  • Extremely rare video taken from his 1967 "Singer" show. Timeless...Enjoy.
P.S. I had the once in a lifetime opportunity to see Herb and Lani play at Blues Alley in Georgetown Washington DC 12 May 2008. The show was absolutely spectacular. After all these years, they both still have it: the skills and the love. Truly a remarkable show. Herb and Lani, thanks to all of the wonderful years of warming our hearts with your great art work. You both are truly blessed as well as I was at your show.

Back in '67 no one care where this music came from or who played it...it was just great music! I was one of many who went to school and took up the trumpet thanks to Herb! I still love this!

Growing up my mom had all these 45s. Family and people over were amazed that at 5 years old I developed a taste for this guy. Also 10cc. And Al Stewart. Listening to all these guys all over again brings back the sitting in front of the old stereo going through the records smelling moms cooking and everybody telling her let the kid go he has got good taste. Found Neil Diamond,ELO,The Doors. Its so strange how music can transport you to better times and bring back smells and places long gone.

Wow, the stringed version! Haven't heard it since I was a kid and saw the TV special. And how wonderfully absurdly '60s...a guy running across the beach...in a tux, trumpet in hand! You're wondering what's coming... Some amazing shots there through the rock formation and when the orchestra appears via the crane shot. And the kettle drums add another dimension to the tune, as well. Groovy!

Okay, in all my 55 years of listening to all forms of music, hands down this was the best instrumental on the best set, especially over a decade before MTV. He was on that iconic arch with the TJB - very difficult to stage - and then the orchestra on the beach with him ruining no doubt a good pair of leather shoes. Think of all that he succeeded and all the great acts he brought us through his A & M record label. A musical titan!

When i was a young man i loved herb alpert very much. I bought a trumpet and practiced and practiced. For years ... until I could replay almost all of the songs. A motorcycle accident, in which I lost some teeth, put an end to this, because I was hardly able to play with the dentures as before. That was almost 50 years ago. Back then I switched to the guitar and still play daily. Nice to hear Alpert's songs again ...

Herb Alpert is one of my favorite human beings in the world. He deserves all of his good fortune. This man has given back so much to the world & like Karen when all is said & done he will have left the world a better place. He does for people, give money away, plus he gave the Carpenters the brak of a life time. Herby I still have them on everyday, it never gets old. Your music is great, you are great, & like Karen & Richard Carpenter, you are an inspiration to me. Thank you

Herb Alpert has always been a CLASS ACT!! I totally agree with thegoochman that this music will stand the test of time. It never sounds dated. I wonder how many of you remember Clark's Teaberry Gum? With The TJB sound and the quirky dance step, it was a great commercial. A Taste of Honey was used in the TV show Laredo, as sort of "theme" music for the character Eric. I could listen to Herb Alpert 24/7 and never be bored. Can't say that about the cookie cutter music today. Thanks for posting

From the early sixties to date.. I am so lucky, indeed. With this music that would make you remember those days when simplicity and purity were virtues.
I can recall the early morning sunlight and the evening crimson heavens. At night were myriad of stars. And then shooting stars streaking from time to time. The only sound was the chirping cicada or the seldom barking of a dog. And we sleep without even closing the door because we trusted the people around us. Golden rice stalks in the fields
