Honestly, sometimes it's really hard to know or understand what is or isn't good for you. The medical/fitness industry seem to flip flop all the time, to the point where you feel like there is nothing you can eat or consume.
I completely agree and even people who present themselves as reliable experts seem to talk way more confident than they merit. I think the only things you can know for sure are that foods with lots of added sugar or deep fried or highly processed aren’t great for you and should be avoided. Unprocessed foods like vegetables, fruits, nuts, lentils etc are better for you.
One big issue on that is because everyone wants to stand out with their new information so any new petri dish study no matter how low the sample size or level of reliability gets recited as the new dogma to live under. The basics get quickly forgotten under the veil of new "research" so taking your health advice from social media can be really dangerous. Researching studies (not just the abstracts) is something barely anyone does and that is how these whack fitness trends can thrive.
It's pretty easy at the end of the day. Avoid drugs, excess alcohol and processed foods. Eat plenty of veggies, eat meat and exercise several times a week. Exposure to sunlight is good just try to not to get burned. Perhaps some diets are more healthy than others, but eating a decent variety of foods is typically the best way to go. Extreme diets like veganism or the carnivore diet are, realistically, only beneficial for the small percentage of people who have specific ailments like autoimmune disease and such.

I loved this interview man but if you want her back on, maybe don't use clickbait titles to get extra views. The very first words of this clip she said in this video was, "I don't know that they're worse."
Totally love how she was taking the long road to explain how much wild salmon one should eat/wk to raise one’s omega 3s to optimal levels. There’s a lot of awesome nuances in taking the long road, that some people don’t realize
Somebody please help me understand 😅 When she says take 2 grams of omega 3 does she mean take 2 grams of fish oil in general, or 2 grams of combined EPA & DHA. Because on my bottle it says 1000mg of fish oil but the EPA is only 330mg and DHA 220mg
Algae oil is a good alternative to fish oil. Vegan too. DHA and EPA are present in fish, fish oils, and krill oils, but they are originally synthesized by microalgae, not by the fish.
Hey Chris, I hope you do a show on Omega-3 and Omega-6 from plant sources. I'm very curious to know what the differences are "to the" human body versus fish oil. Cheers
She refused to give accurate advice on a diet because she had no empirical data. That's the kind of scientist I like and respect. What I don't like, on the other hand, are impatient consumers who want simple answers quickly. Hearing Chris pressing for an answer at the end was disappointing...
I’ve thought that it’s pretty dumb to act like you know what’s the healthiest diet because it’s always changing webe been so wrong about it in the past even like ten years ago. I feel this rule applies to everything health related we think we know about disease and disorders but really it’s all flailing attempts that seem crude in retrospect
I suggest you go read the studies done on second hand smoking in the 1990s. If you can find it.. in short: provided a window is open, restaurant staff consumed the equivalent of 6 cigarettes per year from second hand smoke. That’s literally the equivalent oxidative damage of consuming half a serving of French fries from McDonald’s (from the seed oils) should deep frying be done outside only? Chinese women (non smokers) had same lung cancer rates as US smokers in the 1980s from deep frying in seed oils.
@@terrorists-are-among-us Back in the day you could smoke in hospitals. A friend said she smoked during labour. This was in the UK in the late eighties. Mind-blowing.
Hey Chris - big fan of the channel Could you have a guest on who is prepared to discuss the entertainment media (such as Drake and Jay-Z) who is supported by government intelligence agencies and the justification of using a technology called v2k on citizens ignoring all privacy and human rights laws whilst facilitating their profit and propogandising and weaponising their self-imposed authority? For example - why is a bookmaker allowed to influence the brain of their customers? Isn't that quite dangerous? The question is - to what extent can a commercial company influence the public? Should they be allowed access to someone's physiology and brain wiring?
Did anyone else find this woman smug & overly confident? I didn't trust her correlation with Japanese living 5 years longer due only to omega 3 fish consumption. There are many other factors involved that she didn't consider.
There is no lack of data suggesting that Japanese longevity can partially be attributed to the cultural diet that is high in omega3 (fish). The same can be said for those in Mediterranean countries.
She explicitly said that the data is correlational. That all observational data is correlational - and that you can’t ever prove causation through this type of data. What more do you want from her? And no, I thought she was succinct and forthright - not smug.
It was clickbaity but it wasn't necessarily a misquotation. They spoke specifically about whether or not low Omega is worse than smoking - it was an extremely interesting question (imo). The title was just the question, what's the problem?

Did a dry blood spot test for my Omega 6 and 3 ratio. Was 25-1 and after 28 days was 3.6-1 using a balance oil from Scandanavia. Incredible results.
Always something else to chase after in pursuit of 'perfect' health. Just enjoy your life, it doesn’t last long.
Sardine might be a better and cheaper alternative to salmon. It’s at bottom of the food chain, therefore has accumulated way less contaminants.
easiest way to add omega 3s to your diet (excluding supplements) is canned sardines
Then you have to worry about heavy metals like arsenic and mercury

How about having a blood type diet researcher on the show?
High quality pasture only (grass-fed) raised beef and lamb has been proven to have a higher omega 3 content per gram than wild caught salmon.
I thought it was omega 6 they contained?

140mg Omega-3 in eggland best egg 🙂

A lil bit
