    Matt next time get a box of self tapping screws and put them beside each place you want to weld it will pull the metal down tight and give you a nice weld. Just a tip from a old body and frame guy.

    Most channels on TH-cam are starting to get more routine and boring in my opinion. Your channel is doing the opposite. Its becoming even more of the channel its always been and I'm really glad about that. Many channels get successful, which I am definitely glad about, however they just maintain that by putting out these generic videos just to create an income. Your channel always has something different, something new. Proud to see this channel is finding success without losing its roots. Keep it up!

    Xi use self tapping screwy to fit in the floor pan all round, then pull out one at a time and spot weld it, keeps it all in place and gives you a nice spot weld

    Just did the driver side in an Xj. First full pan i have ever replace and im super impressed with myself lol. I drill for spot welds. I find if the hole is to small the hole will fill before you make a good weld to the body.

    Next time try using your wife's cookie sheets to patch the floor board. According to my husband they work great! :-( ....on the plus side, I got new cookie sheets :-)

    Nice job on the floor, well, not pretty but effective. I've done the same thing on an old Monte Carlo but I started with flat sheet and beat the whole thing into place. Then I pop riveted it and put seam sealer on it. Seemed to work o.k.

    • @pferris3591
      @pferris3591 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Khorsathedark - I've done that on a few floors myself. No access to a welder, so screws and, then pop rivet and seam sealer. Might seem ghetto to some, but rivets hold airplanes together! ☺

    • @johnpike9612
      @johnpike9612 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I see you also use a harbor freight welding mask. Have you thought about getting a nicer hood? You do a lot of welding i wonder if it would be worth it. What does a nicer hood really get you though?

    • @bleepinjeep
      @bleepinjeep  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I do need a nice hood, just never ponied up for one... they are more comfy and clear/wider view.

    • @johnpike9612
      @johnpike9612 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      More comfortable, wider more clear view, but also more reliable! I've used 2 cheap hoods before, an auto darkening one and a single shade unit. The auto darkener loved to have dead batteries in the middle of a job and the single shade was an oddball size that I couldn't find new lenses or shades for.
