Can you tell me if there's a reason casting resin in a vacuum chamber wouldn't get rid of bubbles? I'm planning on picking one up for stabilizing and can't see why it wouldn't pull bubbles out of resin.

Curiosity Forge the vacuum sucks all air out of the chamber so all bubbles will be sucked up to the surface and disappear.

@@sarahscraftyallsorts6482 that's what a vacuum chamber does, but I believe Nick is using a pressure pot. This instead compresses all the air under apx 60psi causing any bubbles to become so teeny tiny they're not visible.
Vacuum and pressure are two different beasts, but both are used in setting resin. Big debate on which is the best.

Aww I get you. I haven’t a clue as I’ve never used either . I use resin but on a smaller scale in smaller crafts like jewellery and polymer clay projects, I use a lighter to rid the bubbles that settle on the top. I also use uv resin on tiny things for quickness but wouldn’t recommend it on larger projects. I can imagine bubbles in larger more expensive projects to be a nightmare.

@@sarahscraftyallsorts6482 See that's what I was thinking but my dad wanted to argue with me about a pressure pot being the only way and I ended up second guessing myself.

I would think if you were stabilizing wood with resin you'd want a vacuum as it would pull the air out of the wood so that way the resin can soak into it better. Not 100% sure but this is what makes sense to me, I think there's a vid about stabilizing wood with resin on this channel.

Loving watching your videos, I am a wood turner myself, it’s been great therapy over the last 8 years. Unfortunately my workshop is packed down ready to move to New Zealand, so I am getting my daily fix watching you.
