I am just 10 minutes in and already I've seen such a different perspective of the egyptian pyramids compared to other youtubers. I would much rather have this experience than the tours. I'm not sure if gabriel will make a video telling us of the cost and the logistics to arrange this. All in all, you can tell how experienced of a traveler he is and how an OG can flex his creativity on the platform. Thoroughly enjoying this so far

I never realized the pyramids were so close to Cairo. I thought they were way out in the middle of nowhere. They're practically in someone's backyard.

I was visiting Egypt in early November too! The ancient sites are incredible but overall traveling in Egypt is very exhausting in terms of comfort and scams.

Reflex Everyone is constantly asking for "baksheesh" for doing things for you that you never asked for in the first place. For example, you might hail a cab and someone out of the blue will show up to open the door of the cab for you, and then of course want baksheesh. Foreigners are cheated constantly at kiosks, stores, everywhere. Instead of paying $.50 for a roll of toilet paper, you'll get charged $2. Same with water, drinks, anything that's not posted. I wouldn't get too crazy about it, though. It would ruin your trip. Just be prepared to hand over tips for nothing, though. It's a very poor country and every foreigner is seen as rich, and we are compared to the typical Egyptian. There are three classes in Egypt: rich, poor, and poorer. Very little middle class in a country of 80M+.

at least, as a male one, you don't get slapped on your a.. as it happened to me walking around with my husband. it happens so quickly - happened not only once - you can't react in time 😮. Gabriel, this is a wonderful blue sky in this video. I know Cairo only fully dusty😢.

Explore the Svetlin I lived in Cairo for a year and a half in the early 1990s. Went to the Pyramids 3x during my stay, climbed all 3 chambers. Now there's a 4th. Time to go back. An egyptologist told me that they believed there were 7 altogether.

The blocks, the columns, the hieroglyphics, the statues, the seamless placement of all of it, the time, skill, and effort involved!...I think this just proves that people back then were more advanced then we think.

Absolutely great video, Gabriel. The Pyramids and Sphinx have to be one of the most mind boggling places on earth. Just incredible. Like you mentioned, common sense tells me the area WAS very lush during earlier periods when much of the human activity was taking place there. During the earliest constructions. Otherwise it doesn't seem to make sense. And I agree there MUST be an alternate explanation for how the Great Pyramids were built. The widely held beliefs seem impossible. I guess we'll never know. I wish we could.

Looking at the head of the Great Sphinx it almost looks like it was placed in at a later time then the bottom structure was built. Look at around the neck area, you'll notice it.
Also, in that area blocked off by those concrete blocks, not many people know but there is actually a small shaft right there that leads under the sphinx.

After roughing it in Vegas for a couple of weeks, Harald Baldr suddenly appears in Nepal. In his Dec 10 2019 video, $5 Hotel vs $100 Hotel Nepal, at about 15:30, he points to the fancier Hotel Imperial, and says, "that sounds like a place where a high roller like Gabriel Traveler would crash." I have watched your videos for years, and sometimes also watch Harald Baldr and Bald & Bankrupt and some others. It would seem that you all sometimes monitor each other's work. I guess it's unclear exactly how old they are for they're most historical and we don't know that much about them. You picked a beautiful day to go with clear blue sky.

These were 2200 years old when Alexander The Great came here in ~330 BC. I.e. there's almost the same amount of time between him and us, and the pyramids and him. Crazy.

Said another way, if Jesus had been a tourist there they would have been 2,500 years old even then. He is as old to us as the pyramids are to him. A kind of half way mark. I believe it was one of A the Great generals, Ptolemy that stayed in Egypt and started that family line. Cleopatra was the last of that Ptolemy line.

Del Stanley It's said Jesus, Joseph and Mary were in Cairo when Jesus was a baby (Matthew 2:13-23). They fled to Egypt so Jesus would not be killed by Herod.

The pyramids were created by a trolly system- they had a internal spiral tunnel starting from the bottom and twisting up to the top- a retired French architect spent over 10 yrs figuring this out! There is a video on TH-cam!
