Love that the only time Ryan and Shane ever stop fighting is to unite in their efforts to torment Steven. Shane had big "older brother watching his younger siblings tear each other to pieces and occasionally stepping in to sow further chaos" energy in this episode

The moment Ryan revealed Denny’s and Shane excitedly tore off his slate to reveal the same top pick leading to an unprecedented hug while the editor cut to a nonplussed Steven was just peak Watcher (also props to the editor for the side by side roaring laughing faces of S&R next to Steven). Love it. Hope we get more of these.

One of my fondest memories with one of my close friends is when we had a shit ton of paperwork to do for a work assignment, so we went to Denny's around 10PM. Stayed until nearly 3 in the morning, only ordered about $15 worth of food between the two of us, but our waitress was so kind that at one point she literally plugged in my laptop charger to an outlet in the kitchen that was meant for one of the coffee pots or something. Denny's is a magical liminal space and I will hear no criticisms of it.
these videos are TOO GOOD to me. this trio might have the most aggressive twins-and-younger-sibling dynamic and we just witnessed the height of it when shane and ryan hugged triumphantly while Steven gave the camera a deadpan stare
Someone may have already told you, but all of the Outbacks get their onions from the same farm that grows giant onions exclusively for Outback Steakhouse, which is why they're so consistent.

i know this is not Beatdown related but these three have such great banter and chemistry that I’m waiting for the day Steven joins a Ghost Files investigation and we get the funniest episode ever.
I’ve always thought the one thing they could do to make Buzzfeed Unsolved/Ghost Files even better than it already is would be to bring in guests like Steven or one of the Try Guys or something. One of the best things about early Unsolved episodes was that Ryan and Shane were both very green and inexperienced ghost hunters and we got to see their journey into becoming more comfortable and learning what they were doing. I think to recapture a little of that inexperienced magic, they could take on the role of master ghost hunters and bring a rookie with them from time to time, so that we can see more of how different people react to the spookiness. I have to wonder how Steven or Keith or any number of their other collaborators would react to the creepy shit that Ryan and Shane have to put up with at these places.
All for Steven to join Ghost Files! That would be dope!!!

I once got in a fight with a group of ohnoxious drunks an almost-empty Bonefish, while I was with my boyfriend celebrating his birthday. They had been extremely loud and unpleasant the whole time and asked by staff multiple times to quiet down and I snapped and yelled at them. No fists were thrown but as result: they were asked to leave and our drinks were free. And my boyfriend (who I had been with for just a few months at the time) was alarmed but amused. Good time, 5/5. And the Bang Bang shrimp is indeed the best menu item.

i work at cracker barrel - fun fact! in orientation they tell you that they place their restaurants along highways specifically to draw that road trip crowd. it’s actually why the first restaurant/gift shop was built at all! there’s a little short history about the creation of the chain on their website. not shilling lmao i just tend to find these sorts of things fascinating

Waffle House tastes so amazing with your friends after you’ve just come from a party or a bar (with a designated driver ofc). Nice buzz, maybe a fight breaks out to spice things up. Definitely in my top 5.

I feel compelled to point out: after chastizing poor steven for questionable rules adherence with Hometown Buffet, Ryan's Islands only has locations in 2 states, flouting rule 3. (as non-american trusting the chain's website, they literally only have 2 locations outside california/in arizona)
They had a location in Hawaii that closed because of the pandemic. I think it technically counts since it was so recent.
They also seem to have forgotten that you pay at the counter and there is no leather book at Cracker Barrel.

Everything said and done during the Red Lobster portion of this video (10:48) was a part of Shane's "Lovecraftian" nightmare... Ryans' face after Steven reveals his pick, Stevens awed blasphemy, Shanes's reaction to the endless shrimp, and the way Ryan quotes Beyonce in the most robotic/practiced voice is really the garlic butter sauce on top of an amazing top-three pick from Steven.

Whenever my family would drive down from our little part of Canada for a US shopping trip the restaurant I looked forward to most was always Denny's. Love that place so much.
Okay I hate the Denny’s food, but they’re absolutely right. The many times I’ve been it’s always between 12 and 4 am and we’ll stay for as long as we’d like and as loud as we like. The best jokes are shared in a Denny’s. Something about the fluorescent lights, passive-kind employees and cracked booths just brings you and your attendants together tenfold. Everything good is at Denny’s.
You’re not going to Denny’s for the food. You’re going to Denny’s because it’s 3 am and you really want crappy pancakes covered in syrup while you’re friends play fight over a stupid topic that doesn’t really matter.

i love it when Ryan and Shane agree on shit on a spiritual level. Their number 1 on this list and when they both put taco bell in the fast food both hit different.
Absolutely, 100% agree with Skyline Chili. Beats Star hands down, too, as if Shane and Ryan were going to offer up that choice. It isn't just the awesome food, it is the only damned thing open after a late night at Kings Island and is a cornerstone of my memories when visiting Cincinnati to watch the Big Red Machine play. "Translucent" cheese may have been a poor choice of words, though. Clearly Shane and Ryan have never had a three-way or above, because they didn't get that it isn't the "translucence" of the cheese, rather the fine grating that allows it to melt into gooey bliss with just the heat of the chili itself. Fantastic choice, Steven. I live in Nevada now, but whenever I make it back to Cincinnati I stop at a Skyline, just as I always stop at Tommy's Pizza in Upper Arlington for arguably the very best submarine sandwich known to mankind. Since I rarely get to the Queen City, I have made my own chili recipe, both vegetarian and meaty. It is really super good - I can send it to you, Steven, so you can make those cretins eat their words. Although..... Not sure it is in three states, even if its home is in a tri-state area. Don't care, though. It is too good to have to conform to rules

I’ve never been to Ohio, but my dad was and as kids we would search krogers near and far for some of that sweet, sacred chili for Wednesday spaghetti nights. I fully support Skyline being on that list. Tastes like childhood and family.

Great episode, thank you guys for all your work & this was so good. Born & raised in Hawaii so haven't experienced every restaurant listed but visited OH where every1 has such a hard-on for skyline, to me it's equivalent to squatting over my bowl to power push a hot, foamy, rancid stink load of liquid human waste directly from asshole to bowl cause it sucks.
