@@PavSZ someone I know recently asked me about lenses as they have a DSLR and I suggested the nifty fifty 50mm as its fairly cheap at like £129 or something. They were shocked at how expensive it was. Its interesting that those of us into photo and video have a different idea of affordable vs those not into it.
just found your chanel and ive learned alot from you thnks for amazing video. i really like your shoot and grading. do u use promist filter on ur main shoot video? are you using LUT for your video, what kind? thnks
Don't be sorry because your explanation was excellent! I didn't think about keeping the same exact exposure while swapping lenses. Now I understand better why having cine lenses and especially a set of it is very important! 👍
@@stephanes. absolutely! This is one big reason why a good set of cine lenses are expensive. Because exposure is just one facet. Beyond that you want to make sure the coating is identical for color matching, which I think this set suffers from. You want to make sure the characteristics are the same as well. AND on top of that you want to make sure that when somebody gets on set they aren’t having to deal with poor quality control, that is a fast way to earn a bad reputation and your lenses are blacklisted from being used on set. Definitely a whole different world of photo lenses. I’m glad the info helped! Thanks for the comment
Great review. Agree about the bokeh, didn't like that it was so busy, Also the weight and the large front threads is a con for me. I like more the look of the TTartisan 50mm f1.4 ASPH.
T-stop and F-stop are terms that have always been a bit of a blur to me. I understand it now. That was a seriously cool video, man.And one more thing, which lens do you use for talking head TH-cam video?
Great Video, after having trio Mitakon Spedmaster T1 for MFT I think the 7 artisan could be a good idea... Just I have one question I just bought a Panasonic L S35mm 1.8 and I think it is DOA the autofocus rattle and it is not at all silent like some elements inside are loose do you had similar issues with Pana S Serie prime lens?. Idk, it looks like the focused on subject is falling out of focus in a lot of cases or just getting the sense that the focal range is really narrow (looking at the footage it reminds me of shooting in macro on my Pentax Qs1 which had a narrow range with the extension tubes) It definitely doesn’t look bad, I just imagine it being annoying to work with type of thing keeping focus ?
same with all manual lenses. You can get better results by practising a lot. I'm not the best at it, I admit. There is a device that can make this lens (and lenses like this) auto focus: th-cam.com/video/vfndhqovDBI/w-d-xo.htmlsi=fiy5SyOJZRjL0xju
Oh wow, no wonder if the lense has zero af. (I don’t think I realized when I was looking at this when shopping) And just to be clear in case I wasn’t your work is beautiful in the video 💖 I picked up some deals as I’m getting started again (which still cost me as Ohmygosh lenses do) but thankfully all 3 have af, (I got 2 Panasonic’s and a sigma lense) I definitely wouldn’t trust myself without it doing video.
it would work but it might be unnecessarily to big and too heavy for that - check out 7Artisans 50mm f1.05 instead: th-cam.com/video/KLSJ4qPjn1s/w-d-xo.html

there might be slight difference but most likely it is time of day and my colour grading. In my opinion if there is a difference between these lenses, it will be very small and it will be very easy to correct in post
@@PavSZ actually buyed a s5 used only after checking several meike t2.1 reviews . I have 35 for 2 month still didnt used (in real situation) but i love his renders despite i have 35 sigma 1.4 art
Vintage/outdated optical formula tuned for photography rather than videography in a quasi-cinema housing. Why, just why I guess it is better than playing the used vintage lens lottery, but still.
Great review as always! I might get a set of these.
Thanks!
Interesting to learn about f & t. Nice lens, will need to look more into it. Affordable lens in the photographic sphere.
It really is!

There is no filter on my talking parts, just f1.2 aperture lens wide open.
I use my own LUTS, I will have them for sale sometime soon

I film myself with Sony 50mm f1.2 GM
Nice review! I would like to know your opinion comparing this 50 vs the 35 mm ... thanks
they are both about the same quality overall - 85mm is worse

Was DOA...so I got a new 35mm
Coming back to this ...did you use this on a Panasonic?
Also, can you give us a link to the music video you feature with the lens? Thanks
I have used it on Lumix S5 - both music videos featured in my review are not out yet
Hi Pav, what lens did you use in this talking head? It looks awesome. Cheers!
Gee, it was a year ago but I think it was filmed with Sony 50mm f1.2 GM
What lens are you shooting the footage of the lens with? Like at 5:23 - 5:34
That blur and falloff is mesmerising
I think that was filmed with Sony 50mm f1.2
@@PavSZ thank you :)
I was about to buy the SLR magic microprime, but now I'm wondering if I should get this instead
I guess this would be cheaper
Does anyone know if the 50mm t2 is a re-housed version of the ttartisans 50mm f2?
Did you ever make a video for the 85mm one in the set?
Unfortunately not.
I'm testing new PDMOVIE auto focus device for cine lenses right now, so might do that review finally
How does this compare against the Samyang v-af lens in terms of image quality?
kind of similar but Samyang lenses are better overall
Can use in aps c camera ?how to setting follow focus machine thanks
yes but 7Artisans do make dedicated APS-C cinema lenses
I have the 50 mm lens for a canon r and I can’t seem to get it to work
in what way? they are pretty easy to use

What do you think about using this lens for normal photography like using it on the streets to do street photography…

Based on these tests the 35mm looks warmer than the 50mm. Is that a characteristic of the lenses or was this a white balance or time of day thing?
there might be slight difference but most likely it is time of day and my colour grading.

for the price it is pretty good and the build (apart from slightly loose mount) is very good too
not a set of cine lenses that are purpose designed for filmmaking but a set of rehousing optics from stills lens, poor quality
and the price to reflect that. They are not for hard core film makers for sure
hi hollywood dop, this lens not for you 🤡.

is it?
@@PavSZ Ya, I am seriously considering having this but the Viltrox anamorphic is coming soon, please review it when it came up :)
