Pikmin 2 - Final Boss: Titan Dweevil (No Deaths)

- Please read the description! I'm sorry that I couldn't put it all in one video, but Movie Maker's render always ended up unreadable whenever I'd try. So, in the end, I had to split it in two parts.
The final floor of the Dream Den is home to the final boss of Pikmin 2, a colossal dweevil that has taken several treasures and is using them as weapons.
I want you to ignore everything I said in this video. The best strategy is to use yellows to take down every weapon, starting froom the monster pump and finishing with the shock therapist. I'm sure you can figure out the logic behind this, unlike me when doing that battle... - เกม
I love how you get four big and expensive items worth 1000 each, and then you bring Louie in and it's just like "King of Bugs, 10 pokos". Louie's life is literally worth less than a bottlecap or a battery. In fact, fruit is worth more than Louie.
Memento Mori because Louie's an asshole no one cares for him
@@13Dragonblade it's not even funny it's true
louie is worth all the money in my heart
Louie would've been worth more if he didn't waste like thousands of pocos to prepare for a rescue mission
Don’t worry, Louie. I and a few other people still love you
Titan Dweevil: is slowly dying
Pikmin: *time to sing*
I mean, it's true.
Or victory sing
@@kingtiger9343 it is when you have 20 of each that it happens.
@@yokai59loi36 oh, so a nice little hidden detail then, that's actually pretty cool
@@hallowse the singing happens when there is 20 of each pikmin and it happens anytime.
I know from the title that there were no pikmin deaths, but I damn near panicked when all the yellows were on fire and you couldn't get up, my god
Same
I remember when I didn't have enough pikmin left to carry all the treasure back. Sad times.
Big sadd boi hours out here
When you suck so much at pikmin 2 you cant bring louie back after the boss
High Hatchling Boss treasures in Pikmin 2 always take less than the number of Pikmin you have, so it is impossible not to be able to carry Louie. The other 4 treasures the boss has aren’t technically boss treasures, so they always take 30. The game doesn’t consider the 4 titan dweevil treasures boss treasures, only the ones that you get after defeating a boss.
PIKMIN ARE SUFFERING
I felt in this situation 2 times... The last time, the fucking water killed the ONE I must have to carry, just before the treasure touched the floor...
I love that when the dweevil uses the flame thrower (or Flare cannon as it’s called in game), it gives you the most horrifying melody out of all the weapons, the thought of this song playing while there are many pikmin running around, letting out panicked screams as they get caught on fire sends chills down my spine
For me it's the absolute hardest part of the fight too. I've fought this boss upwards of 15 times and it's sooo frustrating! He keeps taking me out with that damn flamethrower! 😭
@@captain_dngetting stun locked hurts so much because there's an even bigger chance of losing those flaming Pikmin 😢
3:57 I love how he dropped everything to save that one white pikmin aww 😊
I honestly support the idea that Louie was controlling the Dweevil. Now, I know the Dweevil still attacks you if you revisit its cave without collecting the treasure, but I have a very simple answer for that: It's just for gameplay purposes, therefore it has no bearing on the plot.
The titan dweevil is armed. Meanwhile, the other two ARE the weapons
Maybe it's that the titan dweevil exaggerated Louie's bitterness at the time when he got left behind, he's also literally unconscious
Dweevils behavior is affected by whatever they carry. The fact it's carrying four weapons of death would likely cause it to just act like this.
Since Pikmin 4 came out (Spoiler at end), I'm convinced that Louie built the Titan Dweevil suit himself, possibly using parts from the bosses you fight (like the other Spiders/Long Legs bosses). The games are basically spoonfeeding us "LOUIE IS EVIL!!!" at this point, and isn't just "greedy/gluttonous" or "weird" as Olimar tries to paint him in logs/dialogue. He is conscientious of his actions and has some motive that hasn't been disclosed yet in the lore.
*Spoiler*
Interesting that Louie is the final boss of TWO Pikmin games 🤔

I find the music of Pikmin 2 fascinating, but this boss fight has got to be my favorite use of its music. Each attack has its own music track and essentially a "personality". The fire attack especially displays the true danger of the attack itself in its powerful, driving, dissonance.

I like the idea that Louie might be controlling the Dweevil. That would make an interesting mechanic for a future Pikmin game- Olimar fighting with Pikmin during the day, Louie killing stuff atop a giant creature at night.
That’s why he was so stunned afterwards. He had just been defeated…
Louie's objective: *Meet kill quota*
Maybe it was because he was still very bitter when olimar forgot about him, and the titan dweevil mistook it for *"MURDER THE OLIMAR"*
We did get night expeditions thi
And we also got Louie side missions though the final prize is slightly handy.

If Louie WAS controlling the dweevil, I really don’t blame him for doing this. I mean. Imagine being ditched on an alien planet by your co-worker where nearly everything wants to kill you and you have no resources whatsoever. I’d be totally pissed
Nah he jumped
Nah man louie was just passed out
I remember seeing a theory that the Titan Dweevil was just a random spider that louie armed with the 4 treasures so it could defend him. Louie was sleeping during the boss battle and he couldn’t explain that he befriended it. This opens up a crazy possibility that we could use another Titan Dweevil against the final boss of Pikmin 4. How the heck he didn’t wake up during the boss battle i have no idea.
To be fair Louie is the reason they had to go to that alien planet in the first place.

For future readers, it is the easiest to dodge since the monster pump hits all of the arena, flare canon faces your active captain and the shock therapist can decimate your battalion in seconds. But even with all that, the bomb doesn't even hurt that bad.
Yes, it does especially if the Captains get hit by it.
16:05
I like how all the pikmins sing along just how we beat this boss and every one of them survived
First time I fought this boss. I stripped all the treasures off it, and when it was on its second phase (harmless) I took the treasures, and just left louie.
the ulitmate prank
"It's just a prank bro"
based
Well he mind contrlled the Beast to kill olimar pikmin
If you come back after doing that, is it stuck in phase 2?
I remember seeing the Titan Dweevil for the first time and I barely scraped by with like 20 Pikmin or something like that and when it got out of the ground. I went pale like a ghost.
One of the most terrifying childhood gaming moments,
This game has some good boss music.
And I like to imagine that the 10 pokos Louie is worth are just due to some pokos he happened to have in his suit.
The Dweevil's entrance is just SO COOL. Seeing Louie potentially in distress, a huge mountain of treasure, and then up come the legs. Crazy shock value on the first one with how huge the Dweevil is, and then you find out that a Pikmin Boss HAS **WEAPONS**. (Technically there are one or two other enemies with proper weapons and one is a Boss, but they've got nothing on this guy.)
I really like how you acknowledge that the Shock Therapist is the most dangerous weapon, then make destroying it a first priority. A surprising number of players save it for last, which I always thought to be a little counterproductive.
Saving it for last IS smart if you only use yellow pikmin throughout the fight, though.
I've never played this game, so i wouldn't know, but wouldn't taking down the monster pump be better cause it hits the intire floor?
8 red cabbages the electric one is the most dangerous since it one shots your pikmin (except the yellow ones).
You still can save your pikmin with the whistle if they're drowing, burning, or poisoned.
8 red cabbages as for the game you should play it , it's really great !
(Except when some creature kills your entire crew in one shot ...)
h i i ' m a s a n t a n i c i n t e r d i m e n s o n a l w a t e r d e m o n.
Details for 2:32: Shock Therapist will throw mines and electric current not separately but simultaneously; Monster Pump will launch bubble attack faster; Flare Cannon has no particular change; and Comedy Bomb produces not 3 gas waves but 4.
Flare cannon fires a bigger flame and spreads it more, comedy bomb's poison can also suddenly change direction when damaged.
Flare cannon is made MUCH worse with a huge hitbox increase, making it nearly impossible to avoid, and it can also stunlock your captain, FUN
I like how Pikmin 3 carried on the trend, of a final boss using an attack that one Pikmin is strong against.
Boy, the Titan’s death animation looks absolutely stunning for a GameCube game!
I love how each weapon has it's own suitable music when used; the odd synths and zaps of the Shock Therapist, the floaty, bubbly strings of the Monster Pump, the horrifying, shrill scream of the Flare Cannon, and the strange, demented, yet somehow goofy tone of the Comedy Bomb. Each really does encapsulate that attack's feel incredibly well.
13:13 - The pikmin start singing as a giant spider tries to kill them.
EVERY PIKMIN IS IMUNE TO THE WEPON IF THERE COLOR

Do you know ai no uta lyrics? Lol
Cause they know that now the big bad bug can't do anything. They've broken every harmful part of his body, and then they sang a little song to let him know that he's gonna die.
Jupiter9099 this version of it actually can’t hurt you
I love how the music changes based on which attack/how many weapons it has, adds so much tensity and immersion
Man, this was the ultimate boss of this Nintendo game series. It basically had all the elements of different Pikmin, it was great and terrifying to see this bosses different attack skills👍🏼
Titan Dweevil will always be leagues ahead of plasm wraith
The only one that mattered was electric
@@Louie8888while Louie possibly controlling the Titan Dweevil is funny and could lead to some entertaining questions about his character, the Plasma Wraith has much more build up and uses all available Pikmin types to a better degree. The presence of the Shock Therapist in Titan Dweevil’s fight makes using anything other than yellow Pikmin a significant risk with the only reward being a slightly faster kill IF the Titan Dweevil uses the Shock Therapist and Comedy Bomb less than the other two weapons it has. The Plasma Wraith does not have these problems as all of it’s available attacks are less oppressive than the Shock Therapist, allowing for a larger variety of Pikmin to be used in the battle at once, and you are rewarded with a much faster kill for using more than just the Pikmin type that is at the least risk in the fight
@@Starmist2000 "Uses all availible Pikmin types to a better degree" is a stretch when the best strategy by far is to just bring 100 rock. Sure, players will be players but more could've been done to avert incentivizing this strategy... the piercing needle attack is the only dangerous attack the Plasm Wraith has, and rock are conveniently immune to this. It's too easy of a fight to spoof when rock pikmin can destroy the fire/water/glass constructs (and maybe the electric but I've never personally pulled it off), and aren't posed any real threat. The best strategy *should* incentivize using a varied composition of pikmin types, but the way the boss is structured makes it a far worse strategy. Generally, full rock comp will be faster and easier. The biggest danger posed during that fight was to your leaders, in the end. Great fight in concept, but makes it far too easy to cheese. Arguably, a player can go out of their way to not do this but it's somewhat of a design flaw that this is so incentivized to begin with.
I don’t know I feel like the plasm wraith was still a challenge especially when it spat out different elemental plasma and hovered in the air.
A piece of advice: have the captain
Who is not fighting and has all the other Pikmin move in to the area by the gyser. This area is the least likely of getting hit by attacks.
Its also easier to recall the pikmins if they do get hit as the area is small so they don't run around too far
It's not 100% though, I lost 6 Pikmin to the pump when hiding them there
more like 94%

I've just realized the Titan Dweevil's Comedy Bomb totally has the same skull and crossbones design as Koffing and Weezing AND it's poisonous. Even in the final battle, Nintendo still make references to other Nintendo games.
Don't forget Hydro Pump, a water type move! Neat, huh?
I mean, the skull-and-crossbones motif is often used to denote toxicity on a fair few products, but the resemblance is certainly there, what with the purple colouration and all.
I just have a feeling that Loui just wanted to sabotage the landing so he can leave Olimar there and Loui could be the only one with the treasure. That’s why Loui is there kind of like the “final boss” in Pikmin 2.

@Danny Commanda -_-
Chuggaconroy moment
I got that too
Bulelite he got a poison tutorial on the final fight.
3:00 The tutorial cutscene of shame
The music just sounds so hopeless at the start of the fight, like you can’t ever win. After you knock off a part it gets ever so slightly more hopeful, but still hopeless, and after the parts are all knocked off it’s like, “let’s finish this” and then there’s just so much hope at the end, and you beat the boss and win the game.
I always loved how it has this whole "there's no hope" vibe and you can only use a portion of ur PIKMIN, but towards the end when all the treasures are off of it you bring all of them in and kill it
One of the best boss fights in a Nintendo game
Titan Dwevil is one of the most satisfying monsters to beat.
It has seemingly malicious intent, but when you remove it's tools, it becomes a big squishy wuss. Very cathertic.

Theroy (not mine dorklys) Louie was piloting the titan dweevil because he ate the water wraith. Why else would it have the pikmins exact weaknesses? Louie ate the water wraith and it took control of him.
fun fact: I have heard it can grab the weapons even after it drops them so try to distract it while you take the treasures
I've heard that and also the opposite. I actually don't think it picks them up at all.
Hawelo92 I have never seen it grab the weapons since I only kill him and not take the treasures since it's only a 1 time opportunity to fight it at full strength, besides it's fun having to fight it with all it's weapons
Best strat is to use yellows, then wait til it uses the shock move and as it tries and fails to shock you, attack its other 3 weapon parts, I recommend starting with the faucet since that one is the most annoying to avoid by far. Save the bulb for last since its the easiest one to counter attack during with yellows
Plot twist: Louie was in control the whole fight.
I loved the titan dwevil. Only down side was it was a one time boss
Andrew Jatib He will respawn if you go back to the dream den but if you brought the treasures back to the ship he won’t have him, rendering him harmless.
Titan dweevil is good fight
The Pikmin were singing Ai no Uta.

Liam Watson wh... you mean you are nmad they sing about death wheb they are about to die, or are you just soulless?
That song actually sold better than the game itself.
I thought it was low rider lol.
How each weapon becomes stronger
Flare cannon: it activates faster and has a larger flame
Shock therapist: the anodes activate quicker and can spread farther
Monster pump: it shoots water much quicker and is more unpredictable
Comedy bomb: has more streams of poison and change directions
i was devastated the first time i came across this thing
My strategy for no deaths:
Yellows on shock therapist,
Blues on monster pump,
Whites on comedy bomb
Reds on flare cannon
My strategy for deaths are okay:
Yellows on shock therapist,
go crazy on everything else
....So you fight the boss as intended by the devs for acing the battle?
Interesting...
i know, right?
CanSteam I gone for the shock therapist last
my strategy for every time i fight it- Yellows
I can see how much this boss influenced the last battle with the huge dog in Pikmin 4. I think this one is actually harder than the dog
The titan dweevil is one my favorite bosses. in design the palasm wraith but this thing is also amazing not only dose its use weapons/treasure as its way of fighting but it also uses the tresasur/weapons as armor (sort of) and how it looks metallic and robtic at first and then turns organic its just amazin
(and yes it coude be that louie who was definatly controlling the dweevil was able to then use the treasure as weapon that also coude be)
I opted to deactivate the water pump first, as it was wreaking way more havoc than the shock therapist.
Titan Dweevil: very tall, slightly more effective than regular dweevil depending on your skill on it, carries 4 treasures allowing it to use all elemental hazards as regular dweevils use one, cannot pick treasures back up.
Of it could the right would be way harder.
If you are GOING to use purple potion on him, be sure to save one for the end.
I swear to god, if monster pump (the water gun) didn't reach all the way of the floor, the battle would be so laughably easy...
I like how, even with some weapons being stronger than others, they all still have the ability to completely devastate you and massacre Pikmin
The Flare Cannon (especially when broken) has a really long range that, if you don’t get to higher ground, can very easily stun lock you, making you unable to do anything as your entire army burns to death
The Shock Therapist is really easy with only yellows, but using yellows makes the fight take longer. And, of course, electricity is instant death. Plus, those spike balls just tend to go flying
The Comedy Bomb, just like the flare cannon, can easily stun lock you if you aren’t careful. Actually I think it’s arguably worse since you have the potential to be stuck in a constant rhythm of getting hit by the next poison wave
And finally, the Hydro Cannon. The most dangerous if you split up your army as it can hit anywhere. Add to that fact that if one of your squads are hit, you panicking trying to save them may cause you to neglect your other group of Pikmin (probably yellow ones) who may also be drowning without you even noticing. Of course there’s that strategy of using all of your Pikmin in one group, but that Shock Therapist…
3:04 so your Pikmin never got hit by water once in the game? Wow! You are very careful.
Not really, just spam purples and everything that isnt a boss just gets waltzed over, and theres only like 3 enemys i recall that have water based attacks, titan is the only boss one that does it, the other 2 are a blowhog and a dweevil wich arent hard to beat
Oh no pikmin are on fire?!
*_Better blow my wistle_*
I know it's been 6 years since this video was uploaded but, one thing i did the first time i bought this boss was take the 2nd captain into the tunnel with the fountain to exit, there the monster pump can't reach the other pikmin(on rare occasions it can hit a few) then you're free to fight it as you wish. I do agree though electric has to go first as it is an instakill for non yellow pikmin
First run of this I went in with 100 purples. (Had cleared out the treasures before but was low on pikmin) anyone wanna guess how that went?
tremendously horrendous but double bad
@@patriciasordo7023 I remember running this 3 times if that helps XD
My "technique" is to bring in yellows, target the monster pump first (due to it putting your standby pikmin in peril), comedy bomb second, flare cannon third, and shock therapist last as it is useless because you have yellows. Now, for the standby pikmin, keep them around the exit and switch to the captain there only when the monster pump is in action. Use ultra spicy spray as necessary and avoid using ultra bitter sprays as it glues the weapons to the dweevil.
If 1 cent is 20 pokos, louie is half a cent, MEANING I can buy 200 louies for a dollar
3:00 he got a tutourial in the final boss of the game

I tried fighting this thing four times with the all yellows method, and the separate teams method, and eventually I just got fed up and took the whole squad of rainbow in to the fight. Never lost a single Pikmin on that attempt, and I *still* don't know how I pulled that off.
13:39 The pikmin singing as they watch a giant spider vaporize in front of them
“One of the only hard fights in the game” is so fucked up I had my ass handed to me by so many of these dungeon sub levels
You know you could be super strategic in this fight, or you can just get a bunch of yellows and whistle for them whenever they get stunned, they’re the only ones who can survive the instant kill electricity after all
16:03 They sound like they’re about to sing “Low rider” by War.
Somebody else has most likely commented about this, but leave the shock therapist for last. White pikmin are obviously very weak, so you’d spend a long while breaking the comedy bomb off. It gets boring very easily.
duuuuude I remember the panic I had as a kid each time seeing that thing
LMAO LOUIE ONLY HAS A NET WORTH OF 10
a lot considering a red bulborb is worth like 7
Louie by far is the worst coworker ever. He eats 10k worth of pik pik carrots and pulls this shit.
True tho
Great job beating the game with no deaths
Thanks very much!
15:12 does this imply they sold Louie
Although I had only 14 yellows, I find it easier to get rid of water, fire, poison & electricity in that order
He was really loving the monster pump there, he used it like what 5 times in a row
I save the Shock Therapist for last honestly for a few reasons
1. Yellows are immune to electricity anyway so there’s no point in taking it out first (or early for that matter)
2. By the time you get to Titan Dweevil, you’ll have the Anti-Electrifier making you (Olimar) immune to electricity
3. The Monster Pump is the most dangerous so I like to take that one out first at least
My favorite weapon is comedy bomb 10:58 bc its name is comedy, it has climaxing music, it's based off a whoopie cushion (I think) and it turns the dwveeil to purple.
The value of Louie is 10 pokos. Wow.
worth more than me
@@omarpikm2101 louie is literally 50-75 times smaller than you. You're worth more
and me, im probably like 1 poko lol
If 100 pokos are more than a year's salary, this boss alone was worth more than 40 years of salaries. That's one expensive boss.
Also, something about the "Comedy bomb" bothers me. It's clearly some sort of weapon, definitely a Geneva convention violating one
Ahhh, the pure frustration of this boss fight, especially when you get wiped in a single move
My strategy when fighting this boss is to beat the Shock Therapist until it starts smoking, since I think that makes him use it more frequently, then destroy the other starting with the Monster Pump.
that's pretty smart if true. I know the smokier they are, the deadlier the attack, but I didn't know it affected the frequency too.
I can't prove it, it was just something I kind of hypothesized as a kid that more dangerous would also include the frequency, since the smoking weapon is also in theory the hardest to hit since he moves it and attacks with it (and due to captain stun, holds true for most of them bar the Monster Pump for a different reason).
It might not be the case, but at most just meant I did some damage sooner than required. I did notice he is more likely to choose a weapon if you're attacking it regardless of smoking, so even if the Smoking thing wasn't true, attacking the Shock Therapist prompted him to use it more, so I could sidestep the attack and let the Pikmin beat the Monster Pump while ignoring his move.
My strategy:
1- Shock Therapist (Insta-Kill, yellow pikmin are the easiest to use)
2- Flare Cannon (I hate that flamethrower... so Red pikmin come in second)
3- Monster Pump (it can Hurt my pikmin outside of the ring... but is easiest than the flamethrower for me)
4- Comedy Bomb (The least difficult, until you damage it too much.... also white pikmin are the hardest to me to use).
So... i prefer to destroy first the fire weapon rather than the Water one because i usually get hit by it.
Comments apart... this boss is awesome. And incredible final boss that makes use of the 5 types of pikmin.
Red, Yellow, Blue and White to destroy the weapons, and Purple to carry the treasures.
I beat the boss with this strategy:
I took out the Monster Pump first,
Second was the Comedy Bomb,
Third was the Shock Therapist,
Finally, the Flare Cannon with the Reds,
Then once the Titan was at it’s last bit of health, I used an Ultra-Bitter Spray.
This boss is just pure stress inducing material
the melody gets so darn horrifying when the dweevil uses the flamethrower
When I was playing this game in dolphin emulator, this boss was hard as f**k because even if I have cheats activated, the weapons won't fall and i was trying to not let not even 1 Pikmin die and one of the cave sublevel was hell because there was bombs falling from the ceiling and it kill every type of pikmin
The ending was so confusing to me because we didn’t try to help louie, we just sold him for 10 pokos. Like we don’t even talk to him or anything, we just take him to the surface and he does nothing.
You know, if you use an Ultra-Bitter Spray on the Titan Dweevil, you'll get a shitload of potions!😃
I beat this thing with 5 WHITES LEFT.
That monster pump, i swear to god
Wow you were so good at saveing pikmin from ddiein
fun fact: since dweevils copy the behavior of what they carry, that means louie is a literal monster who only knows bloodshed
or, consider : the four deadly weapons it is carrying?
It's sad that a bottle cap is worth more than Louie.
The last time I beat the Titan Dweevil was before the Nintendo Direct XD, and before they announced the Switch releases. I like to use all my Pikmin while fighting. Monster Pump, Shock Therapist, Flare Cannon, and finally comedy bomb.
