I was not alone!!!! I knew it!!! I finally found one person that spoke the real issue with democracy. 01 vote per person is why democracy does not work. We are just not equals. We are different. Even Myself from 10 years ago is different the Me from now.

No army can stop an idea whose time has come. Unfortunately the idea is narcissism.

my ex was/is a psychopathic narcissist.
    Textbook.
also stupid for sure though. from his perspective he was enlightened. I might be covert. would not be surprised. but I want to live in a healthy society that values empathy which is sad because it doesn’t look like that’s where we are. love this episode. exquisite. Muy bueno! thank you! Merry Christmas 🎄

Hello Professor, Very interesting topic, thank you. Couldn't agree more with you about the connection of the dumbing-down of the world at large and the rise of narcissism. An argument could be made to the contrary regarding the past "gatekeepers" that you mention. What happened to them, how did they vanish from the scene? Playing devil's advocate I propose that some of those gatekeepers (that you seem to think were altruistic) lost the plot and indeed fostered an environment for the free-for-all we have been witnessing. Why assume all the gatekeepers maintained their integrity? It is my understanding that for decades the publishing and music industries for example have been backing the moneymakers, if you're not seen as a "sure thing", i.e. profitable, you're a risk the shareholders and investors are not prepared to take. Soul-less societies that define true success as having endless amounts of money and material possessions is at the root of all of this IMHO. To them, personal success could never equal becoming more intelligent, well-read, cultured, refined and a better version of yourself than when you started out.

My birth mother, has a PhD in Public Service, a Master's of Psychology, and a Bachelor's of Business Management.
She worked for a nonprofit health organization during my entire upbringing. She did SOOOO much good work within the underserved communities of "urban" Colorado.
    AND YET!!!
She was INCENSED when she didn't get the promotion she wanted, a person who was YOUNGER than her.... And went to HARVARD got it. It LITERALLY turned her into a person I didn't recognize.
    " I THOUGHT YOU WERE CONFIDENT "
"WHY DOES IT MATTER, IF SHE WENT TO HARVARD??!? YOU'RE STILL THE SMARTEST PERSON I KNOW MOM!"
........ this is what I would say to her when she was CLEARLY in collapse.
She would be OVERLY cruel to me when I would say stuff to like that to try and make her feel better.
    She was a single mother...
I thought I was "helping" as a child......
But now as an adult... I know I was just setting myself up for more narcissistic ab*se.

you should have some empathy for your mom, still. she got years of hardwork invalidated because she went to the wrong school

@@thisismelvHAHAHA what is this response? Do you recognize in which general context you are responding?
It's like a universal virtual flying monkey that just spawns in to take on a left over position in a complete foreign context just so he can reenact a role that he was once trained on.

I think the same concept appears in works of late prof. Kazimierz Dąbrowski, who explained why "stupid" people, so-called "statistic norm" follows psychopaths, rather than people, who experienced positive disintegration followed by reintegration. If I remember well, it's also a central subject of Le Bon's "Crowd Psychology".

Only of the fact that I don`t know -- I can conclude that I`m stupid.

Watching my ex before he was such with his odd obsession and over-enthusiasm with his new business network groups was a sight to behold.
He strived for the position within the group as cock-of-the walk. King of the dip*hits, if you will.
But, alas - as with everything and everyone else, the 'new' eventually wore off, and the whole endeavor waned.
I do suspect however, this was partially or largely due to a combination of the mask slipping and him making a fool of himself as they all do. A subject of mockery in every company.
