Seeing Randall, Ben, Sean, and Hunter was some real flashbacks. Looking at how much the shop has changed, and the struggles the FJ went through, pets, kids, just wow, all in three years.

I lost my mother on April 3rd 2021. Watching this helped me get through that and the loss of our family home and seven dogs all within the span of a year! In 23 I was in an accident in the company truck right in front of our shop! Messed up my back and shoulder really bad! Now I'm going to have surgery to fuse my spine and rebuild my right shoulder! This video brought back a lot of memories watching the build and Paul as he evolved. When he broke his arm I too was all stuck with a cast! It's been a long good journey that I thank you for sharing with us! One of my bucket list items is to meet you guys and Merlin some day! Go team Fab Rats 😁👍

This is what I love about Paul he ain't scared to cut the frame. Most people panic about cutting a frame. Not Paul he's very confident in his ability to build that frame back stronger than it was. Just go for it

    • @caseyrenner7024
      @caseyrenner7024 หลายเดือนก่อน +9

it's from his derby truck days! he was doing so many truck Derby's each year he'd go tear up the front clip and front frame rails and win a derby then go home and "Stub" the frame and cut a donor frame front graft the two together, take the front clip off the donor and be at the next derby the following weekend. I think after doing that a hundred times and seeing the abuse they would withstand gave him the confidence in his welds holding. I agree with everything you said many people freak out and over think welding a frame, as long as it is done correctly and are good welds it will last the life of the vehicle for sure

What a great build but what I got most of this video is how happy you made some stranger. You didnt know this guy at all but you put off vibes to him that made him trust in you from the beginning. He could tell that you would do something with that FJ that he was never able to do and you did. When you pulled up the driveway the smile on his face was genuine and after showing him what you did to it and taking him for a ride, well again the look on his face and the hug. He said you dont touch someone you dont like but you could tell he was as proud of you as any father to a child ever is.

On This Day in History. It takes time to build something cool 😎.
I remember back when you were just starting TH-cam and still had a regular job. I messaged you about putting a receiver on the back of my fifth wheel. You said to stop by.
Life got in the way and I went back to trucking. But last month I finished installing the receiver on the fifth wheel. I like to think that watching you and Matt doing fabrication work convinced me that I could do it. I now own 2 welders, a plasma cutter and a whole lot more of metal working tools.
So in the spring when I return from the Southwest, at 70 I’m going to start trying to teach myself how to MIG weld and since I bought the spool gun I want to do aluminum welding.
Really enjoy your videos and bring everyone along with your family.

Wow Paul, that was really fun! I was watching your channel before you actually started the FJ, and I sure enjoyed the recap today. Many thanks! (it was also really good to hear Hunter's voice again. Miss the dude. And the flash of Pappa Dar in his blonde wig was a big hit!

If I wanted to see a "restoration" channel, that's what I would have subscribed to. THIS is what came for and subscribed for...fabrication, innovation, problem solving, vision and inspiration. You found the right platform for your ideas and just went for it. The personalities, family, friends and adventures are all bonus content and the reasons why this is my favourite channel.

Wow. This video brought back so many memories. I cant believe how long ive been following the FabRats channel. I hope i can come by for a visit one day. Im building a 58 dodge truck back to stock, and i plan to take it on a road trip to visit some of my favorite automotive youtubers. You, Robby, and the channel who led me to you, Matt, will be on my must visit lists.

Paul and Michelle, although remembering back as I watched the build of the FJ from scratch was really awesome. But even more so is how those wonderful kids have all grown up. I applaud you both for getting them involved! Well done!!

The FJ wasn't the only thing this video rehashed. Watching your progress as a channel, as a family, as your support crew, and your shop grew up right in front of our eyes was just as amazing 🤗🤗🤗 and Michelle, You deserve just as much kudos as Paul. Your editing skills are fantastic.

Watching this build from the beginning to the end makes me appreciate your FJ all the much more. My old 73 FJ looked nothing like yours...but I did appreciate it. I 4 wheeled with it...rode the dunes with it and even rock crawled with it. Not the rock crawling that you and your friends do...of coarse...I did it back in the early to mid 70's. I rolled mine over 4 1/2 times...all on different occasions. I miss mine...wish I could afford another old one. Good luck with your Machine!

Love seeing Bill enjoying the work you did on the FJ and seeing him all excited about it really makes it awesome. Pure or not it's your own and that's making it special. Love that old FJ.

Paul, you are a master builder. Most all top shelf builders start just like you have. In the shop out back of the house. You have a god-given talent. Thanks for sharing your passion and your family.

This right here is one of the reasons I started watching you guys! It started with Matt's Offroad and then transitioned to you guys and then Robby came into the mix and well; it's just been a snowball effect lol. Follow you, Robby, Matt, Sean, Tom Tom, Ben, Rudy, Trevor, Jeffe' (I know I didn't spell it right lol). Love all you guys and have been watching for a long time now. Thanks for always sharing something new...well "Old" new! :)

I SO Love seeing the whole 9 yards of this lovely transformation of the old FJ - and that you brought it back to Billy's and not only put a big smile on his face, but also in his heart - for completing your goal - to a point where he Loved it - and You !!
I have always enjoyed watching your work, your family, especially including Grandma Lolly, the Garage Cat, an also especially Uncle Merlin - including when he took your re-purposed lawn mower (hot rod) up the road to Lolly's at 40 mph.
It's been a real pleasure seeing - also - your neighborly-community sharing with Matt's Off Road, Robby Layton, and more, plus even some rock-crawling fans & collaborators who have connected in and from Florida, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, and very probably many other neighborhoods.
... not to mention your lovely area geology and pure, simple Beauty ... wish I had escaped the northern Maine winters and trekked out to Utah, at least as long ago as 1997 - really ... I've done nearly all the mechanic work and rebuilding of all my own vehicles - all of which have been old clunkers, patched up with improvised materials and other old clunker "parts cars" ... You & Matt and the others just tripped the auto 'builders' lore into level for me into another whole other level, another breed indeed ... of course there are Zillions of us all over the planet doing some level or other of much the same Work and the Fun of it All ...
    BRAVO !!
