EVERYONE in the industry gets plastic surgery. It's just a question of how big of a difference it is. If an idol changes gradually over time, the changes aren't as noticeable. It's only when you look at their pre-debut photos from years ago that you'll see they've changed.

The plastic surgery culture is getting out of hand. Honestly, some get good plastic surgery while others just look worse. Kwanghee honestly does not look that bad. The worst surgeries and worst result I would say is 2NE1 Park Boom, Apink Naeun and Namjoo. LIke their faces look plastic and uoriginal.
I have no idea why Naeun even did lot of surgery, when she was praised for her looks. For me she looked the best in PSY New Face mv and now she looks totally different.
Plastic surgery looks fine as long as the face's symmetry is respected. You can do small changes but if you do too much, the face looks unnatural and unbalanced. This is why Karina (Aespa) is likened to an alien these days. Her jaw was shaved off too much. Koreans are obsessed with V shape and high nose bridge when most people look better with an oval shape and unless the nose is very flat or has something unsymmetrical, it shouldn't be touched, because it's easy to mess it up.
It almost feels like Korean society as a whole is compelled to belittle everyone's appearance (especially when they themselves are lacking) no matter what. It's a zero win situation. Just overrun with jealousy and pettiness. You have to be extremely salty to put down beautiful people and say they're ugly or overweight and need surgery.
Lizzy’s story just really breaks my heart… because the industry + netizens really did chew her up and spit her out. It doesn’t help that her company failed her and the other AS members so badly. Like they really did let netizens and bloggers slander these women and make malicious comments about them left + right. They also threw them on shows where the MC’s were notorious for just being scumbags. Like the amount of times they went on shows only for the MC’s to essentially be like “aren’t you jealous that Nana/Uee/Jooyeon are prettier than you?” and other backhanded things. They were all made to feel inadequate and less than constantly which really did numbers on all of them. And before anyone says that I’m making excuses for her DUI I’m not. You can disapprove of someone’s actions while also pitying the things that got them to where they are. Companies need to start protecting their idols and talents! Stop letting them get dragged through the mud and actually have their backs! 🤬

But today's society places too much emphasis on looks and interferes in commenting on a person's "beauty/visual appearance" and it's a little sad because even little kids nowadays are so bothered by it. It almost feels like Korean society as a whole is compelled to belittle everyone's appearance (especially when they themselves are lacking) no matter what. It's a zero win situation. Just overrun with jealousy and pettiness. You have to be extremely salty to put down beautiful people and say they're ugly or overweight and need surgery.
Lizzy’s story just really breaks my heart… because the industry + netizens really did chew her up and spit her out. It doesn’t help that her company failed her and the other AS members so badly. Like they really did let netizens and bloggers slander these women and make malicious comments about them left + right. They also threw them on shows where the MC’s were notorious for just being scumbags. Like the amount of times they went on shows only for the MC’s to essentially be like “aren’t you jealous that Nana/Uee/Jooyeon are prettier than you?” and other backhanded things. They were all made to feel inadequate and less than constantly which really did numbers on all of them. Lizzy used to be so sweet and bubbly when she first debuted… and you just slowly witness that bright girl losing her spark. Hate that she resorted to alcohol to cope too. And before anyone says that I’m making excuses for her DUI I’m not. You can disapprove of someone’s actions while also pitying the things that got them to where they are.

I don't think it's a matter of 'influencing society' but rather of following the deontological code as a doctor. A real professional doesn't profit from people's insecurities, whether shallow or serious (sometimes putting their life at risk), and should rather address the problem as a psychological one.
If you allow people to influence your life, that's a you problem. It is their body, and they can do whatever they want with it.

Cosmetic surgery is a personal choice, its up to them, they are free to do whatever they wish with their own bodies, if it makes them look and feel better about themselves however it doesn't help when they are under such scrutiny as idols in a competitive industry where the perfect image is everything to uphold
They aren't free , it's not really a personal choice , I've heared many ex trainees and idols say they are mostly forced , to the point of them had to get liposuction in their thighs and take many pills that the doctor even said were very dangerous. You can't say it's a personal choice because 99% of the time it's not.

It's bizarre that Knetizens will criticize idols for not being "pretty" enough, only to criticize them for going under the knife to fit Korea's beauty standards. Plastic surgery isn't new and is so common in S. Korea that it's normalised unless you're an idol. Then, for some weird reason, you're demonized for having gone under the knife. This whole forced “beauty standards” thing is disgusting. Everyone is beautiful and handsome, it just depends on individual preferences. You may think A is ugly but I think she/he is beautiful/handsome. It is a common thing like you may like eating raw meat and I don't. But today's society places too much emphasis on looks and interferes in commenting on a person's "beauty/visual appearance" and it's a little sad because even little kids nowadays are so bothered by it.
