name, I think). I could see visible sparkles under my eyes. They were tiny, but they were there. :( I'm not sure if all shades are like that, though. This refers to the previous formula. I don't even think we have the new here in the US yet. So if the new one is worse in that respect, it's not for me. Which is too bad because it was gorgeous aside from the teeny sparkles.
The old formula not all of the shades had sparkles! In the old one the pastel and one of the darker skin shades don’t have sparkles. So I think 1 and 3. Sadly here in Europe they alrdy removed the old one. 😢
Thank you for the video! You gave me hope!! My heart was broken because another video was being shared all over showing the new formula to be a “highlighter”. Now I suspect it was a little exaggerated by over applying the new formula. 💖
I was getting ready to rush out and stock up on a backup of the original... was so worried about what the changes might be... but after your thorough review... I am not sure anymore... maybe the new one will be a welcome change! Thank you for doing such a thorough comparison... greatly appreciated!!!!
I remember when Lancome reformulated their teint idole ultra wear foundation. It was my ride or die and its never been the same since 😢 why do they do it?!
If the new formula has kaolin ( a type of clay mineral) instead of talc it will be more mattifying and oil absorbing than the original. I have very dry skin and don’t want anything removing any moisture. I don’t think it’s for me.
They removed it because that misinformation has taken hold. They give people what they want whether it's necessary or not. It's the same for parabens. The link between parabens and cancer has been repeatedly debunked, but people believe it anyway, so companies took it out.
Thank you for your insight! Haven’t tried this powder yet although it been on my wishlist for months! Really helped me to decide if I should buy the old vs new.
I think the re-formulation possibly has not reached the US yet? On Givenchy’s website it’s still the old version when the US site is selected. But if I select the UK site, the new formulation comes up.
Prism Libre powder is an absolute ride or die for me, so very happy your review confirms all is well and the new one is even better, yay!! Thank you so much 🙏💪👏🙌👌😘🌹 xx
I am in the minority: the original Prisme Libre powder was AWFUL on me. No matter how little I applied, my undereyes looked dry, wrinkled and terrible, so I gave it to a young family member. With mica as the main ingredient, the new formula may be worth a try.
I never used it under my eyes as from what I understand it's a finishing powder as Gemma I see calls it as well. If you still have it maybe try it that way?
OMGOSH, I'm shocked!!!!! Thanks for the detailed information. I ordered a new one a couple weeks ago during the Givency Beauty Sale...now I need to go open it and see if it is the new one!!! I bought a blush as well :).
I feel people are going to be very upset when they go buy it during the Sephora sale and see it on there face in the light that it looks like a highlighter on their face and under their eyes. I never was impressed with the original one, but I know it’s a OG for so many.
I worked in the fragrance industry. Our customers; Unilever, P&G, etc, constantly wanted their fragrances reformulated, demanding the same fragrance but cheaper. Common practice.
I honestly did not need another powder to do a similar effect on my skin as my hourglass powders. I was happy with the powder like it was. The package seems also cheaper to me without the embossing.
Thank you for this! I had no idea they were reformulating it. I’m definitely going to try the new formula… curiousity is getting the best of me 😂 I’m so glad they’re adding more shades in the minis! Hopefully I’ll love the new formula 😬🤞
Is the same thing happening to laura mercier powder?? The LM powder is on sale here in the states and i am contemplating picking a back up incase they reformulate it.
I never got the original because in the first advert splashed powder iver the models... Imagine her breathing that into her lung! And it contains tarc, no matter how everyone says it is the best. I got this new one in smaller size a month ago. One only needs a small pot for under eyes. It really is a game changer for powdering under eyes, brightening but not glittery, smooth and light.
I’m confused by this review. Mine is a straight highlighter. I may have been using the original incorrectly by using it as a setting powder rather than a finishing powder so I will definitely switch my application and hopefully get better results, but the new one is just straight shimmery highlighter. Definitely returning.
I never tried the old formula, I just bought the new version, it is the worst powder that I tried, it is like eyeshadow, all shinny 😢 and it enhances the pores!!!
I stocked up on another powder AND will now only be using it on my under eyes. It's the only thing that keeps that area matte and not crease HUHUHUHU. The new one will be crap in photos especially to us 40somethings!!
Funny how other reviews state the opposite, now I don't know which side I am at 😅...i found an offer at the department store at 50% discount and bought It, we'll see.....
Well we in the Europe (I mean EU and within the EU market) knew this for months now. I think since January they literally pulled this from the shelves and was available only online until the stocks lasted. Now it is a talc fee bcs talc is on the WHO cancerogenous substances (in the labs on cells and animals, also in humans ovarian and endometrium cancer and might be lung as well, bcs it is a mineral that is find in the mines and while usually asbestos is there as well and could be additional factor, the analytic data from cohortes and case control studies and combined metaanalisis - so this is way more then obsvervational transversal study and biological plausibility, time sequence and some other Bradford Hill criteria is there - clinical trial will never ever happen bcs there is also 0 clinical trial that proves smoking causes cancer or that parachute saves lives - you can’t have a control group that you give cigarettes for many years or other where you throw ppl of the planes without any parachute - it is not ethical). So far data shows this is not recommended substance to use (and there is a reason why sometimes we actually need animals and cosmetics and the additives should be taken seriously as meds - and not be this grey area) due to existing data so far. You have also Blanc Divin shade still has talc it is the same old formula that matches previous shade 02 - Satin Blanc.
Oh no!. Well, I have 2 old loose ones and 2 old pressed ones. All in different colors. I have #4 and I have a really old one they don't make anymore #2 Beige Taffetta. I also have #2 and #4 in pressed. I am so light handed with my powder so I figure these 4 will last me for at least 2 yrs or longer. Hopefully someone will come out with a better formula.
Interesting. I just watched another reviewer come to exactly the opposite conclusion. I wonder if it is in part a difference in application? She applied both the old and new very liberally, but also with a poof (smaller than the one you used). You could see how much she was pressing in on each side whereas you seem to use a light amount. Might that be why her “new” side was very highlighter?
This is truly so sad! Do you know if the pressed Prisme Libre Powder is still matte? I can see it still contains talc. Will that be good for setting under eyes?
I watched a video saying it’s a highlighter.. but honestly I don’t believe that creator anymore.. i saw she took your exact thumbnail!! W honestly I believe your video more since it’s a live application.
I’d written talc scare before watching video. I think this may be the case. I have to use baby powder to help me transfer from wheelchair and they’ve changed it to cornstarch not nice but hopefully safer.
I'm fed up with the manufacturers Changing the formula of different products. As if that wasn't annoying enough What makes me really mad is discontinuing products and even brands I used to love smashbox make up but no longer available in the UK .😢😢
So, with that increase of the price per gram, the price for 12 g has actually increased from £48.5 to £62.4. That is a significant raise. And fine, if the new formula is much better, but more costly to produce, it may be worth it, but I do really dislike how they try to hide the increase of the price by making a larger container. That is deceitful, and makes me dislike the company.
I did not find the new version to be as shiny as the influencers were saying. As a matter of fact I like the new version better. It’s not shiny on me at all.
I was going to repurchase the FS on the next sephora sale but when i saw it was being reformulated i said il just get the mini again to compare once it hits the US site. I find this to be comparable to the HG veil but do not like that one under the eye since the Givenchy one is more matte. This one works better for lighter makeup days as well, so I’m just hoping to find the new one not to be too radiant to use under the eyes Sad to hear about the size reduction/price increase but interesting i just looked at my HG and it’s $50 10.5g, vs current Givenchy $60 for 12g so i guess now il definitely be paying more. I don’t think i even realized because I’ve had the mini for over a year at this pt, so even with a less value its not horrible but i wonder price on that and if it will be reduced from say 4 to 3g. I’m otherwise happy to see the larger logo with the shiny top matching the mini i wasn’t a fan of the matte cap but i don’t think we needed the component any larger lol
The packaging being slightly larger on the reformulation is a marketing tool so people will "think/perceive" they're getting more for the new price increase (despite that they're actually getting LESS!)😢
Do you think buying backups of the old formula from stylevana would be a bad idea? I can't find the old version online anywhere and I see they still have some, but am concerned about the authenticity. I have bought korean skincare off stylevana before, but never luxury makeup.
I just bought three from them like two days ago lol 😂 it hasn’t shipped yet though! I’ve never even tried the givenchy powder yet but I saw so many bad reviews on the new one so I wanted to grab it before it’s completely gone.. and like you said, the old formula was only available there.
@@pinkabuki i saw something like “will be shipped in 30 days” so I’m pretty sure it’ll be pretty long 😬 I know they they’re known sometimes take really long to ship, but I’ll let you know once I get the email!
@@ayana7502 ive ordered from stylevana before and it took a month, no exaggeration. But it was korean skincare that I couldnt really get anywhere else so I didn't mind.
My powder arrived and it’s the old formula cause it has talc for the first ingredient. I’m not too sure how I can check if this is an authentic product though. Have yours arrived ?
I was reading the ingredients on mine, it says synthetic fluoriphilogpite I got the new version I’m so mad, I don’t wear make up, and this was perfect for me, my go to product. I do notice the difference but I thought it was just my imagination or a bad batch. So I started looking for the old version, all the reatailers in my country removed it and they’re are promoting the new version, may be it’s the givenchy policy.
I've seen so many reviews about this powder and mainly from USA based content creators and I wonder, if something is wrong with the us formula, maybe mixed incorrectly?
I don’t understand why they change something that is so good. Givenchy also remade my favorite cologne, Ysatis, that I have been wearing for years. The new version is not the same and I am so disappointed. I wish they would bring the old formula back!
Talc is a problematic product and is potential cancer causing due to possible asbestos contamination. I am replacing all my talc based powders to mica for this reason. So I am happy Givenchy is moving away from talc.
Ridiculous to reduce the amount and increase the price. They really think people are so stupid to buy after that. I will pass no matter if it turns my skin to 20 yr old version
I fell in love with this setting powder, so much so I bought like 3!!! I’ll never run out of it 🥹 Now there is a new version, looks to perform better, but is the difference enough to justify rushing out buying the new formula? I am not sure it is, annoying it’s really formulated when it’s good 😆 as much as when it’s bad!!
I’ve just watched this video & when applying each powder the new powder is applied to the right side of Gemma’s face (right side of screen) & the new one to the left (with her facing the screen), it’s written on the screen. However when she is outside & showing the wear test she says it’s the other way round… the new is on the left & the new on the right? Can someone explain it to me please as my mind is boggling trying to work it out lol.

Ive already stocked up on the old version.
Thank you for this. Good info. I already have a backup to the one I have open (both original version) and will use them but welcome the new one.
I don’t see this anywhere. Not in the attached link, or on the Givenchy website. Perhaps because I am in the US?
I’m confused by this review. Mine is a straight highlighter. I may have been using the original incorrectly by using it as a setting powder rather than a finishing powder so I will definitely switch my application and hopefully get better results, but the new one is just straight shimmery highlighter. Definitely returning.
I have seen other videos where they applied it and it looks like a higher
@@emmafagan me too! And mine looks the same. I’m surprised about this review!
Thank you so much for your review! Does the new powder’s fragrance dissipate after you apply it like the original please?
@@themellowmelodies. yes it definitely does x
WHY??!! do companies insist on adding fragrance to (especially) FACIAL skincare products???!!!😮
I never tried the old formula, I just bought the new version, it is the worst powder that I tried, it is like eyeshadow, all shinny 😢 and it enhances the pores!!!
Great review ❤
I might have bought 3 backups when I heard of them reformulating😂
Is mica lighter in weights?
I stocked up on another powder AND will now only be using it on my under eyes. It's the only thing that keeps that area matte and not crease HUHUHUHU. The new one will be crap in photos especially to us 40somethings!!
Thanks Gemma love your vids 🥰
The minute I found out, I bought back ups! Not gonna lose my powder!❤
Funny how other reviews state the opposite, now I don't know which side I am at 😅...i found an offer at the department store at 50% discount and bought It, we'll see.....
What department store?
@@nicolenolte4482 it's in Italy
Luv ur videos no matter what ur doing!! ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Is the mica version a lighter powder than talc. Its odd the larger pack size is less weight 🤔
Yes it is lighter x
I’d written talc scare before watching video. I think this may be the case. I have to use baby powder to help me transfer from wheelchair and they’ve changed it to cornstarch not nice but hopefully safer.
I'm fed up with the manufacturers
Changing the formula of different products.
As if that wasn't annoying enough
What makes me really mad is discontinuing products and even brands
I used to love smashbox make up but no longer available in the UK .😢😢
I had no idea!!! Nooooo....Anyone know where I can still get the old formulation?
So, with that increase of the price per gram, the price for 12 g has actually increased from £48.5 to £62.4. That is a significant raise. And fine, if the new formula is much better, but more costly to produce, it may be worth it, but I do really dislike how they try to hide the increase of the price by making a larger container. That is deceitful, and makes me dislike the company.
@@Chihiro33333 it’s still £52 for the 10g. The price of the product doesn’t change just because it’s more money per gram. X
I did not find the new version to be as shiny as the influencers were saying. As a matter of fact I like the new version better. It’s not shiny on me at all.
Oh what a great video.
Shrinkflation is really starting to tick me off.
Me too! It's pure BS!, and just about EVERY company is doing "SHRINKFLATION" to their products while they rake in literally billions more in profits!!
I was going to repurchase the FS on the next sephora sale but when i saw it was being reformulated i said il just get the mini again to compare once it hits the US site. I find this to be comparable to the HG veil but do not like that one under the eye since the Givenchy one is more matte. This one works better for lighter makeup days as well, so I’m just hoping to find the new one not to be too radiant to use under the eyes
Sad to hear about the size reduction/price increase but interesting i just looked at my HG and it’s $50 10.5g, vs current Givenchy $60 for 12g so i guess now il definitely be paying more.
@@lindabenson1764 yea i understand that, i work in pkg but it still cost them more to change the component
@@ayana7502 Please let me know when yours shipped. Mine hasn't yet and I am nervous.
The fragrance is a no go for me, I was hoping the reformulation would have removed it. Oh well, back to my Laura Mercier.
Is it the talc scare?
Ridiculous to reduce the amount and increase the price. They really think people are so stupid to buy after that.
I will pass no matter if it turns my skin to 20 yr old version
I will worry the too fine powder absorb inside the skin layer which may not be good!
Thanks for sharing that Gemma ❤
It always happens just after I buy a product lol
You read my mind…how can you tell the new from the old?
Mentioning light reflecting pearls really concerns me. I love a matte look hate any 12:56 hint of shimmer
@@Kaz-xu5ot I didn’t notice the shimmer once the powder was on my skin. Hope that helps x
I was scared delighted it is ok.😂
I’ve just watched this video & when applying each powder the new powder is applied to the right side of Gemma’s face (right side of screen) & the new one to the left (with her facing the screen), it’s written on the screen. However when she is outside & showing the wear test she says it’s the other way round… the new is on the left & the new on the right? Can someone explain it to me please as my mind is boggling trying to work it out lol.
She's probably using the front facing camera on her phone when she is outside (:
