- "Ten years ago, my friend showed me a picture of his gay friends who had a kid through surrogacy in the US. Till then I had only seen White gay men with kids. But I was so excited to see the picture of two Indian men with their baby. It was the most beautiful thing I'd seen & it stuck with me. Someone like me having a baby through surrogacy, made me realise I could too.
My husband Andrea & I found our surrogate Jennifer through a surrogacy agency. She was a medical professional from the US, and the kindest person we've met. Surrogacy & IVF are complex processes, and covid didn’t make it any easier. Due to the huge time difference between the US & Australia, we’d be awake at 3am for every ultrasound appointment, holding our breath for 15 mins to just hear the doc say ‘everything is good; the baby is healthy'.
Despite the border restrictions, we managed to travel to the US for the delivery. Meenakshi was born on 26 April 2021 & life since then has changed in so many ways.
Our day starts when our daughter wakes up & it's pretty full-on until the day finishes. Andrea and I are very hands-on parents, and we share our parenting responsibilities equally from changing diapers, giving her a bath, to food prep and feeding her. Some early days weren't easy but it really didn’t matter. We had our baby! That was everything to us!
I remember hearing people say ‘Oh but a child needs a mother’. But being a parent for 8 months now, we can assure anyone that gender has nothing to do with parenting. All a child needs is loving parents. It doesn’t matter if the parent is a man or a woman.
I get a lot of messages from the South Asian LGBTQ community & it's beautiful to see someone say ‘I want to have a family like you’. We hope our story sheds some light on how diverse family structures can be, and they all are perfect in their own way. "

It matters a lot because mother is a biological being who reproduces the baby. Baby need breastfeeding. Also baby get an emotional bond with mother because mother has femininity. Female is more emotional due to their hormones and mind formation.
then what about the mother who abandoned her child in an orphanage and another woman who adopts the baby. The baby still gets bonded with the foster mother. And where is it written that motherhood is only for women?. Motherhood comes by actions, not by gender.
@@jayashribarai6124 motherhood won't come through man's nipples right. Lactation or mammary glands are present in female's breast which contains whey protein which is responsible for the child's growth. Not all the mother's are abandoning their children. There are 140 crores people living in our nation. Exceptions are there in each and every case. It's a shame to a lady who has done this inferior thing to an infant. I'll still hope that the baby will get a good future but over here they are promoting the gay relationship on the altar of kindness.
also why do you think that a woman can only bond with her child if she breastfeeds them? a mother can bond with their child no matter what. also. there's a thing called baby formulas or milk powders.
Bruh you live in the 21st century and you still don't know about wet nurses? And that emotional bond is all bs. What children need is parents who can love them. Parents that will feed them, clothe them, take care of them without ever putting any burdens on them. That emotional bond stuff is not even a scientific thing. Nor is it something biological. Only a woman can give birth to a child. But anyone worthy can raise them. By your logic surrogacy shouldn't be working but it is.
