Yota for the win. XJ did great but the yota was smother on the first run, took a bonus line and got closer to the tree. Not to mention 22r carb Manuel on leaf springs. Hey Ed if you read this, you gatta make that sticker of you bumping into the tree with the words “hey there’s a tree there” lol
First off that was entertaining and kudos to Falken for sponsoring this heads up battle. On the 4 obstacles in the course it was even in my eyes, XJ taking two and Yota taking two. However the deciding factor for me goes like this... The Yota was a more difficult truck to drive and was experienced with the trail, had more clearance but didnt do as well as I thought it would have as far as clean lines, it clunked around a bit for having all that clearance. Stalling out rolling down hill was a wow factor, even with the elevation. The XJ was a first timer on the trail. Did very well and got cleaner through out the challenge. Both secured the 2nd bonus line. That 5th bonus run hitting the tree line the opposite way was it for me. The XJ didn't run into it and even gave it a little kiss on its way out. XJ for the W
Seriously the closest matchup yet! While the Toyota did the Mr. John line a bunch cleaner, the XJ took both tree lines smoother (even nicking the tree)… this is a really tough one, especially being a Jeep guy, but I think I’m going to have to go with the Yota on this one. I think Mr. John was the deciding factor, and frankly it seems like the Toyota driver just had more experience and patience working lines.
The Yota, because dude was smooth with a manual transmission and leafs. Jeep did great, especially being his first time on the trail. But Yota got it in the end for me. And I am a Cherokee fan.
Thanks to Josh for explaining the obstacles. I’ve never been there so it was helpful. I’d have to go with the Toyota because he did the bonus obstacle. Gabe definitely had a smooth ride throughout.
"XJ" FOR THE WIN. 1.)👍First time driving that trail 2.)👍Smoother crawling over all 3.)👍Better job on tree line going down 4.)👍 Better job on tree line going up 5.)👎Only ding is reversing at the Mr. John Bull hard line. (Toyota) (1.)👍Props for doing it in a manual but dual transfer cases helped give whatever finesse he had. However he chose to run a manual so no extra points since this isn't about vehicle driving difficulty (2.)👎 2nd time doing trail should have been to his advantage to kill it. 3.)👎Not as smooth overall 4.)👍Cleared hardline at Mr John bull without reversing 5.) 👎Slammed down hard with no control at tree line 6.) 👎Hit the tree head on going back up & had to reverse. So thats why I choose "XJ FOR THE WIN" It seems like some are forgetting that this is "Run What You Brung" which is about how the vehicles perform on the trail overall, not about how difficult it is to drive said vehicle. So no extra points for driving a manual because its more difficult & requires more skill than an automatic off-road. They ran what they chose to bring & we should judge on the overall performance, not how much more skill it takes for a rig to do what its doing.
I think both rigs did great. The Yota maneuvered very well to be a stick and have a carb. The XJ did great considering he has never been on J.B. I’m going to give it to the XJ on this one.
Toyo had the gatekeeper slightly smoother. Tree line got a lil wild tho bouncing around making tons of noise. Both got stuck same spots. No spicy lines. Jeep did everything else better at Mr. John and the rock garden. Was much smoother just rolling over rocks consistently. I vote jeep!
huge props to the Toyota guy leaf springs and carburetor damn thats tuff. The Jeep was smoother for sure and the better suspension and more power really shined. for the first time on the trail he did great but i gonna give it to the Yota guy because of the Carb and leafs. he definitely wheels the shit out of that little Yota
The outcome was not what I expected! Both drivers did a good job out there on the trail. Toyota driver did a great job maneuvering his rig through the obstacles. The XJ driver also tackled the obstacles with ease despite having to reset a couple of times, but nonetheless he made it look like a walk in the park. It's a tough choice for me but I'll have to give it to the TOYOTA!!!!
Gonna have to say Gabe in his jeep just from coming down the tree line and up smother and closer. Great match up and cool classic toyota but jeep wins for me! @Falkentire let's go!!
People are getting fixated on the Toyota being a manual but that thing has a doubler which makes extremely easier and more capable to crawl with. The Jeep is at a disadvantage for sure. That’s why I’ll go with the XJ!
I really like the XJ, but both are pretty much even on the trail. But i think I would go for the Toyota, it take some skills to offroad a Manual transmission.
Gotta go with the XJ, you can put 3 other family members or friends inside, plus some gear. That was the deciding factor for me as I own both a Toyota and a jeep. Great job by all, lets do this again, LET'S GO 😂😂
In my honest and unbiased opinion, the Toyota Pickup won. Gatekeeper: Toyota. He went higher on the boulder and drove over more smoothly. First bonus line: Neither made it. Rock Garden: Tie. Both had to back up once, otherwise both made it cleanly through. Mr John Bull bonus line: Toyota. Made it through in one shot and didn't have to back up. Tree line: Jeep. Did it clean and got closer to the tree. Tree bonus line: Tie. Both hit the Tree and both made it up cleanly. Last section: Tie. Both made it down clean. Bonus points to Toyota for being a manual. It is way more difficult to wheel with a manual. Plus he's on leaf springs and a carburetor. Jeep is auto and has coilovers (front) so it makes crawling MUCH easier. Toyota all the way.
Both rigs/drivers did great. The XJ was much more planted and stable on the trail. So XJ for the win. But if i got to take one home it would be the Toyota. 👏👏
The JEEP XJ took it But next run should be battle of the brands cause those tires slipped way to much more than any other mt I’ve ran…. No falkens for me thanks for showing us that 🤘🏽👀
I might not be help but… if the question is which rig do I want to drive out, then I pick the XJ because it looks easier to drive. But if the question is who drove better then I gotta give it to the Toyota. Driving that smooth with a manual and carbeurated and leaf springs. Dude knows how to get down.
Really close overall. All through out. Toyota identified like a bull doser for a second. While the jeep was able to get stupid close at the tree line in reverse. I myself drive a manual which keeps everything interesting. Auto is easier to drive. Yota has the benefit of the doubler t case. But just based off the reverse tree line my boy @battlereadyrigs took it
Toyota is definitely the way to go and absolutely wins in this video. The XJ made it's way, but the Toyota proves that even how old it is, it will always get through and get you home. Toyota FTW!!
This was a close one. Gatekeeper: got to give it to the Yota. He power walked it and made it look easy. Section 2: XJ. Homie was just smoother. Mr. John: Toyota. Don't even argue, all yall know he killed it. Treeline: going down was the XJ. Tie breaker going back up was the Toyota. Hard decision, but the Yota Boys barely won this one.
XJ won IMO. I love both rigs. The Toyota slammed on the ground 2nd one (i think?) and also hit the tree (returning back). The XJ did not have major contact points like slamming or hitting a tree. Just my 2 cents. Overall, I think they both did amazing and huge props to both owners. Could never do anything like this in my rig.
I gotta give it to the XJ just off driver skill alone. The yota having already run the trail, higher clearance, lower gearing, didn't use the advantages he had. I would like to see a rematch, maybe at a lower psi and tires with better grip
XJ. Toyota gave it a good shot but when asked to take it smooth and close to the tree it wasn't. I can't really ding the guy for backing up a few times, that's how I'd do it. Falken guys changing their votes after watching, that too. Besides, drive a unibody Jeep, you need a new set of shoes.
TOYOTA … they were both great but the Yota had to work harder and smarter just to make it even and still killed it! Had the XJ been able to do the 1st spicy line and not back up on the 2nd one, I think that would’ve been key for him to win it. But because they were both solid and pretty even, YOTA takes it!
Yota ftw! Ed is able to work that little mountain goat like a pro. That pickup definitely takes more skill
Massive fan of both vehicles but honestly I’m more impressed with the Toyota being manual and carbureted yet drove smoothly.
A manual with a doubler is way easier to crawl with.
@jmar3011 False. An Automatic with coils is way easier to crawl with.
As a fellow Manuel driver gotta respect and support my boy Ed!
I'll give it to the xj. First time on that trail, which takes a lot into account.

Gonna have go with the pickup!
Xj!!! First time on this trail and he rocked it!
Thanks to Josh for explaining the obstacles. I’ve never been there so it was helpful. I’d have to go with the Toyota because he did the bonus obstacle. Gabe definitely had a smooth ride throughout.
XJ was all over Tree Line section, and a smooth bump, XJ all day
XJ even tho having less clearance still did it smoother. TEAM XJ
The jeep was smoother! Falken, thank you for sponsering. My Badlands stock tires need replacement, I'm buying yours!
First of all badass video guys. I'm an XJ guy, I drive manual XJ. But I have to give it to the Toyota on the Mr. John Bull rock garden.... 🤙🏽
Extra point for Toyota’s driver skills. 👍🏼
XJ took it in my eyes , first time doing the trail!!!!
This is a dead heat, but the finesse needed to clutch over obstacles, and fighting altitude gives my vote to the Toyota pick up...
I’ve owned both vehicles before I know how hard it is to wheel a Toyota. he did an excellent job. I’m going Toyota.
The toyota for the win! And it was stick shift come on!
Going with the battle ready in the xj!
"XJ" FOR THE WIN.
1.)👍First time driving that trail
2.)👍Smoother crawling over all
3.)👍Better job on tree line going down
4.)👍 Better job on tree line going up
5.)👎Only ding is reversing at the Mr. John Bull hard line.

3.)👎Not as smooth overall
4.)👍Cleared hardline at Mr John bull without reversing
5.) 👎Slammed down hard with no control at tree line
6.) 👎Hit the tree head on going back up & had to reverse.
So thats why I choose
"XJ FOR THE WIN"

Close AF! But I’m leaning toward the Yota for the win! 🎉🎉🎉
1 vote for Yota. Single pass on the hard section, being a manual and making it still look smooth are my deciding factors
Voting for the XJ, first time on the trail and it was smooth.
XJ hands down! Good flow thru the trail!
I think both rigs did great. The Yota maneuvered very well to be a stick and have a carb. The XJ did great considering he has never been on J.B. I’m going to give it to the XJ on this one.
Great Job by both, tough choice but I go with the Yota for the driver's skills with that set up.

The Jeep was smoother for sure and the better suspension and more power really shined. for the first time on the trail he did great but i gonna give it to the Yota guy because of the Carb and leafs. he definitely wheels the shit out of that little Yota
XJ ran thru that smooth. Rig looked good as well!
XJ all day! His ride looked good and being a first timer he should get double the points!!
My boy Ed in the grape truck!!! Winner winner chicken dinner!!
XJ looked good and had a nice ride! Being his first run on this trail he did a good job!
Tree line pts made the difference for me. Even though there was an extra pt for being manual. Vote goes to the XJ
Both were awesome! I'm gonna go with Toyota. And yes it's pretty close one!
Close.... I'm gonna go with the XJ just because it had the smoother ride.
That XJ is doing work he has my vote
What a great matchup
Taco by a smidge more 🎉
Gonna have to say Gabe in his jeep just from coming down the tree line and up smother and closer.
Toyota for the clean run up Mr John with no backups.
Love the episode. I got to give it to the Toyota.
Both drivers did a great job. I’m going to say the Toyota won given the fact his trucks a manual and down on power compared to the Jeep.
giving my vote to the XJ... they both did awesome.
Enjoyed this competition. Toyota owner, but I liked the XJ for the win
Both drivers did great!!!
Being a fan of both worlds and owning a Jeep and Toyota, my vote goes to the XJ on this one.
Great matchup. I feel the Toyota had the better lines.
XJ for the win. I think they should give them both a set. The Toyota guy needs the tires more!!
Rig looked good, XJ did a good job for his first time!
Come on! Stick shift, carburated, high altitude, less power and bald tires???! The yota was 🔥!
I really like the XJ, but both are pretty much even on the trail. But i think I would go for the Toyota, it take some skills to offroad a Manual transmission.
My vote is for the newbie great run for the first time Mr Gabe.
Manuel with leafs and it was smoother on most obstacles. Toyota for sure
Gotta go with the XJ, you can put 3 other family members or friends inside, plus some gear. That was the deciding factor for me as I own both a Toyota and a jeep. Great job by all, lets do this again, LET'S GO 😂😂
Jeep for the smooth factor. Great matchup though!
Toyota all the way - he’s on full leaf springs so if you can wheel on that setup - he deserves to win over anything with suspension!
XJ takes my vote. ❤❤❤❤
Both rigs/drivers did great. The XJ was much more planted and stable on the trail. So XJ for the win. But if i got to take one home it would be the Toyota. 👏👏
Close, but tie goes to the manual! Yota for the dub!
Both are awesome rigs, pretty even 😮. But we need to make this video go viral. . Good luck to the winner. Toyota has it , but barely
xj owner also drive manual so gotta give it to the yota thats just skill
The JEEP XJ took it
But next run should be battle of the brands cause those tires slipped way to much more than any other mt I’ve ran….
No falkens for me thanks for showing us that 🤘🏽👀
XJ for the win!!! smooth execution, through the trail 🔥
Xj was smooth but the mister John was the deciding factor for me, Yota for the win!
Absolute yota ftw. And totally not biased 😂
Xj was beast. But the yota driver knew how to wheel with a harder set. Also it was more entertaining to watch.
Toyota pickup FTW. Grape truck drove smooth considering his truck is a manual and carbureted.
XJ was smoother. Also have to take into account the Xj driver was his first time running the trail.
Close competition, both nice rigs and drivers did great. I have to give it to the new guy, first timer on the trail, XJ gets it,for me!
I’m a Toyota fan!!! But I have to say I think the XJ won but just bearly!!!!! So my Vote is XJ.
I might not be help but… if the question is which rig do I want to drive out, then I pick the XJ because it looks easier to drive. But if the question is who drove better then I gotta give it to the Toyota. Driving that smooth with a manual and carbeurated and leaf springs. Dude knows how to get down.

For the first timer I vote for XJ ... both did great but xj for being a first timer
Toyota Bonus line was the deciding factor.
Toyota, but the XJ didn't break down 😂. The Toy needs tires.
True!😂😂😂
That Toyotas super rad but I gotta go with my boy Gabriel😤😤
And before anyone accuses me of being a fan boy, I drive a Bronco.
Yota did Mr John better and had more skill driving that setup but the XJ was smoother overall and got closer to the tree going both ways. I vote XJ
They were pretty even but since it was that close. I’ll go with my favored car.
XJ
Ima give it to the Xj much smoother, even with doublers in the Toyota it just needs more power that 22r is tired.
Toyota for sure, old school fwd.
The Yota... it's carburated and manual!
That Yota is clean but my vote is for the XJ.
XJ for the win! Handled it well and was very entertaining to watch
Toyota. The reason is manual, leafs and carb. Its definitely a harder truck to wheel.
XJ 🚙XJ🚙XJ🚙XJ🚙 XJ ANOTHER BADASS EPISODE HOPE IT GOES VIRAL. THATS A AWESOME PRIZE ON THE LINE. 🗳VOTE🗳XJ
I gotta give it to the XJ just off driver skill alone. The yota having already run the trail, higher clearance, lower gearing, didn't use the advantages he had. I would like to see a rematch, maybe at a lower psi and tires with better grip
I'm going with the xj!
Love that yota!
Xj seemed to handle with more ease. Xj got my vote.
Team xj both did a great job

2 of my favorite rigs. Closed match my vote goes to the toyota 🎉🎉
Yota 💯
