      Hope the video's help! Just take it step by step. It's fairly easy: A bulb needs a positive and negative. Negative is always a straight cable from ground or negative pole of the battery (doesn't really matter). Positive comes from your positive key contactwire and is interrupted by an on/off switch on your handlebar. Connect those, and it works! ☺

    Chief Pep, at the 8:50 mark, you show the brown and red wires from the Reg/Rect. The red wire connects to your fused positive distribution. The brown wire connects to your ignition switched distributed block. I purchased an aftermarket lithium compatible reg/rec, other than the stator wires, it only has 2 wires one red (pos) and one green (neg). My question is since there’s only one positive wire on my reg/rec for power, would you recommend connecting it to the fused power distribution like you did at 9:15 mark (pre-ignition switch) or should I connect it to the ignition switched plus connection on the blue sea distribution block like you did at the 10:18 mark? I am confused.

    • @chiefpepdesign
      @chiefpepdesign  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      To make things less complicated than to try and write it down here, doesn't the 4:30 mark and explination help?

    • @chiefpepdesign

      Sorry I get your question now! Connect the positive to the ignition switched power. 👍

    • @chiefpepdesign
      @chiefpepdesign  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      It doesn't really matter. Either way it gets positive current. And both are eventually main fused. Maybe if you connect it to the ignition switch chances are smaller for power leaks during parking. But it's pretty far fetched. More of an 'ease of mind' thing. 😊

    Pep great video. I’ve watched this video at least 10 times. I have two questions. At 6:07 you add the inline fuse, but both ends of the fuse are connected to the same positive distribution block. How will the fuse work if the entire distribution block is receiving power from the battery? Second question, on your Bluesea fuse block how do you know how many amp fuse to use for each input?

    • @chiefpepdesign
      @chiefpepdesign  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I understand your qeustion. But you have to understand that the black unit itself is not connected to each other. So what I do is I put 12V input in the one end. By the connecting the amped wire I put that power to the other end. And that end is now also 12V but fused. So that block always works like this: one end had permanent 12V unfused, the other end permanent fused. So I attach different leads on those ends. That is why I choose to use such a block (see for instance 8:53) with nuts so I can ad several wires to it depending on if it needs unfused or fused 12V. Second question: This is shown in your service manual (or pause at my scheme that I show in my video's). Rule of thump: If many/heavy lights go through the leads (example headlight or all four signal lights which have a relais) use 15 Amps. Lighter lamps (tail lights/ignition) use 10Amps. If you've calculated wrong and it pops too fast at 10 Amps, try 15 Amps. Those fuses are generally only if you have a short circuit. Don't worrie to much about the amount of amps. Just don't go over 15 amps.

My question for you - can I run my starter solenoid positive wire directly to the positive of my lithium battery? • @chiefpepdesign
      @chiefpepdesign  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I thought I explained this is a video, but I guess not. First of all, I see the M-unit as 'cheating'. Second, the only thing it does is connect the cables. I can do that myself. Third, the M-unit is great if you don't understand, or don't want to put the efforts in to understand wiring. It's so easy if you just do it step by step and after that, it's very satisfying to experience that everything works as it should and knowing you did that yourself. With no 'shortcuts' like a M-unit which costs a fortune for basically nothing...

    • @chiefpepdesign
      @chiefpepdesign  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Well brown is just a fused plus wire which goes on when you turn the ignition key. It gives power to everything you want actually... The fuse/distribution box has two sides. One side is permanent grounded (-) and the other side has plus (positive) power when the ignition is on. There I have some fuse spots empty. Prasad Shetty I am not building a caferacer... I mention in several video's I'm building my own created style kind of streetbike. I call it caferacer for search purpose and because I don't really have a name for it. The handlebar I choose here and the filosofy bevind it I discussed in a previous video. Thanks for the concern anyway! 👍
