From Florida as well, Bobcats and Gators no problem, Water Moccasins aka "Cottonmouth" those things are just mean little A$$HOLES. Now the mosquitoes are nothing to play with 🤣🤣🤣
Every body always mentions what you sead plus sharks but no one mentions what really kills the most people in the outdoor here in Florida s and that's lightning l
A vacation is a Vacation, you can rehydrate when its over is also my philosophy! Next yall will expect us to exercise and workout on Vacay too. NOPE! So yah PRIORITIES!😀🍻🍻✌🏻
For mext time you're in Florida, the Spanish Moss hanging from the trees makes a good scrubbie. Cleans dishes and pots real well. It also has antibacterial and anti coagulant properties. So happy you enjoyed our Florida woods.
@@CampingwithSamBananas be careful of the red bugs and the chiggers thought, they live in that moss and will eat you up and have you itching like hell!
Florida hiking is unlike most other places. It seems to be cool but as soon as you start moving, you run out of water fast. I usually carry 3-5 liters depending on the distance I have to go. It’s an insane amount of weight but without it, I’m useless. Lots of electrolytes and water when I’m hiking Everglades is a national park but ocala national forest is a national park too. Not sure what the guidelines for filming are but our group “Florida Bushcraft” is in there almost every weekend and they film all the time. ONF is far better than Everglades in my humble opinion! And you were in one of the best places in the ONF. GREAT job man Also those are live oaks with Spanish moss. Chiggers love that stuff so don’t play too much it it
Hey bud! You're totally right about the water but I knew there would be that pond there. As for Ocala, it's a National Forest, not a National Park. The rules for NF are generally looser and that's what I tent to stick to them. See you on the next one!
I'm sure you already know this, but if you know you'll be hiking in Florida's high heat temps, pre-hydrate days to a week in advance. It's torture to a guy like me who is like a fish out of the water and easily hits heat exhaustion/stroke body temps, pre-hydrating is a life saver.
The big TV don’t be such a wuss just watch it. It’s not that good. I love Mr. bananas, but he still cooks the same thing dehydrated chili. It looks like something. Oh by the way…I am a good ole country girl from southeast Texas. Use to camp by myself but now I’m 70 & just enjoy watching these videos because they’re so relaxing.❤
I loved this camping site. The water in the pond was crystal clear. I imagine it was spring fed. Florida is a beautiful state. A person could have a channel featuring it alone. I’d love to go back and spend some time there camping.
Finally catching up on some vids I missed. Dude this spot was INFINITELY better than my crappy Florida spot, what a gem! I commend you for having the eggs to swim in that body of water haha
Haha dude! Yeah a lot of people said that in the comments too. Only reason I did is because there was an older lady camped near me. I talked to her and she said she comes there all the time and there is never gators in there for some reason. I think they like murky water and not nice clear water like that.
Consider every fresh water body has Gators in it. They move fast at the waters edge. Never had a problem swimming with them but, splashing near the edge seems to alert them. Stay very alert when near the water! Good vid, right near my house.
Where was this location? I may have overlooked it, but didn't see or hear anything about where you were. It would be nice to know so that we can know where a nice place to camp is in Florida. Thanks@CampingwithSamBananas
Camped there many times! The trail continues to the south and is a bit longer and has more sugar sand, but it goes to the Juniper Springs Recreation area. The pond you were getting your water from is "Hidden Pond" and is spring fed, while the others are all ground water and are mostly stagnant and not good for drinking. Warmer times of the year, you will see ticks, pigmy rattlers and of course black bears around there. Never seen a gator at the pond, as it's pretty far from where they prefer to live. They've cleaned it up a lot since I was last there....there was more downed trees/logs around the campfire area that they removed. Even looks like they've mowed the grass in there, as the spot where you set up your tent usually is grassy. And the trees are Live Oaks. Great weekend hiking/camping spot that the Scouts use a lot in the cooler months.
Heyy Sam you are brave I don't think I would be able to sleep down there, the animals and birds are beautiful, awesome aerial footage thanks for sharing stay safe 😊
