      +Afif Rifaie (Fritzelstix) yes he does ride it in the summer. No big rides btw, but he does. My ex 2010 is still reliable, 32k kms now. You can still find every part online on worldoftriumph. Imho it's still a really nice bike and with a very personal look, much more than the newer models.

    This review and a few others finally got my to make the decision and get my own Triumph Street Triple R. Just wanted to thank you for your help. I agree with so many of your points about how this bike is so easy to ride, so comfortable and how the engine delivers the power in such an great way with such a great growl. The visceral feel since there is no electronics between you at what is bike is doing is amazing. I just got back from the break-in service and I allowed myself to push a harder off the line than I ever have before and I couldn't stop laughing in joy at the experience. That final thought, I can imagine the dread.
    I've got the Triumph frame sliders and there is no such problem with those.
    Really like the way you blended the music and the information in this video. Great editing and great footage. I really need to elevate my game in that regard.
    Love the channel. Keep riding!

    I tried the street triple myself (amongst maybe 80 motorcycles last 15 years), and must say that it is - in my personal opinion - one of te best bikes I ever rode.
    Everyone has his opinion, but comparing it to a CBR500R, is like comparing a go-cart with a VW Golf TDI :-).
    The cbr500r is perfect for beginners, it is no way a sportsbike, and I wouldn't recommand the Triumph to a beginner. A lot of my supersport-friends (zx6r, 600rr, gsxr and 1 fireblade) really love the street triple!

    Well said mate! I am ridiculously in love with my Triple!! The momentous task of finding a bike that truly "fits like a glove" was made possible with this glorious machine! When my search began I rode every bike i could get my hands on, which was in total 16 different motorcycles.. I didn't take a second look at the Triple (ashamedly to say now..) as the looks just instantly drove me away.. Thank the GODS I told myself just to ride it,to be sure it rode as bad as it looked.. well, was I put right in my place!! 4 years on and I couldn't be HAPPIER!! Great video brother, nice editing, good sound, well done!

    I currently own a 2006 triumph sprint ST and was looking for either getting a Street Triple R or speed triple R. I have to say this video has helped me out a lot as far as making the decision the only problem I have is that I'm only 5 foot 5 inches tall and I could not even touch my feet on the ground when I sat the the speed triple R but was able to put my feet on the ground on the street triple R. Because with my current bike I'm on my tippy toes when I put my feet down. And when I put my feet down on a slick Road it can be bad. I have to say I was drawing to Triumph because it was such a rare bike in America every body owns a CBR or GSXr here so it nice to stand out. I love your vids and will keep watch thanks for this one it has helped me out!

    Great review mate, I uploaded a simple reply to Skeggy Cruiser's last vid asking why we ride what we ride. One of the points I raised and have always thought this, was how you don't have to go as fast as a sports bike to get the same thrill, and how you get more of a sensation of speed on a naked bike. I have a Speedtriple which looks and sounds amazing, but I always recommend to anyone that they try the striple because they can easily keep up with the Speedtriple, just depends whether you want cornering speed or grunt out of tye bends. Anyway I've babbled on long enough, great production with the vid mate, take it easy!

      Gazzatron Yeah dude I totally agree - it's a shame I think that some people may overlook bikes like this purely because they're not faired. For where I live at least having the low-down grunt to pull you out of slow corners transformed the fun I was able to have on two wheels. I don't look back at all.

    Your reviews of this bike made me really think hard about my first bike as I'm doing my DAS at the age of 48.. I know have a 2014 crystal White STR. Which now has these bits fitted. A set of bar end mirrors a scorpion red, triumph quickshifter and a seat cowl. It came with the fly screen and belly pan when I bought it.Few more mods to be added ASAP are full engine protection and some shorty levers. My wife keeps asking what all these parcels are and why I'm in the garage tinkering a lot. Top man SMO

    To be honest, this review has just won my subscription. Probably the best review that I have watched hands down. I never thought of owning a naked bike before let alone test riding one, but right now I'm set on giving them a try. Thank you for the eye opening, honest owners review.
    By the way, has the wind blast caused any major fatigue when on a long ride or is it bearable? I ask this because I travel 342+ miles a week just to work and home (monday - friday, and excluding weekend gallivanting should I decide to gallivant) and majority (if not all) of it is highway/motorway riding and that is where my wind blast question comes into play. Keep up the great work.
    Regards coming all the way from South Africa. Remember to keep it rubber side down :)

    Just came across your channel for the 1st time and watched this video - I have a 2016 Street Triple R and agree with practically everything you said (I even used to have a CBR600 RR). I’m the same re the looks - I really don’t like the front end but from other angles it’s stunning. I had a VRF400 followed by two CBRR600s and three R6s, then the STR and the STR is the most fun and best all round bike for the road I’ve owned. I was getting to the point where it was way too easy to go way too fast on the road, the R6 was so comfortable at 100+ that it just wasn’t fun unless I was doing stupid speeds, but the STR is just fun at any speed. I have a carbon Scorpion Serket exhaust on mine (gets rid of the cat 👍🏻) and it sounds epic - raw on the throttle and pops and bangs on the over run.
    Anyway, decent video buddy.

  • @looseparts
    @looseparts 8 ปีที่แล้ว

    Sir! That was fantastic!! Your production is so polished - I'm set back... Bought my '14 Street Triple R four months ago, coming from some 60s Twins and a '98 955cc Daytona (which I thought could never be surpassed) and I love it more and more every day. Everything you've said about the bike is exactly what I would say. It is a tall bike - but I'm only 5-4 and needed it lower. I've modded my bike to allow me to be flat footed, added a different exhaust and knew before I took delivery the headlights weren't for my liking and have replaced them with a single unit from a MT-03 - However, all the astonishing character of the bike remains... I want to make a video showcasing the changes I've made, but it can no way be as good as yours. Hat's off to you! Oh. Two things... The sound of the exhaust you captured at 10:22 is the only example of what these bikes actually sound like with an aftermarket (I've got a SC Project GPM2) I've ever heard on youtube and to your last comment about what could we possibly ever trade up to? Sounds like there's going to be an 800cc Street Triple soon - could it be better than what's already perfect?

    • @OfficialSmo
      @OfficialSmo  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +looseparts Thanks dude, I really appreciate the comment - I'd love to see what yours looks like though fella. I've considered the headlight swap myself but I'm massively on the fence about it.
      Really looking forward to the 800cc Triple, but if I was going to upgrade, I'd most likely move to the Speed R.

    • @looseparts
      @looseparts 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Smo I think if you've made it this far with the dual headlights, you should just hang there. I was very careful to keep all the OE bits for when I trade or sell - you can see the bike via my clumsy vid - youtube f4ac59RV0UY - laryngitis voice, crap gear, MS MovieMaker and MS Paint ; -) For me though, I knew when I was deciding between the FZ-09 and the ST3, them headlights had to go. But I totally get it - it's a Triumph 'thing' and while I feel a little blasphemous in my changes (tidy, pipe, cowl, mirrors and headlight, etc.), I really, really like what I've done w/ my bike. If you do change your bike, keep us informed - Thanks a lot.

    Good review buddy! I bought an STR couple of weeks ago, purposely choosing the older version 2010, even though for the same price I could have had a 2012 model. The round lights and dual exhausts at the back did it for me :D Fantastic bikes, just as you said.

    Top review. I had a CBR600RR a few years back, and likewise took out the Street Triple when my Honda was in for a service, and fell in love. Unfortunately I was getting ready to move away from the south coast, up to Scotland at the time, and was selling my bike anyway, but if I was looking at a new bike now, the Triumph would be high on my list.
    This video really wound back the years, blasting through the New Forest on a hot summers day and such.

    Dude, I was literally about to buy a Honda CBR 600rr. Granted it still has its merits, but for you to say that value the triumph over the Honda has pushed me to getting my own. I was worried I would make a bad decision buying the 600, so thank you for relieving my anxiety and pointing me in the right direction. It’s 2019 so I’m gonna try to get a more recent model. Hi Puppy, its not so fun on a 600cc inline 4 due to its displacement. But triple manage to balanced out all the negatives and created something easy & fun to ride. You can ride this bike anyday & anytime and still puts a grin on your face but not wet road cause the rear spray is gonna leave your pillion and u wet behind

      Suzuki Gunner I felt the same way - I'm not sure I'd have enjoyed it so much coming from the RR if it felt a world apart by being so upright. The sporty position makes you feel more at home, especially coming from a bike that's leant right over.

    First off, that was a top review and very professional. I'm glad you are happy with the Street Triple. I recently purchased a Tiger 800 which I love just as much. Very comfortable to ride, good instruments and best of all is the triple engine. Such a great sound from the exhaust that is unmistakable. The engine is so versatile and responsive from anywhere on the tacho. We cannot filter in Australia so filtering is not important but the Tiger is still very easy to manage in traffic and low speed manoeuvres. Confidence inspiring and fun. What more could you want. Well, maybe 2 Triumphs:).

    Have you tried any tires other than the OE Pirelli Diablo Rosso Corsas? I also have a '13 Street Triple R and once the original Pirellis were worn (which took much longer than the 3-4,000 miles I was lead to expect), I decided to try Metzeler Sportec M5's. They're are on the list of "approved" tires if that means anything, I wanted to try something different and they were reported to have better wet traction. The performance seems essentially identical based on my observations. However, when I had the Pirelli's I lived in a place without interesting roads, so my impression was incomplete.

    Great real life review! I'm seriously considering getting this bike. Have spent a few days riding the 2011 model and loved it. I'm also just under 6'2" which limits the options somewhat.... Btw, what's the music at 10:55 and 0:08? Cheers

    Great review. Keep up the good work. I myself bought a monster 796 as my second bike and love it but many people say I'd probably like the street triple r even more. Im going to have to test ride in the spring but I do love my duc. It would be very hard to psrt with her. Id say the only negative for me is the front end. Msybe killing the wind visor would help. Your video has sparked my interest in this bike though. I can say all these bikes are way faster than I need but these naked bikes are just sexy and fun!! I'm late to motorcycles but I'm addicted. Ride safe!

    Great review, exactly what I was looking for... seems to me you are good at this, as in you have the proper idea or "common sense" of what people need to hear from a "review". Getting my new Street Triple R Matte Black this friday.. can't even sleep haha.. Cheers.

    Great review! I bought a 2014 Street Triple R, although I demo'ed the new 2016 Speed Triple on the same day, just because I felt the handling of the Street Triple to be superior.

  • @kishchester

    I test rode one of these but not the R after I passed my test, I thought it was brilliant and loved it, but I got an R6, I'm now thinking of going and retesting the street triple and possibly swapping it for my R6, do you think the difference in power will be a disappointment? I only ride for pleasure on weekends so don't really get used to the power the same as someone riding everyday possibly. My R6 is starting to leave me with aches and pains, my neck is killing from a ride yesterday :(

    I have a black and gold triple R and it has the two round head lights and a tail tidy with bar mirrors and some sweet delkevic exhaust system and you can hear me from a couple of miles away and in the city it just bounces off the buildings and in tunnels it just gives me chills. I'm not a fan of the headlights so it's easy to change them and if you do, it makes a huge difference, but it's all how you feel... some like them and some not... but the bike to be fair is more fun than a sports. And more comfortable.

    Nice review man. I've had a standard Street Triple for 5 years now and have just ordered a new R. I'm not normally sentimental but I actually feel really sad to see mine go even though I'm replacing it with another Street Triple!
    If it's wind buffeting that anyone wants to experience then I recommend a trip across Germany on the Autobahn; I saw 140 on mine which was quite breezy! I don't think the bike does need power more though, I thought it might struggle but even well above the ton, a good twist of the throttle and the numbers on the speedo still whizz around. On that trip I did successive 600 mile days and other than a bit of numb bum I didn't suffer at all which isn't bad for a naked bike.

    This review is fantastic!!!! Thanks so much not to many really good ones out there from riders on the 13-14 STR's. I have a 45 mile commute to work and this bike looks perfect. I was thinking FZ-09 or MT-09 in Europe but it sounds like the suspension on this bike is way bettter than the Yamaha from everything I have read. I know I want a triple so I think I may be picking one of these up. Love the white too!

    Hi mate
    Nice review and great editing on the video. Just curious as to what tail tidy you have and also which bar end mirror....same colour of bike as mine......looks good, have you thought about removing the rear pegs to give a more stubby look? Aldo the levers, are they genuine Triumph, I have ordered some Evotech shorties.
    John

    • @OfficialSmo
      @OfficialSmo  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      ***** THanks dude, appreciate it! The tail tidy is an Evotech and the bar-end mirror is just a cheap eBay one but it does the job! Same goes for the stubby levers, they're cheap Chinese ones. I had the same on my RR for a year and they were fine so I got them again! If it wasn't for the fact that my girlfriend rides pillion with me almost every time I ride then I would definitely remove the rear pegs, yeah.

    Running a Bodis slip on and PC5, seems to takeaway bits of low end torque but in return the rush from mid to red zone was faster.
    Fitted a Wilbers rear shock and it compliment the weight of the bike nicely.
    Now I think I need a steering damper lol ......

    Such a cool bike, I test rode one last weekend and I can't stop wanting one now. However I do need to say the whine the triple has is from induction, it's from the gear driven cams. Certain years of VFR are a similar cam layout. Beyond that tiny complaint, a flawless review

    I've had mine since November of '09 and still love to ride it. Every thing that is said on this video is true. I get on mine and it becomes a part of me. I think that the frame is responsible for the great traction. The older bikes has very little wind buffeting with out a screen. I've been looking at other bikes and have yet to find one that I would trade my Street Triple for. Very comfortable riding position even for a soon to be 61 year old man like myself. P.S. I still like to wheelie once in a while. Go figure. : )

    Test rode the Bonneville and Street Triple yesterday. I was confused yesterday about which one to get, but man the street's growing on me. I mirror your thoughts about this one. It is a superb motorcycle and far more forgiving than most out there. ABS as standard for the Indian model is reassuring too, we don't necessarily have the smartest traffic :-).. Thanks for posting this video. Hope you do some more videos featuring the street triple in that English country-side!

    First time I rode a Street Triple it felt like a pushbike ! Super easy to ride. The RR is obviously faster but depends what u want. The RR kinda wants u to go fast. One thing I dont like about the Triumph is the price now. Remember back in 2008, they cost £5500... Mind you, Yamaha are doing the same with MT07, pushing prices up by £500 since the bike proved popular... Plus the MT07 looks like a cheap 125... Just my opinion. Like the vlogs. Just subscribed !

    Hey man, you just got another subscriber - I watched your videos on comparing the Daytona and this, and then this review - I ride an '05 R6 atm and I love it, I've spent some money on it, I did the same exact thing as you - finished my test and got a supersport like a knob. It's been great.
    BUT
    I live in a beautiful part of the world (BC, Canada, its amazing, come try it sometime) and while it's beautiful you just cannot get the most out of a supersport, much like England (used to live near Manchester!) The Street and maybe the Speed - but the Speed will be expensive as fuck to insure here (insurance based off CC not off Class!!! Amazingly fucked up) and is heavier.
    I'ma go try one in spring I think. And the Daytona, ofc. Just to make sure. Anyway - quality vlogging with a non-annoying voice. Always good. Will watch again!

      I heard out west insurance isn't even that bad, compared to ontario... it's crazy though I quoted a CBR600rr and a Harley 48 which is 1200cc awhile back and since the harley was 1200cc it was more money. By $125. Stupid af.
      Would love to see BC one day, Ontario blows.
