@@beroliceberry1224 Big Bang isn't as global as Black Pink but that doesn't define if a company is rich or financial trouble. You said YG was in financial trouble which was not true. Japanese music industry is not global but they still make a lot of money. Big Bang still brought in millions every single day and it's noted in Forbes, Fortune, and several other business news sources. The net worth of each Big Bang members are worth 10-30 million dollars EACH. Can you imagine how much more YG Entertainment earns from them. Yang Hyun Suk was worth close to $100 million with Big Bang alone and worth $200 million with PSY. He's currently now worth over $150 million. I'm not trying to start an argument but I feel you're exaggerating saying that they were in financial trouble. Stock price isn't necessarily everything either. Apple stocks is $155 a share today. That's not that much compared to other corporations but their revenue is 2021 was around $370 billion dollars. YG Entertainment didn't need to have high valued stocks. They still made a lot of money with Big Bang and PSY but they're making even more with Black Pink.

As an extreme introvert, there would be extremely difficult for me to live like SEVENTEEN. I can’t stand too much noise and too many people around me. So glad i finally live alone. It’s amazing how they endured living together.

    • @mehzabeen637

Uhm, this is kinda sad actually. A lot of people actually view Seventeen as a super loud and hyped group, basically how they mostly showcase themselves on camera, but that's really not who they are all the time. Idk what this video says about them, but they're actually a lot more calm, understanding, and considerate towards each other - all the things which allow them to live together to this day. Despite having been asked to live out of dorms by the management, they all collectively agreed to stay together.
Mind you 8/13 Seventeen are introverts, and some of them are extreme introverts and need their own space very often. Members like S.Coups, Jeonghan, Jun, Wonwoo, Woozi, The8 are kind of super introverts. And somehow, most of them have a separate way of living their daily lives that doesn't usually match with another's.
Even so, (and I say this because I've seen them a lot and I've heard them) the boys all understand each other, consider each other's likings and disliking, and adapt as such that nobody feels the need to seek out another place for themselves, and nobody has to feel like their dorm isn't their home.

Reminds me of the time when Bigbang were still rookies and they live in a really cramped apartment filled with rats, roaches etc. The members have to share mattresses in one room for bed and each of them have obligations in the household (cleaning, cooking etc.) There's even a time when they have nothing to eat at their apartment due to their manager or company not giving them food (?) so they tried sneaking into their manager's room and found food hidden from them. Times really change. Thankfully, their new groups don't have to experience that.

Wheein lived with her aunt instead for one of those and said she'd side-eye the hell out of how sketchy the building was. Hwasa was the designated cockroach murderer, cuz the other girls would freak out. When they finally did get a dorm, Solar and Hwasa only had floor mats in their room. The necessity of controlling idols and sell fans the illusion of a family, and bbf culture is the big issue, instead of celebrate a contract with specific rules and NDA which protects both sides, companies waste money and make idols suffer in dirty holes and living with people with whom they often only have a business relationship.

    • @trodat07
      @trodat07 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

It's not about that, having the whole group under one roof is quite logistically convenient. Buying or renting a place might be expensive but on the long term the agency saves a lot of time and resources on controlling the group's routine, schedule and safety. This way, all the members wake up, go to work, go back home and go to sleep at the same time, at least for the first years until the idols mature a bit and earn the agency's trust (let them live in their family homes from day one with the 'pinky promise' they'll fulfill their obligations on time and you'll only get a chaotic mess).
The good relationship most groups do actually have is something that comes along with being professional and sharing the same 24/7 job. Also, it'd seem that 3rd & 4th Gen groups actually have a healthy bond, the cold greedy selfish behavior is not as common nowadays as it was in the previous generations.

Big companies can afford to give better living conditions to their idols right off the bat because of the hard work and success of the idols that came before them. Take any big company and look at their humble beginnings, read the stories of the companies first idols trainee life and living quarters, it's literally the same story. In recent years, nothing has changed except that "Netizens" fail to understand how the world and life works. Every kpop company is on the same journey, you can't compare a company that's on their first step with a company that's on their 85th step.

for big 4th gen groups all the senior artists worked hard to make money for the company and improve the life for future trainees. exo and suju used to live in the same dorm where wayv lived and now aespa lives. During exo's time they couldn't afford furniture, everything was in cardboard boxes or small furnitures. Now in the same dorm there are better facilities.
at the same time it also depends on them. Like wayv had a nice dorm but they don't cleanup regularly. So THAT messy wayv dorm is now aespa's dorm, the girls clean it regularly and it looks so good now. But everything is okay unless the dorm is worse than normal houses.

for me, dorm living might be a necessary evil in this industry for rookies but not for trainees or senior groups. trainees should be able to go home and live a little, senior group members should have more freedom since they already worked hard as rookies and work towards more to their end goals as singer, dancer or actor. Dorm living for rookies is understandable since they're new and have busy schedules. I think a reasonable compromise could be that dorms should be big enough so that each member can have their own room for themselves to relax, and destress.

I was treated better when I was homeless and it was completely free. The only problem I had was that I couldn't properly wash my hair that was very long, but there was 3 different places (including a local hospital) that I could wash my hair. I didn't even have to pay for my bi weekly bang trimming, a very lovely man would cut hair for a couple hours a week at the local Catholic Charity and he kept my hair PERFECT.
At the shelter I had 5 minutes to shower in the evening, it just wasn't enough time. There was over 2 dozen ladies, and not enough hot water. If you were the last 3-4 in line you were forced to bathe in ice cold water.

I feel like living in dorms is generally okay but of course there are some requirements. The place should definetly be clean as in not insects should live there and if the idols don't have time to clean, maybe they need to get a little help from staff or something. The dorm needs to be big enough for the group or in cases of groups like Seventeen I would suggests at least two dorms. Like there shouldn't be more than three members living together in one room (obviously the room needs to be big enough than). Ideal would be if every member got their own room or if only two members shared one. After all, living in dorms isn't uncommon for the general public either and if the dorm is big enough to have a bit of privacy and clean I think it can be really nice to live together. But seeing how cramped some of those dorms are I bet it was extremely stressful and probably strained the relationship of the group.

Abolishing dorms would be a stupid decision for a few reasons. The conditions absolutely need to be drastically improved, but let's not pretend as if Kpop trainees/idols are the only people on earth that have to live in dorms. It's a reality for any child and teenager who's had to attend boarding schools. My first year, I slept 3 to a tiny room, 5 to one bathroom.

I don’t see why these companies don’t see living environments for these artists important.
I feel like it should be one of their priorities.
It probably plays a big part on their mental health too.
They need a place they can come home to, to relax from their hectic schedule. Otherwise, it probably feels like there’s never peace in their lives.
