- Hi friends,
Today I will be reviewing the new reformulated Givenchy Prisme Libre Loose powder. Givenchy’s Prisme Libre powder became viral over the past year. The powder quickly gained popularity among the beauty community and was named the best loose powder of all times. The Givenchy Prisme libre powder is one of my all-time favorites and my most repurchased powder over the 10 past years and I was very happy to see it getting the recognition that it deserves. And now Givenchy reformulated their Prisme libre powder and removed the talc. It was replaced by Kaolin and in this video I am sharing with you my honest review of the new reformulated Prisme Libre powder.
Givenchy also released a new loose powder called Blanc Divin which is advertised as brightening mattifying powder. The new Givenchy Blanc Divin powder has a subtle satin finish and it contains talc. I will show demo and I will share with you my review in the video.

Hi friends, Please make sure to watch in HD to get the best experience. When purchasing the Givenchy powders, please check the ingredient list to make sure which version of the powder you are buying.
OMG what is wrong with companies. First Guerlain change the Meteorites scent, then they make new Rouge G lipsticks that don't fit the old cases, now Givenchy do this. That's 3 of my holy grail products ruined.😢
They seem to follow each other don't they? I'm curious to no if sales have dropped in these luxury brands
Thet try to take off the talc
@@Alx-Bass
Yes, on the 9th of July WHO classify talc as cancerogenous.
Thanks for this sad news. I will stock up while it’s still available here in the US. I wish they would let the consumers choose.
I did a half and half on my face with both the new powder and also the old. On initial application, the old one appeared to do a better job at hiding my large pores around my nose; however, about 3 hours later, rhe new one looked so much better on my skin and the old one had settled into my pores and didnt look good. I would say this is the tal sitting in my pores. I dont have very oily skin. in fact, im going through the menopause so my skin is dry. The kaolin is higher up the ingredients list compared with the one but the old one also does contain Kaolin.
So overall, i much prefer the overall finish of the newer one and would say it has been improved.
Hi lovely, Thanks for sharing. We are all different. I have exactly the opposite experience. With the new one my pores become visible in a few hours. It's visible in the video on the side where I applied the new powder if you watch in HD. And in the video I am with freshly applied makeup. I am happy I was able to get two backups of the old one. The new feels super tight on my skin and makes me look older. I don't like that. I wish I could return mine.
@Frenchforaday That's such a shame. I still have a full size and two minis in the old formula, and my new one is also a mini.
I don't know if you could maybe try applying it in a different way. I must admit, I use the tiniest amount possible as I have many fine lines and nothing worse than seeing them highlighted by powders.
Hello Angela. I prefer the products with talc. The new eye shadows that do not contain talc
don’t perform the same in my opinion. I am not a powder person. If I feel that I need it I go for the Guerlaine meteorites. They just give a beautiful finish without the powder look. Hope your weekend is a great one. It has been raining in Miami for a week streets are flooded and is just a nasty weather. But We are alive and healthy and life is beautiful with rain and all😊😊❤️❤️
I agree
WHO just put talc on the list of the cancerogenic supstances in humans (on 9th this month so 10 days ago)
All these reformulations are ridiculous they need to sell what have been working for years clean does not mean safe thank you for the update
I am so surprised! I recently gave in to the hype of the powder and it seems I bought the reformulated one. I use it lightly with a brush and still is the best powder yet for my dry sensitive skin. I will keep an eye for the talk version.
I agree, Angela. I trust the high end established French brands but not the newer brands. Thank you for the care and attention to detail in this video.
As someone into organic living in a big way, sadly green beauty products almost always irritate my skin. Sad to hear about the Givenchy reformulation 😌
Clean is currently not a legally regulated term so we don't know how "safe" are clean beauty products. At this time anyone can create a brand and put the label "Clean". I don't trust most clean beauty products because they go bad very quickly and also clean beauty can easily harbor bacteria. I've talked to a friend of mine - dermatologist and she sees a lot of skin irritations from patients who have used "clean" beauty. So we have to be careful when we assess makeup and skincare. Two clean beauty brands that I like and use are Westman Atelier and Kjaer Weis. I've never had issues with those.
I love Kjaer Weis 💖
@@FrenchforadaySo true when I bought chanel No1 foundation it did have a slight smell now it's Been 5 months the Snell is strong and unpleasant I ended up throwing it away and I've hardly used it disappointing
@@jacqui.amelieThat's shocking and they are expensive
Hello is organic skincare good like Kora? I'm a bit confused with organic and clean
Thankyou for the warning. Ive used this for a long time. Im 60 now so Im off to Sephora asap to buy a few spares.
Hi Kerry :) Yes, definitely do that :) It's a gorgeous powder. I also purchased two backups from my favorite shade. xoxo
I have heard lately that all these reformulations in Europe are mandatory from the EU. Not all the companies want to , but must . I prefer the old products and think the " clean " trend has ingredients that are not necessarily better and basicly untested . So many of these ingredients cause irritation , not to mention the under performance.
Apparently it is not only the trend. WHO not the EU put talc on the list of cancerogenics in humans (it was on 9th of this month)
I agree. So many powders are replacing talc with silica which is so fine it puffs into my eyes even if I keep them closed. The clean beauty trend is such a marketing gimmick. We have the ‘wellness’ influencers who make money off of creating hysteria around ingredients that aren’t ‘natural’ to thank for this. Talc in eyeshadow and face powder is safe if it’s free of asbestos. Just don’t use it on your girl parts. We use all kinds of products that are deemed cancerous, but only in large amounts.
Nice reviw Angela thank you have a Beautiful weekend 💖🌸💖🌸
I'm here I subscribed
On the whole, 'clean' beauty products tend to be terrible. I avoid them. Kaolin is very drying. I am gutted they have ruined the regular prisme libre. I have bought a replacement of the old version from Boots in the UK
OH NO! This powder is my Holly grail. I am using it very day to set my foundation. I need to stockpile on the old formula. Thank you for giving us a head up. Love watching yours videos as always💕💕
The emphasis on 'clean' beauty is getting out of hand 🙄Can't we just focus on what works? 🥴
I agree, and let the customer decide what is best for their skin
Thanks for the update on that. Not sure that I will stock up with the old formula.. I have one here in rose that I sometimes use for under the eyes but there are alternatives to that. My holy grail for the full face is chantecaille loose powder. But I’m always on the hunt for the perfect powder that isn’t drying or cling to patches while still holding my oils at bay. So looking forward to any more videos about good powders that you can recommend. Would love some comparisons
Reformulations are never an improvement. I have no idea why talc is being demonised. It is just ground marble.
Unfortunately, talk is related to risk cancer because of the possible contamination with Asbestos which is very cancerogenic 🙁
Only if u inhale it.
Hi Angela..thank you for the letting us know ! I took your advice and I ordered some of the old formulation. I think I now have enough to last several years 😂
It all started with the lawsuit against Johnson and Johnson talcum powder contained in their baby products. The trial had a huge publicity in the USA and since USA is the biggest market for beauty products all brands had to comply with the new demands from customers. Johnson and Johnson baby products containing talc were found to be contaminated with asbestos which is a known human carcinogen. If contaminated talc powder is applied in the pelvic area of humans, or inhaled it can be carcinogenic. Most brands started to replace talc with mica which makes people feel safe. However, at this point there is not enough scientific information as to how safe is mica. There has been concern among some scientists that mica might have presence of other minerals like lead, arsenic & mercury which are hard to detect. And do brands test about that? We don't know. But as long as people don't see talc they feel safe. That's why I think Kaolin as a main ingredient is a good choice for Givenchy. But it is drying so it's not the same quality as before.
@@lewistracy3061 Hi Tracy :) I did the same lol. This is my holy grail powder. I had to have restock . Thank you for watching and have a great day! xoxo
Thank you for the heads-up. This is my favorite powder and am sad to hear this news. I just placed an order for multiple back-ups of the old formulation.
Hi. I'm so glad I discovered your channel. Now that we can't find the original, would the compact powder be a great option to replace it? Greetings from Mexico
Thank you! Any chance you can do an updated powder showdown now - what’s your favorite what is not? Thank you 🙏
I’m after OG Givenchy formula, but a bit confused now what to pick and I love your recommendations - very relaxed and down to earth.
Thank you for this alert! I watched your video 2 hours ago and promptly went out to get backups 😂 I don't trust the online ordering in case they send out the new ones, but I am in Asia and it seems they still stock the old formula in Sephora.
It was also you who introduced this powder to me and I really like it for the same reasons that you do.
Now I am wondering how many boxes I can reasonably buy before they expire. Kaolin as a replacement for talc is definitely not for me, I do not need any drying ingredients on my lines and pores.
Would also greatly appreciate it if you find a really really good alternative to this one and share it with us. ❤
I live in Europe and the old powders were taken away weeks ago and this week I saw the new line appearing online....sigh. Wow, Blanc Divin is 70 euros? So much more than the prisme libre? No back ups for me...I'm glad I have my Suqqu powder and Koh Gen Do
Same. I’m from Europe too. They were replaced so quickly! My hg..
@Sophie-lo6qj Thanks for letting me know!
I don’t think there will be Blanc Divine much more as on 9th of this month WHO put talc on the list of the cancerogenic agents in humans. So 10 days ago basically.
the couleur caramel high definition silk powder and the Manasi7 are great alternatives to try too.
I might try it, not really sure. I'm really loving the Hourglass powders right now, both the loose and the pressed ones. I've just checked the ingredients, and neither contain talc. Talc has never been an issue for me and this sudden fear mongering about it really bothers me. I think companies are just jumping on the latest bandwagon.
Well it is a bit more then fearmongering since WHO have just put talc on the list of cancerogenous substances in humans (10 days ago on 9th this month)
I am saddened about the Givenchy Prism Libre reformulation! I have a full container that was a backup that I have just opened. However, I will definitely buy the Blanc version of the powder!! ❤❤❤
Gorgeous fresh looking face❤ I have the older version which I love. I understand the reformulation but I will be disappointed as well if it does not preform the same way so I appreciate you bringing up the subject and the other powder that still contains talc and I am a health freak!❤
I might try these I love getting tips from others on here to
This powder has been popular among MUAs in the US for years! Been using it for years… but I can’t believe I’m just now seeing this video. I didn’t even have a chance to restock 😭😭😭
Hi Angela thanks for your fantastic review! How is the fragrance between the new and old powder please?
Thank you for the review. So disappointing that they reformulated.
Oh no. I have been using the same Prisme Libre for over 5 yrs. I don't use a lot of powder, so I'm still using my original one. In fact I think my shade has been discontinued. TAFETTAS BEIGE. I am considering getting Satin Blanc, but now I'm going to have to scrutinize the ingredients list. Thank you for the heads-up!
Thank you! I will stick up on the old formula products here in US.
I have nothing with this powder, never had, maybe unpopular opinion, dear Angela, but i mostly prefer Japanese powders, and on better/less dry skin days, just a tiny little bit Danessa Myricks, the pink one, so good, or the Huda one. But mostly Suqqu and Cle de Peau. The new Sweed powder i also find, so, so with my sometimes normal, and quite some times dry skin, the Hourglass pressed powder, also very forgettable. The new Laura Mercier pressed powder is ok. I still love the PMG under eye powder now and than, depends how my skin is doing. On dry skin days, no powder, or a Japanese one. But great, this info, i think Givenchy can start all over again, when lots of people don't want this powder anymore, but maybe it's not that bad for them. Anyway, it's not my powder. Sending you lots of love!!! ❤❤❤❤❤❤
I bought it a couple of days ago at 50% and paid 28 euros!
Still cannot believe it, it,'s the old one with matte lid
Haven't tried it yet though...hope i'll be as enthusiastic!
Thank you so much for your review. I am going to try to stock up on some of the old version powders. Do you know if they think of reformulating the pressed version, too? (I saw that the pressed version also contains talc.) Have a great Monday. xoxo
Hello my friend it’s Jennie from the US. I’ve been watching you and your programs and I noticed that you said that your mother used Nivea cream on your wounds. I just bought it and I mix a little bit in with my moisturizer for my face at night because I’m so dry. Have a great day Jennie.
Thank you for the timely review. Must go and buy old formula while I can. Which shade would you recommend ? For my foundation I am B20.
I hadn’t tried this powder and not going to. My favourite one is Charlotte Tilburys flawless powder. Nothing is going to top it. 😊
Thank you for the heads up . My absolute favorite powder of all time. Voile rose is ✨magnifique✨ . Did my own makeup for my wedding and that’s what made my makeup flawless. Got 2 backups literally mid-video 😂. Merci 💖
My skin is dry and mature. Bye bye Givenchy. Thanks for the review, Angela. Going to try SWEED. 😊
Hi Yvonne, Thank you for watching. Let me know how sweed works for you. I would love to know. xoxo
@@Frenchforaday will do, Angela!💋💕
I have Sweed powder, it is lovely, but waaaay too shiny for all over face use. I use it on top of blushers to make them glow
@@twoleftfeet9626 thank u for info!☺️
Be careful! The Sweed powder is a hyper glowy finishing powder and very different from the Prisme Libre.
i didnt tried the old formula, i wasnt know about the formulation changing and really wanna try the powder. i bought the mini size and tried but didnt love it. its not a bad powder but i already have 5 drugstore powders which i love. it doesnt blur it doesnt made my makeup look amazing or etc and wont gonna buy again and glad i bought the mini size
Thank you for such a detailed and insightful video. I also cannot stand kaolin on my face for longer than I would have a face mask on. I spent a fortune looking for a perfect powder. Chanel ended up as a dry shampoo... I want to try Charlotte Tilbury, but the image of the brand disagrees with my personality 😂 I recently tried Bobbi Brown pressed powder and it was decent. For now, I have a backup of old Givenchy too 😊
I have the small container of #3 I bought about 6 months ago in Canada, it contains talc but has a shiny cover
Hi Nathalie, The small powders have shiny packaging. Both the old and the new. Only the regular size powders have matte (the old one) and shiny for the new powders. I failed to mention that.
NOOOOO I LOVE THIS POWDER. I’m 63 dry and its chefs kiss. I saw the new color. Im so curious about how it’s redone
As always your honesty is helpful and
Thank you so much for your review and thoughts on this! Clay will not be a good ingredient for dryer skin types or more mature skin. Such a shame :(
I bought these powders last year in both standard and mini sizes, and the mini size has a shiny cover. So, I think there has always been a packaging difference between the two sizes, unless a reformulation of this product took place some time ago. I don't know. I think Givenchy loose powder is the best I have ever used; however, if I feel like having a summer glow, the Sweed Miracle powder is my favorite.
Hi Kasia, I should have been more clear. The change in the packaging applies only to the regular size powders. The mini size powders all have shiny lids. So, if you are buying the mini size you should check the ingredient list. With that being said, a couple of people already mentioned that they purchased the new powders in the USA.
@@Frenchforaday Thank you Angela. I was a bit confused indeed as I did not feel the difference between the two I have ;)) I also never tried to apply them with a damp blender - will try ;) thank you for this tip!
Your comments are interesting considering that the other powder you like has silica in it. Talc had issues in the past because of inpurities not because it is a talk. Silica, is far more problematic in cosmetics and everyday use for women as it effects reproductive hormons, talc does not. This is why I use very little and not often primers with silica, blurring primers for large pores tend to have silica or derivatives.
Where can I purchase the blanc divin? I would like to try this one. Thank you!
O I am so lucky I snap up the old formula 1,2,3 I already owned the first version 08 viole rose I saw yesterday it was different from the previous 03 so I snap the 3 shades from 🇬🇧 uk I live in Europe you can not get your hands on them in the eu anymore I was so lucky 🍀 😅 I also ordered the new formula the lightest shade 00 I see no reviews on that one yet ❤
Hi Angela. Thank you for testing the two new powders. I remember seeing that the new powder was to be much thinner. Do you think that could be to indicate that less powder volume needs to be used?
Talc free isn’t a gimmick. The companies aren’t doing reformulations because they want to it’s because they know they can’t dispute the facts of harm. 💟
Hi Jessa, I see your point but since it all happens so quickly most brands are replacing talc with mica which as I explained below is not a substance that has been studied enough. One of the biggest concerns of some scientists is the presence of other minerals like arsenic & mercury in the mica. So I'm all for the change but it all depends. Each product has to be evaluated individually. We also welcome the so called "clean" beauty thinking it's the better option but after talking to a friend who is an experienced dermatologist she finds a good amount of people actually develop unpleasant skin conditions from the newest and so called safe beauty products. So it not that simple. I'm open minded but I like to rely on science too.
@@Frenchforaday I can agree about concerns regarding mica. Corn starch is another add in that companies are turning to. Though often grouped, talc free isn’t about clean beauty. That’s just a hot button to push. It’s primarily about respiratory carcinogens, secondarily about reproductive carcinogens. The massive class action Johnson & Johnson case brought all of that out and companies find it indefensible to continue. The companies, particularly large established ones, don’t want the exposure to litigation they cannot win because the proof is so strong. People these days will still talk about people that smoked and didn’t get cancer or that never wore spf and didn’t get cancer. I don’t want to scare anyone here. I can absolutely respect choice in lifestyle and in beauty. I did want to mention there’s not really a powerful clean beauty mob driving this shift. Most of the biggest beauty consumers I know personally or follow are not into clean beauty.
I have used this loose powder for years its beautiful ...
I tried the press version just for a change as be less messy but It did not work for me at all i never had the flawless look that you get with the loose ...im looking forward to trying the new version though in loose...i would never buy the pressed version again ...
@@jessabeauty917it is indefensible? Isn't it rather that it's not worth the effort to procure talc that is free of asbestos when they can instead use other cheap ingredients and hike up the price considerably?
@@exomake_mehorololo
Lol WHO just put talc on the list of cancerogenous substances in humans. But sure flat Earth and whatnot.
I went out a bought one of the old versions. The new has more shine which isn’t ideal for older skin or those with texture. Too bad they didn’t offer both and allow customers to choose.
The pressed powder version of prisme libre still has talc I just bought some online to stock up .
I just received my order. To say I'm upset is an understatement. I bought the new formula in lavender. This powder highlighted all my pores and wrinkles. Cult product - R.I.P.😭
sadly , I don't think they offer this in the U.S. I wish it were available.
Is there a pressed powder you’d recommend? I find a pressed powder easier to have in my bag or pocket for touch ups.
Hi Anadel, My favorite pressed powder is Westman Atelier's vital skin powder. It works best for my skin. It gives a nice blur. It can be reapplied as many times as you like without looking heavy or cakey. The downside is that it is pricey. In the past I used to like Chanel but they reformulated it. I also used to like Burberry but I haven't tried their latest reformulation so for now the only favorite that I have is Westman Atelier.
I have the Westman atelier and it’s gorgeous but very expensive. I bought a mini of the by Terry hyaluronic powder, it was about £16.00 and it’s really good, really similar to the Westman Atelier and nice and tiny for the handbag
@@Frenchforaday thank you! I’ll look into it. I currently have the Charlotte Tilbury and it’s fine, but not nearly as special as it’s hyped, so I’m looking into trying something new after. Also I quite like the Fenty loose powder and and am tempted to try the Refy loose one next.
@@tallisinwonderland4724 thanks I’ll look into the Terry’s 😀
Thank you for the info!!!
I think the pressed version still contains talc, so it should be the old formulation. I'm not sure for how long, though.
Well, this is good because now I don’t have to actually convice myself I need this outrageously expensive powder. People rage about this powder saying is perfect for dry skin and very lightweight, which is why I became interested in it, that was the entire point of this product!! But now I can just go for cheaper options.
BYE givenchy, hope you like your new beauty talc-free jail 😂
Where can I find the new Blanc Divin brightening powder, can’t find it anywhere
Where can i purchase the Blanc Divin in the U.S.?

Why can't they continue producing things that work instead of reformulating🤷♀️
On the 9th of July WHO listed talc on the list of cancerogenic supstances in humans. I guess there is a reason. And all will ended talc free in cosmetics very soon just watch it. Titanium dioxide you might now in the sunscreens as filter used to be additive in pills- this is gone last year, thanks to France actually. The French are major force when it comes to safety of the ingredience in the EU.
