My son and I love your videos. I feel like the length of your videos is perfect! Don't shoot for short.
Love it when you just start doing stuff and just see where it goes with no real plan!
This is awesome. Watching with my 7 year old daughter and she loves it just as much as I do!
What an absolutely beautiful resting place for her sister
I love the contrast between the natural rustic wood and the smooth sleek ball!
Hello from Brazil! I'm learning english with your videos. Everything you do with resin and wood is so beautifull.
Love it it reminds me of those giant smokey marbles you got in the 70s
Really cool project! All I thought of was how I want all the doorknobs in my house to look like that globe.
I like the improvisation that happens when something doesnt turn out exactly how you want it. You just keep calm and waffle on lol.
My grand daughter really loves it!!!!!!
I'm a maker and experiment with different materials and different ideas, sometimes I produce fantastic works of art and sometimes blobs of abomination. I still learn from every project, don't be hard on yourself and thank you for sharing what you do.
It’s beautiful nick you needs to give yourself more credit I love and be proud to have that on my office table!!!! Xxoo
The first one was gorgeous. Please don't give up; try this technique again.
I watched the video when it first came out and shared in your disappointment. Came back today and without the expectation in mind, it actually looks super cool.
Cool concept, how about put the dye into the resin with a syringe so once you have all the colours in mix it so the first colours in don't get over mixed, if you know what I mean
I was thinking the same thing
Or even just with the popsicle sticks. Put the dye on all of them and stick them all in at the same time. And stir it all, but don’t over stir it.
Bianca Brooks good idea too
Bianca Brooks that’s what I was thinking, put the Colors all in at the same time and maybe use something smaller like bamboo skewers they would cause a lot less mixing
I think a pipette would work better
Nick, I really like the orb. It reminds me of a jelly fish. Thanks for sharing this project.
Hi Nick, my name is Tony Fechner. I live in Spokane Washington United States. There’s a gentleman on TH-cam that I watch and he has a very shiny finish that he uses on his projects. He lives in Canada now I believe his company is called” Sprague wood turning” And the finish that he uses is called “Water Lux” it seems like it’s an easy finish to put on take the project through all the sanding steps clean it with alcohol and then you just take a little bit of this water deluxe finish on a paper towel and just rub it on the outside of the project while it’s spinning at a low speed on the lake. You can use it inside and out. And it comes out very very nice. Probably do used to coach questions. I’ll try to have answers for you. I enjoy all of your projects. I’ve been a member now for couple years I think I mean after all, I’m only 80 years old, so I hope you excuse the spelling in and then the other comments they’re not right thank you very much for what you do and take care. OK
It could make a pretty cool cane topper. Like a wizard pimp stick!
First thought? The marbles we had as kids (you appear to be similar to me in age/experience LOL) that had the ribbons of color running through clear glass. Like you I thought it lacked color UNTIL I saw it completed and it was really quite unique and actually stunning! I think it was what is known as a "happy accident"!
I thought the same thing!
The final piece and it's wooden mount look like something off of the cover of a vintage sci-fi novel, it's like some kind of weird landscape, I love it!
I really like the fact you still upload what you consider a failed project. I personally thought it looked awesome....especially in the stills. Thank you for still uploading despite you considering it a bit of a failed project.
always impressed at how clean your workshop is. love the globe of glory. think it would make a beautiful door handle on its own, unique. I love the finished look. keep calm and stay weird 😁
Deborah Langley I agree 😊
Hey Nick, since you didn't mount the bulb on top, you could make multiple colored bulbs and change them out day to day with your mood. A little mood lighting (cue Barry White... Oh ya, can`t get enough of your love baby)
Cheers mate,
SootsCrafting
You are like a mad scientist almost with these amazing ideas that you try. This came amazing. It turned out looking like a giant marble. So awesome. Love it.
If you used a hypodermic needle it would allow you to concentrate color exactly where you want it. Maybe mix some white in first for the smoke effect then inject colors in different spots or possibly pull out as you are injecting leaving a trail behind. Might even try injecting color during the setting process to ensure it doesn’t blend together. Have you ever tried using prisms in resin with a light underneath shining through it?
Nick, One of those swirl spheres in reds, blues and purples, with LED under it would look great on the end of a knobbly wizards staff kinda thing.
I love it, you did a great job
I know it’s gonna be a good video when he says ‘hopefully this’ll be a simple project’ because it never is short and simple and I just love seeing these super complex projects come together.
It looks both cauldron and crystal ball, I love it.
i love watching your show i have been thinking about getting into turning myself you sir are an inspiration
Hey Nick - these would make really great door knobs!
I would love to see a vaguely tree like shape made of resin for that wood piece you have. Mounted in the same way, with the light underneath. I think it would look like a tree growing into resin.
Sweet!
Love it with the light added Nick!
Definitely looked cooler in the still shots. Good work Nick. Sometime things turn out a little different than planned but that is just part of being a maker. 👍👍
thanks dude
I don't mind the longer videos. Keep it going. Also i love the wood piece. I agree the resin needed more pigment. I would love a purple and pink one. Even if it just sat on my desk. Cheers.
Really cool! I love the idea!
It would make an interesting night light. Dreamy kids room or as a focal point in an creative living space. Awesome job!!
I love this piece! Really cool idea and I really like the look of the finished product.
Its succulent 👍🤗😎
These would be fantastic as door knobs. Lovely effect Nick 👍🏻
Beautiful! I love it! Definitely look good on my desk...
I like how the colors interact with the light under it. The red and blue make a cool purple at the right angles. That's a really neat piece = )
Also, this is a great project. Perhaps it didn't turn out exactly how you planned but you're sharing a great learning experience with all of us. It's definitely inspirational, no matter what people think of the result!
It looks.... "other-worldly"...love it!
Beautiful ! Love the concept. Will have to try.
Great video as always Nick. You always give me food for thought!!
I'm completely new to wood turning and cant wait to try some epoxy. Keep up the good work. I am really enjoying the content.
Loved this idea. Love the way ur brain works Nick. Bloody Beautiful
I love your work! It's all truly amazing.
wow that looks really nice and better with the light
I like that piece👍.. After your last week's project I attempted similar for a pen blank using a syringe and dye. Worked a treat..
From the right two angles, it looks like a small buffalo carrying a giant jellyfish. I like it. great conversation piece.
I like that Nick as you say it is different but still pretty. I like the colours in the resin putting more in would overpower each other
I actually like the decorative light with the yellow, white, etc. Love the piece you set it on to.
I agree... the overall project seems ok, but I love how to orb came out... I kind of like the white in it, but I agree next time using darker colors for more contrast... love your videos and channel, Nick and your funky sense of humor!
I was really thrilled when I saw how you applied streaks of colour because that's something I was thinking about but wasn't sure about the procedure... I would have used far too much colour so thank you for showing this. I find a toothbrush very useful for removing resin shavings without having to stop the lathe. Good video.
Best Wishes, Brendan.
This is really cool and when you were done with it I thought about you doing the same type of project, but making that top look more like a mushroom cap and then mounting them on wood like you did as stems! We collect art mushies so that would be really awesome!!
perhaps hold on to those resin strings from the work piece dye those and use them as the swirls in your resin mix maybe it will come out more marble like patterns. ?? or has that already been tried
Peter Brown did something like this over on his channel. They just kinda disappear and meld with the new resin.
i play empire and puzzles on my phone etc and i am so sure they use your face for the character named Brand. every time i play i giggle at the likeness . enjoying your videos keep up with your awesome creations .. from Manjimup Western Australia
I Love it! It's A One Of A Kind Piece Of Art Work!!
Reminds me of glass marbles. Pretty!
NIck, the Master Crafter. All of your videos are awesome!! Your work is funk-a-delic.
hahahaah thanks Charlene x
You're very welcome my friend.
I adore this, it's a mystical crystal ball
Not sure why you would bash it, I think it is a great piece. At first I liked it sitting beside the knob but with the light it looks really cool! Well done and the colours are subtle but ethereal. Beautiful
So cool. Amazing how your mind works!
I'm also a sucker for glow in the dark and glitter, could swirl bits of that into the next one! Might look pretty cool 🙂😎
Nick! Great work. Always love your videos. Keep an air blower handy for the stringers, you won't have to stop the lathe and fight with it. Just a lil puff and they go away, lewd that from Zac Higgins
A little gold leaf floating around in side would have been a cool touch
Awesome! I bet it would look cool in white resin as well
I think something like this would look really cool with black and red colors in it! The black and red would look quite nice with a darker wood grain, as well
Please keep experimenting with this idea, i love it.
I'd love something like this in a teardrop shape. I love it
Nick, we are very excited and can't wait for Makers Central this May. This will be the first time the new owners of Easy Wood Tools will be there in the UK showing off the new and existing carbide tipped turning tools. We've also got some new tools on the horizon and obviously really pumped to show off what we brought to the market.
Hey Doug, thanks buddy . Oh yes its going to be amazing. Thanks again for the tools and chuck they are awesome mate
Very nice little piece!
Love your videos, Nick!
Excellent video Nick!!
It makes me smile to see Seymour Makebetter peeking over your shoulder! Keeping an eye on your work! CHEERS brother!
haha .. thanks for watching dude.. hope to see you soon
Nick Zammeti NZ WoodTurning that would be awesome
Fun video idea I think you should do a video of resin not being mixed correctly for informational purposes
I'm watching this.. and I keep thinking.. wow.. this would make really awesome door knobs. Just so cool. :)
Or cabinet knobs!!!
Or cabinet knobs!!
I'm with the other two people that commented using a medical syringe with a longer needle would be perfect for using your dies. Keep up the good work man your stuff's always cool and entertaining
Turned out beautifully btw
I've enjoyed binge watching your videos tonight! Can you try using fake gems or pieces of old jewelry in a project? You're adorable. 😊
If you can make a toilet handle look good, wood and resin has to be a big hit. Keep up the work, I love your vids.
I love it. Looks like a crazy mushroom
haha lol
Pretty cool! I think that its worth trying again to perfect the concept!
You should make one that glows in the dark! Love watching you work makes me wanna do it. 😂
I love it 😍💗💗
Number one I'm new to your channel number 2 love the things you make I've watched a few well a bunch lol been watching all day and three thank you for the short intro I hate long long intros!!!
your videos are always fun, and I again always learn something from them, whether or not you think they are worthy Nick! lol! please keep them coming. How about something in resin where black is like a base color and perhaps some gold metal or brass shavings are added?
I LIKE IT. Kinda sci-fi outer space vibe!
Awesome mate. My Makers Central project is almost complete.Cheers, Jim
Jimson's Stuff haha can’t wait buddy
Hey Nick! Try some pipettes when you apply the dye streaks next time. They should make the swirling process a whole lot easier!
That could make a pretty cool night light!
You could put a small hollow in the bottom and make a handheld light...not a flashlight, more like something to carry when using the restroom or sneaking to the fridge at night...no stubbed toes!!!
Love it! Next time you try this design try incorporating glitter in the dyes. To make it more sparkely.
Kind of looks like a little guy sitting on the ground with a big "clear" and colorful head. And the little stubs on the side could be his arms holding his big ol' head up. Lol! I like it! :)
I really liked this one even though it's not what you wanted. I will buy it from you! It looks cool.
Love it. Looks great!
I think its beautiful as usual.
I LOVE IT!!! IT IS SOMETHING THAT I WOULD GLADLY DISPLAY IN MY HOME. MAKING 🌎 LOOKS LIKE IT CAN BE DIFFICULT AT TIMES. I LOVE WORKING WITH RESIN AND SPARKLY BITS! I'VE GOT SOME LOVELY SPARKLY BITS TO PUT IN RESIN AND HOPE TO ADD DIAMANTES
Both of my kids absolutely LOVE your videos.
My oldest (12) wants know if you can make a sombrero?
And my youngest (8) is begging for a lathe.
Thank you for getting them so into woodworking!
That is so freaking cool! Keep doing more of this stuff! A light mechanism inside the wood core would be cool to illuminate the globe from underneath! :) :) :)
