- Early spring jigging for Walleye on the Detroit River with friends Pete Pappas, Justin Randall, Jeff Bottum and my son Chris.
This time of the year is "primetime" walleye jiggin and we want to take advantage of large numbers coming up the river to spawn.
Pete and Justin are the owners and producers of Erie Advantage Custom Tackle, which I call Detroit River Walleye Candy!

That was freaking awesome! One of the best walleye videos I have ever seen! You boys absolutely killed it!

Excellent video Steve! Looked like a lot of fun, KPO.
It was Dave. Got a empty seat with your name on it if you can ever make it down.
Tight lines Sir!
Steve is back it slaying Walleyes!!! Heck of a day.
Days like this make me glad I didn’t die during the night! 😂
Nice batch of 'eyes Steve!
Yes sir!
Great video, awesome cooler of fish you got. Im still waiting for a day like that down here on the reefs. Thanks for sharing
Thanks for watching TCS. Your day is coming! Headed out again as I type this. Tight Lines!
Headed there from Pennsylvania on the 10th. To say I'm excited is an understatement!
I hope you have the trip of a lifetime!
@@haulinashoutdoors2675 Thanks!
Gotta love jigging walleyes. Great video.
Thank you! Yes we loved jigging some eyes!
Ughhh only one of a hundred reasons why I need me a big boat! Awesome video Steve. Hope we can get out there at least one time together this year.
I sure hope it works out this year so we can Josh.
Wow, you all put the hurt on them!
We didn’t do too bad! Thanks Redge
Man you guys got on them good! And great editing work!

Very successful day 👍🍻
It sure was, had a great day with friends.
I’d say you had a pretty darn good day Steve, looked like lots of folks out there enjoying the day putting some fish in the coolers.
Got some beauties. Congrats !
Thanks Don, they were some nice ones and better yet it was a fun day. I hope you are healing up fine.
@@haulinashoutdoors2675 I am indeed, thanks
Great video!!
Thanks for the compliment, I appreciate that. Tight Lines to you!
Man you guys had a lot nicer average size bgg than we had on Saturday! Nice work!
Thanks John. I'll give credit to Pete and Justin for the size of the fish, they had a plan on where to go.
I really had to work for what I found. First two spots I hit were dead. Had 2 fish at 10:30. Found a small school at my 3rd spot, and stayed on em for a couple hours.
Great video my friend 👍 big like 👍
Thanks a bunch John.
Looked like a great day!
It sure was Justin, Thanks!
👍✌
Y’all start early but it was so worth it
Yes it was.
Looks like a great day on the river, where were you fishing in relation to Gross Ile? And at what depth?
We were north of there, around the steel mill, mud island area.
Mostly around 30 +- for depth. Sounds like you are familiar with the area. Thanks for stopping by!
Trying to get more familiar with it, thanks for the info🙂
@@haulinashoutdoors2675 Great video and catch. I’ve not been to the Detroit River for walleye but now have the boat and tackle to try my luck. Where do you launch from? Would be nice to come back for some breakfast/lunch at dock. Thanks
you could use some different color zip ties like some guys do to identify a mixed bag of fish and limits
Yeah I’ve heard people do that. The people I fish with are not that concerned about who caught what.
@@haulinashoutdoors2675 it's mainly if DNR checks you to identify individual limits.....if you catch a fish and give it to a buddy it actually counts against your limit....only reason I mention
Jim Powers I can understand the idea of it, I don’t know how they (DNR) would know who caught how many though. If there are 3 of us in a boat and it’s a 6 fish allowance. As long as there is not more than 18 fish in the livewell I don’t understand how they can determine who caught how many.
At any rate, good point and tight lines Jim!
Jig n minnow?
Do u fish canadian side?
I do not.
Leaches n plastic minnows?
Part way through the video I show the rig I used
Jig, plastic tipped with a minnow and stinger hook.
I think just try different things till you find what they like
Thanks
If you don’t mind me asking what marina is this? I would love a transient slip for a week
Don’t mind at all
Motor City Marina in Wyandotte, Michigan
Big female. Better back to the water for future??? Good luck
Do whatever makes you happy.
I really don't understand why people keep those pregnant fish. Great vid but I personally trough the pregnant ones full of eggs back.
