Love your TH-cams Professor, you have helped me shake my 'need' for my narccisstic boyfriend or ex. We have a shared dog so it's easy to get sucked back in and he tries but no more. I still don't know what kind of Narc he is he did turn into a violent person once last year and attacked me, he got charged for DV went thru all the steps payed a lot of $$ to get it expunged and now he says it never happened. Indeed he believes this. He never apolagized. He's coming down at 62 with dementia so he has less control over his violent urges now.

Do you think it is delusional to be stuck in self destructive behavior like drinking, smoking, poor diet and no exercise which has adversely affected most organs in the body? This person still seams to be in denial that this destructive? I became the enemy when trying to present facts about self destructive behaviors. After years I had to give up to save myself.

A delusion is a narrative, not a behavior.

i smoke weed and i’m very aware. it has side effects and all i just simply enjoy weed. i’m not denying the truth about smoking. some people will smoke weed and have all these excuses to why they do it etc etc. that’s delusional. i do it simply because i enjoy the feeling. i love the truth and reality. delusional is a behavior. i love taking care of myself but im not going to do the extreme because i want to be perfect…. that’s delusional. all depends.

I woke up having a nightmare last night… it was so real and scary… felt like a long movie, in which I was having extreme dissonance, suddenly aware that the whole society was brainwashed into believing that they were free, but in reality were being manipulated into taking on debt, doing fake jobs, totally addicted to the internet/ devices…all resilience was gone…but it was nearly impossible to survive in the society without following suit… trying to have conversations with anyone to understand what I was seeing, feeling anxious about, was like talking to robots…no one could think, they could only parrot the narrative of what TH-cam was presenting to them… there was no longer an infinite amount of information one could find on the internet…it was narrowed down to be entirely brain dead content

Is it possible that I could be the one to pull humanity out of the collective fantasy? 😂

Prof. Vaknin, I've been thinking recently about possibility of using fantasy / daydreaming to build or recover the authentic Self in a person, who was a victim of severe narcissistic abuse. I think the vast majority of victims struggles a lot with lacking the right self concept. People are afraid that once they heal from the abuse, they will lack true identity (mostly, when all they experienced in life was narcissistic abuse in a family, then intimate relationship).
People often don't know who they really are, what they really want, and what type of experiences they need to feel truly alive.
I wonder if we could use i.e. literature and fictional characters to somehow heal ourselves. I would absolutely love to hear what do you think about it. Would it be a good or bad idea, to try to "find ourselves" using fictional characters, their psychology, dynamics, stories to empower ourselves, build ourselves, figure out what we are vs. what we were told we are?
Have a wonderful , healthy and prosperous New Year 2025!

you can use movie therapy, and cosplay to build your identity to who you wish to be. Fake it till you make it. It does work after 10,000 repetitions. You can find some activity you're interested in and build upon it, and do something daily to improve that skill set. You can change but it takes deliberate, daily practice.
