    FINALLY a video on this card. Out of all the 4090's this one interested me the most. Now I don't much care for Performance/Overclock performance between individual 4090's because they're all very similar. I was more after a card that would have better cooling, less weight on the GPU itself and honestly, just a nicer look. And this was the card I decided I wanted (When it's back in stock.). I'm shocked there's so few videos on this card breaking it down.

    Thanks for letting us check it out, the lack of reviews for this is just baffling, you can't turn around without tripping over yet another review for MSI GeForce RTX 4090 Suprim Liquid X.
    Can I ask, is the fan cable a standard 4 pin PWM connector? I got desperate and checked a review of the Gigabyte 3090ti Waterforce (it's a similar design) and a reviewer indicated Gigabyte were using a proprietary connector because (I'm guessing) one of their engineers thought this would be hilarious.

    I just got the 4080 version of this card and it is ABSOLUTELY AMAZING! It was on sale at Microcenter for $1,249 and the 4090 was $1,849 (couldnt justify the extra $600).
    This card stays QUIET! even playing Plague Tale at 1440 I stay at 50c and push 100fps with ultra everything. It was Godsent over my old MSI 3080 which doesnt even compare! I was skeptacle because..well...gigabyte...but 4 year warranty, they obviously back their stuff. One IMPORTANT NOTE: if you want to boost the clock speed, you will have to have an extra PCI cable to connect. Luckily I had one laying around as the instructions that come with the card is quite literally 3 sentences, with nothing explaining the extra PCI cable. If you only have 2 cables, you'll be fine, you just wont get your monies worth...spend the extra $7 and get another power cable. YOU NEED AT LEAST 850W POWER SUPPLY.
    I have an AMD 7950X with a 3-120mm NZXT radiator with nactua fans, a MSI MPG X670E CARBON mobo and the 4080 extreme waterblock. My 850 ROG power supply is more than capable of dishing out the needed power.

    Had a MSI suprim liquid, but the lines coming out the front wouldn't allow me to close the case which hurt thermals on everything else, returned it to find this on NewEgg at MSRP ($250 less then the Amazon scalper I paid for the MSI) waiting for delivery now. My memory temps on Suprim would be about 5-6 degrees Celsius higher than GPU temps.

    • @theclockpit
      @theclockpit  ปีที่แล้ว

      Depending on how hard you push the overclock (if you even plan to), vram can climb into the 70s, gpu in the low 50s with the Hotspot generally 8-10c higher.

    I had the option to buy this within a small window, but I have a ITX case and I was feeling a bit limited in what I could get. I've since decided that I am willing to mount the GPU outside my case and have done so with my original card , I'm still looking for a 4090. I noticed the higher memory temp of the Liquid X, I'd definitely be interested in seeing the memory temps on this card.
    I think there's less interest in this one because of the 360mm radiator and no flashy rgb to to satisfy alot of the new age gamer crowd. It's also at least a 300 add on premium.
    How easy is it to drain/refill or detach the hoses to route thru smaller openings?

    I'm also shocked at the lack of content regarding this card. With everyone complaining (rightly!) about the size and weight of this thing, and case compatibility, you'd think people would be all about telling us there's an alternative, a fully watercooled, 2-slot, 360mm radiator version out there from a reputable AIB partner - but no, radio silence. Anyway, my only important question I now have, is about fan replacement. I would want to set this up with 6 noctuas with push-pull. I won't fancy opening up the card to do that, as this will presumably void the 4yr warranty. So is it possible to do otherwise? It LOOKS like the MSI surprim liquid X (with only a 240mm rad) has connectors on the fan end, and so perhaps that would be easier to change fans on ...

    • @HiteshBhagatGameTech
      @HiteshBhagatGameTech ปีที่แล้ว

      from the looks of it you will have to open up the card to replace the fans as the connectors and inside the block not outside. i dont think your warranty will be void by that, given how reasonable the guys are at the service center.

  • @hypocriticalsmile

    Just watched comparison video for Founders edition, Gigabyte Gaming OC and MSI Suprim Liquid X on Paul's Hardware and was quite disappointed. GPU on Suprim is cooler - 62 against 66 on Gaming OC and 70 on FE. But for some reason VRAM on Suprim gets quite hot - 88 against 66 on Gaming OC and 78 on FE. So looks like this one is the only option for people who wants liquid cooled graphics card. Otherwise Gaming OC looks like a solid choice.

    • @geronimo5537
      @geronimo5537 ปีที่แล้ว

      yeah the suprim is weird. they liquid cooled the main chip. then went through the effort of heat sinking the memory with air cooling. but used crappy pads or something so the memory stay warm for no reason.

    I would love to know the memory junction temps on this thing, I imagine the regular temps will be insanely good but the other liquid cooled card (the MSI, which is a brand I do not trust) had bad memory junction temps. Curious if this one does well at the memory junction.
    It is really annoying also that every TH-camr and tester is spending so much time talking about how expensive the card is, they rarely go in-depth comparing the cards available and detailed stats on temps, memory temp, performance etc for those of us who actually have the money to buy one and are wondering which one to buy...

    Nice video. I'm guessing it's not been talked about much due to the lower power limit. Some games like quake 2 rtx draw more than 520w on other cards. So you know if there is a way to increase it to 600w like the FE and a lot of other cards? Other bios?

    • @theclockpit
      @theclockpit  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I'm not able to find any information on this but if you do find some please pass it my way. As I understand it, this OC version is already boosted beyond the FE spec with an addition 11% available beyond that. I have it maxed, and it doesn't break a sweat in any temp. I have seen it draw 560w for a short moment, 505w regularly. It has potential for more but it seems from pro reviews, there isn't alot to be gained from OC'ing.

      @@theclockpit in your next video could you include GPU z with the 'board power draw' set to Max. Would it great to see it if is going over 500, and even better if it's going close to 600w. Think I would buy based on that alone :). Kombustor using furmark donut 5200mb at high resolution. You could also check by using Quake 2 RTX demo from steam at 200% render resoltion or Metro Exodus Enhanced but Kombustor is is prob the quickest

    • @Qbavision
      @Qbavision ปีที่แล้ว

      None of the cards are hitting 600w all are capping at 500-520 as all Ada’s are volt limited. The 111 is equivalent to fe’s 133 as this card is already OC’ed out of factory (being shipped with 122 power target cooked into bios) check jay2cents video for more info.

    • @puciohenzap891
      @puciohenzap891 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @Nerdbomber that's not correct, 450W * 1.33 is ~600W, Aorus goes up to 450W * 1.11 giving it a ~500W power limit. They all use 450W as base for calculating PL, nothing hiding behind it.
      They are not voltage capped (Vrel) but power (perfcap pwr) capped in heavy gaming/RT/benchmarks. The latest MSI Afterburner in fact can increase the core voltage from 1.05 to 1.10V to help scaling above 3GHz. I've hit over 3120MHz at 1.10V on my Waterforce and over 3030MHz on stock voltage but it's meaningless for benchmarking as the 500W PL will kick in.

      Tubes down is ideal orientation to avoid air gap gurgling at the top of the loop. Either way is ok though as long ad the radiators highest point is above the pump. This is where the small amount of air will collect in the system.

    I'm so tempted to get this model but it is 300 euros more than the gigabyte windforce edition here (2600 vs 2300 euros) and 600 euros more than the 4080 gigabyte aero edition (Which looks way better!). Is it worth the difference? I've also been reading that the fans don't use a standard PWM connector. I guess you can always use a mobo header if you want to change them. Is it possible to swap the direction at least as I would only be able to install the 360mm at the front and they will need to be intakes. Do you mind also posting the dimensions of the rads + fans as gigabyte doesn't seem to share that info? And did you see a performance boost after upgrading the CPU to the 5800x 3d? I just received that CPU and will replace my 5900x with it.

      What you get with this model compared to some others is what should be a quiet experience from a monster gpu that is versatile enough to fit in all cases. Fans don't spin up and down, no rgb. And my unit has been very quiet. I also paid 1899USD which is quite alot less than 2600 euros. Performance wise you don't get anything more with this so take that into consideration. The fan connector is also not standard pwm but pin kits are available to adapt them. The 4080 isn't a value imo, I wouldn't consider it for the prices you're paying.

    I have Meshify C case and Aorus 4090 WF rev.1.0. The idle temp GPU about 40C, memory 48C. Board power draw 75W. Fans 30%.
    Comparing to Aorus 3080 on air this is hot because it have 37C in idle with fans switched off.
    Monitor - 4k60hz.

      Other unboxing videos of this card and the Waterforce 3090Ti reviews (which use the same radiator and fans) do show a three-way fan splitter that runs along the radiator. They are however male GPU fan headers, so the common Molex fan connectors that most fans use will not work. The card needs to be opened up to remove the entire cable assembly and you would need to replace it with a GPU to Molex adapter/fan cable.
