Chris Watson Its great bud ! I got the engine swap done and it up a running again. Do you still have an MK1? I love the car drive it every day. The body is slowly falling apart however it still runs strong.!
This and That with Chris, Thanks for the reply, Yes it's my pride and joy, had her for 10 years 84 MK1 gti it's my toy, always had a MK1 no matter what cars we have, my first car and fell in love with them then, don't getto drive her often buts very well cared for... Keep up the great work 👍👍
Excellent project. Did that 1980 transmission (transaxle, whatev) bolt right up to that replacement 1.6? What year/model was the replacement 1.6? I've got a few more questions if you have the time. I've rebuilt an 81 or 82 non-turbo 1.6L diesel I found in craigslist. Trying to figure out what I can put it in. -Dave
That feeling tho when you hear your hard work paying off. Does this one smoke on cold starts? Mine does for some reason big cloud of white smoke till it warms up. Not sure what the prob is there other than that it runs like a champ mines an 81 caddy with the 1.6 diesel
