Great idea! Besides adding a round piece of foam in the bottom, you could also add a round piece of carpet to protect the foam and stitch a small piece of cloth across the bottom of the front a few inches to help catch your ammo.

Really good ideas. I feel like there's all kinds of possible ways people can improve them, but as a basic core for a lightweight catchbox, they work pretty well.

    Thanks for the find.
A few mods and that be effective and affordable... but moat importantly it is portable.
Aside from the sticks in the mud, which is good to my mind. One can use some light tent stakes and lengths of paracord to hold it in place.
See y'all later I have to go to Walmart...

There is a company in the UK that makes a catch bag that I saw a review for. Since I didn't want to wait for a delivery from the UK, I bought a nylon laundry bag, made a hoop out of steel wire, and just let the bag hang. You don't need any additional cloth as the ammo hits the bag and falls in. Cheap, easy, and most important, durable. I've already put 200 rounds of 8.5 mm steel without a single blemish in the bag. I love this DIY stuff!

I love DIY, too. It's one of my favorite aspects of the hobby. I know the Catchbox you are talking about. It's what made me start thinking of ideas. I'd love one of those from England, but the shipping is high. Would you care to show me a picture of yours? My email is Slingshotter73@gmail.com. I'm interested in seeing it.

I believe they sell a fabric for blocking out light in windows 'blackout fabric or close to that, works well for a curtain to catch the ammo before ya blow the back of it out,two sided Velcro that sticks for easy attachment. They also sell large 'Lobster clasps& some heavy ....8mm crystal like string for target s. I like that it's deep but folds down flat👍. I haven't attached anything permanent for bounce outs on the bottom of my portable yet..

The extra fabric I threw in the bottom is the extra ballistic fabric from my wooden catchbox. My wife suggested velcroing in some of that on the bottom. I'll probably use that in conjunction with the foam.

I had one of these but I shoot through the back when I miss. It should work great for your purpose

Yeah. I put a good tear in the seam. I won't be doing much more than tossing it around the yard practicing at different distances. I won't shoot it anymore until I get some egg crate foam or something in it. It'll tear out for sure.
