I’m still so bitter about what happened with Junhyeok. He didn’t deserve to have his career destroyed because of something like this. It’s petty for fans to bully him out of the group for dating.
I don’t think the situation was as simple as that. If I recall correctly, Junhyeok dating his fan wasn’t his only mistake. The worst part was that he leaked his schedule to the fan/girlfriend, who was a sasaeng. I think JYP had a bigger problem with him leaking his group’s schedule and putting the members in addition to himself at risk of being stalked than with him dating a fan.

In my opinion it really depends on how big of a fan you are. If you just enjoy their music/acting and you have the chance to meet your idol and get to know him better why not? We are all just humans and I think everybody has the privilege to love someone. But if you are one of these toxic and way to much obsessive fan that are dreaming to marry your idol almost every night than girl sorry to tell you this but this won't turn out good.
The only thing I hate the most is hating your idol for being in a relationship or even worser bullying the non celebrity for being in a relationship with your favorite.

The canches are minimal, but even idols can date fans or non celebrities and I don't see a problem in that if they are adults and you can deal with your partners celeb life and responsibilites. Some western celebrities have married non celebrities and are working out pretty fine. Life happens.
That doesn't mean that fans should get their hopes up and think that they for sure will be a partner to an idol or any other celebrity.
Yeah not all idols should just be with other celebrities but there is naturally a power imbalance when it comes to fans to be cautious about. There can be healthy relationships but there are also exploitative ones. Just something to be mindful of.

I see no issue with artists dating fans as long as it's healthy like any other relationship. They are people at the end of the day. The most unfortunate thing is that artists who fall in love get their whole careers flipped upside down and can lose everything; and the non-celebrity partner enters the spotlight they may be uncomfortable with.
My theory is, one can fall in love with anyone as long as it's a human being. Lol

I feel like this is one of those topics where you can't see things as black and white, every case is different and how "wrong" they could be depends on a lot of factors. For example, how much of a fan they are: i think if i was an idol i would be scared of getting in a relationship with someone who knows that much about me before actually meeting them in real life, but if i met someone who has "their own life" and is also an enjoyer of my music, i wouldn't see a problem.
The chances of you dating an K-pop idol are low but never zero

I feel like the whole dating a fan thing needs to be looked at as a case to case thing. Some fans will put their celebrity partner on such a pedestal that it will just never be healthy for either one of them. Others may be able to fall in love with the actual person, not the persona that they have created. It is very hard for a idol-fan relationship to work, but it’s not impossible
I understand sometimes people can’t help but fall in love, but I think it’s inappropriate when celebrities PURPOSELY date their fans. There needs to be boundaries between idols and fans. Idols sell a fantasy and fans pay for the entertainment, nothing more.

i felt very sad about junhyeok when i started stanning day6 and found out what happend to him. i was confused at first because their name says 6 when they're just a five-member group, they were just 5 in the music videos but they were 6 in the congratulations mv. so when i found out that congratulations was their debut song and junhyeok was gone after that, i started searching about him and saw the news about him dating a fan. since then, i really felt sad towards him. his voice was so good. it's actually unique from the members if you will just listen closely. i love his solo song "stay" and i'm now supporting him on his instagram acc nad youtube. he often do live there, interacting with his fans even if he's jogging at dawn. please show your support for him too ^^

If you are fawning over that person and worship them because they are your bias or whatever, then yeah - super weird and it would be a relationship that would easily lend itself towards abuse. However, people are people, even if they are famous. I allow for the fact that it is entirely within the realm of possibility that a fan could meet and speak with the celebrity and discover that they have a lot in common and just hit it off. I don't think that being a fan should disqualify you from dating someone. However, dating them BECAUSE you are a fan definitely should.

It’s a difficult thing… Surely fans should know, that it’s unrealistic to date an idol and would cause to many problems. On the other hand there is much done that the fans fall in love so they spent lots of money for merch and etc.

I sent words of encouragement to one of my favorite KPop idols and he responded. Do I say we are dating? Absolutely not! Do I wish we were? I don't think most fans actually understand how much trouble and stress it is even to be involved in a rumor that you're the fan dating the idol or more famous person (which is reacted to just like you're actually dating them). Like you get hated on and get a lot of stress but none of the fun parts of like actually dating them. And like you can't believe all rumors of a fan dating their idol because some fans have gotten jealous and started those rumors to take down people.

Not too long ago I seen a post on Twitter talking about Kpop Idols dating fans (don't know if it's actual facts or not) BUT they had 3 different type of opinions about idols dating fans....
1.they think that K-pop Idols who date they fans are using the fans for favors( like buying them clothes, shoes, games, giving them money etc.)
2. the idol were already in a relationship with that person before they became a fan or idol and 3. Some of these fans are from rich families so the idol use the fan for connections...

So that one 16 and 21 age gap, I get the whole minor thing. Then I think to my parents age gap (4 years). When they started dating, my dad was an adult and my mom was a minor. (Of course this was back then when it wasn’t like a HUGE MAJOR issue). But if it weren’t for them, I wouldn’t be here c: so I’m just glad they stayed together.

Please do not let this get to your head. Kpop idols will 99.99% of the time date Koreans- as most idols are Korean, all live in Korea, and speak Korean. A lot of idols don’t speak English. As well as, keeping in mind this relationship won’t be healthy. You have to ALWAYS hide it, you can’t go out together, you can’t keep your blinds up and curtains pulled back, you can’t post about them, you hardly see them, you are constantly miles apart- that is not the basis of a healthy relationship AT ALL! it'd be wrong to say that a fan dating their idol and vice versa is 'wrong' . People fall in love, it happens and it's a great thing if it's reciprocated. I think it's all on intent. Many malicious idols may date their fans because they think fans would be easier to persuade in giving into sexual demands and the fans might date the idols to fulfill their sick fantasy, in that case it's horrible. Another case is dating underage, that needs no justification to say why it's wrong but anything other than that, I don't see any reason why people shouldn't date whoever they like. If someone likes someone, they see them and they feel a spark and want to get to know the other better and they do and fall in love and want to continue that relationship, I am all up supporting it. It isn't wrong nor scandalous. They are humans, they're allowed to date whoever they like. If the said partner is mature enough to deal with everything that comes with dating a public figure and understands their position and there isn't any kind of power dynamic working where one has power over the other, it isn't wrong by any means
My cousin's middle school friend's older sister got married with a renowned national tv actor ( Bangladesh) who the sister was quite a big fan of. She met the actor during a show held at her university and she was a part of the team that prepared the show so she got to meet the actor backstage and took a picture with him and even had a lovely conversation, nothing went past that and she was happy to meet someone she really liked and admired. Moved on with her life, the actor had a big break in a movie after which he quit acting and started working behind the cameras as something I don't really know, I can't remember the guys name but he was pretty famous back in early 2000s. A year or two later, both the girl and that actor accidentally bumped into each other at another place and apparently the guy remembered her and thought she was too pretty to be forgotten (very smooth of him) they kinda sorta flirted, nonetheless their story went further from that point after the guy treated her to a beverage, he asked her out for a day out with him, they went on dates and stuff and got to know each other. They went on to date for 2 year before tying the know and now are married for about 7 years I think and have two lovely kids.
In my perspective, I don't think it's something that's wrong, just a bit complicated but who cares, it's their life. It's better if celebrities date non-celebrities, if they break up, the drama is less
I feel really bad for the ex- DAY6 member and Kwangjin. Not trying to throw hate here but if Junhyeok's close friend didn't post all that stuff to brag about being close with a DAY6 member, and actually thought about what possible damage it could do if she posted those pictures, Junhyeok still would've been in DAY6 because he wouldn't have been caught up in a dating controversy. But at the same time, the fans are at fault too because they attacked them both maliciously wihtout knowing the full story. She could have been a family member! As for Kwangjin, it just shows that dating a fan isn't really the best thing. The fans were at fault here. They were supposed to support him not bully him and his girlfriend. Some kpop stans truly are ruthless.
So of y’all in the comments don’t make any sense it’s clearly a possibility and it’s nothing wrong with that and not to just y’all hopes up a lot of idols have or is dating fans and there is nothing wrong with that

Honestly, idols aka NORMAL HUMANS just with fame, want to date fans who are also NORMAL HUMANS, just some are psycho, then let them. But first idols need to put fans in their place and set boundaries so that they can STOP thinking that they own them. Otherwise they will never be able to live happy normal lives until they're out of the spotlight

tbh i see nothing wrong with celebs dating fans as long as the fans are in it for the right reason aka they actually feel romantically attracted to them cause you really can't help who you fall for

Idols must avoid the risk of dating rumors getting out and the best way is to not date because somehow the truth always comes out. But it's a hard sacrifice to being an Idol so they must choose what's more important to them dating or career.

He ultimately had to leave the group because it was proven he lied to fans about their relationship AND since he was dating the fanclub leader, he was also involved with how the fanclub was managed so all the problems from that were partly his fault. If I remember correctly, Sunghoon and his girlfriend were taking money from the fanclub or something similar. It was a major scandal when it blew up and it was right as Sechskies was starting to comeback under YG entertainment. In his apology letter, he admitted to the relationship. I'm really confused why the video ended without any of that.
