      This is the thing that i don't like. Making your own rule book and applying those rules to everyone. It is great if someone Was privileged enough to be liked and loved by everyone and never had any haters but this might not be same with everyone. People who are not celebrities still have haters. Some people always have those figures in their mind who look down upon them, they might be their friends, bully or their own family members. And someone who is an artist will obviously use their art to express their frustration for those kind of poeple. I can't believe there are people who look down on those trainees who wrote diss tracks.

      I think it's also worth taking into account how young idols can be when they debut. It's probably easier for teenagers to fall victim to the celebrity disease as they're still developing mentally and they're being given a lot more power than most children would have. I see a lot of people now going after Wonyoung for a supposed celebrity disease and considering the fact that she's only 17 it's entirely possible that she is, but will most likely grow out of it just like Somi.

    I used to work in advertising and have met a few of my country's celebrities, one of them was really popular and he's really very kind and super polite, we were shooting a commercial and at some point I told him that he was the nicest celebrity I've met (I've met a few who treated us like dirt) and asked him how do people like him stay grounded. He said he cleans his bathroom regularly, "cleaning my toilet bowl always reminds me that I'm not above anyone" he would also do his own laundry and cooking "don't allow anyone to do everything for you when you can do it yourself". the way that somi was able to admit she was falling into that is really respectable. I see a lot of younger idols falling into this especially when they become deemed as "monster rookies." It's actually what I think netizens see in Iz*one/IVE's Wonyoung because she debuted at such a young age and won pd48 at rank 1. I think though people should give her some slack or at least time to mature because honestly, the idol industry stunts the emotional growth of a lot of these minors. She can still change.

There's a multitude of content from IZ*ONE days, in which no one had an issue with her then & she acts practically the same as now. She's a kid, she's been in the idol industry since she was like 12- does she have attitude problems? Honestly, we don't know & never will. She never shows it in front of cameras, she's always kind in public, she's never disrespected fans or members, she seems like an overall nice girl. I'm almost positive most of this hate is coming from people mad she's the center of a monster rookie group, she's pretty (idc abt plastic surgery btw), she seems sweet, she's almost 100% going into "it" girl territory (its cringe to even call anyone an it girl, lol), & she's not untalented. IS2G y'all literally camp her videos, posts, etc just to find something to cry and complain about. if you hate her then...ignore her? It screams jealousy the way y'all come for this kid. If she's really this horrible person, only time will tell & it'll come out on it's own. As of now, I don't think clawing at random miniscule things is making you look good. But imo? Wonyo seems like a sweet girl who's doing her best with what she's been given.

    Remaining humble while living the famous life is not easy for some. It's easy for others to get swept up in the limelight. For others, remaining humble takes effort that is put in daily. It's a constant personal reflection everyday one goes through everyday. Everyone is human, mistakes are made, but, when one falls from their mistakes (in this case the "celebrity disease") it's how they overcome it. It also requires having humble people around you and meeting other humble people. The ones that don't change are the ones that will always be selfish, self-centered, and self-righteous; Vanity will be their driving force. There is no easy way to avoid the " celebrity disease ", celebrities have to constantly work to remain humble or work to get there. Time only tells who is humble which fans have to deal with. And sometimes fans feed the flame of the "celebrity disease" and enable it too. There are a lot of factors.

      That may have been the case a long time ago but not now, they appear on variety to promote their comebacks or other activities. Now it's just a regular promoting strategy. Or they appear bc the PD or casts specifically requested/invited them. Honestly majority of the artists, actors and actresses are the reason some of these variety shows even maintain stable ratings but agreed you never know 100% how they are off camera

    • @Lizzy_Kim
      @Lizzy_Kim 3 ปีที่แล้ว +18

      Honestly, I don't think that's the case. Variety shows have always existed to promote the celebrities, one way or another. And before social media, it was the only way fans could have content of their idols. Back in the day there was only the group/celebrity fancafe, nothing more. So they HAD to go to shows, the more the better.
      I remember that it was actually YGEnt, or more likely the idols from that company, that started this "we are artists, not entertainers" thing when they were invited to shows like Running Man or Infinity Challenge (I can't remember who actually said it, tho. It was too many years ago). They were classified as "VIP idols" after that, so people started to believe that idols that go to variety shows "to make a fool of themselves" weren't "real/good" idols like them.

    • @mel.2939
      @mel.2939 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@Lizzy_Kim I guess when you put it that way that is also true kind of but variety shows weren't always just to solely promote though back then. As you said it was also just how fans could be able to see their groups more and have some content especially before SNS, not really just for promoting. It was the best way for them to be known and seen by fans in general.
      I was mainly pointing out that these days it's mostly just to promote comebacks and/or new dramas bc now there are plenty of other ways to get extra content to fans that not everyone even sees the need to guest on tv network variety shows as often anymore when they're able to make their own varitey shows on online platforms instead. The only time I really think idols go on to boost their popularity is when they just debuted and need that exposure and interaction for content to gain fans. Other than that it's just promoting comebacks and other activities that are just starting up
      Artists going on variety show has stopped being believed as "making a fool of themselves" a while ago, If anything Artists who are going on variety shows or picked as fixed guest are thought to be really popular/fan favorites and making a difference in the shows viewer ratings now.

    For the “other” side, is there a term for “fan” disease. Overly critical, accuse of being lazy if don’t move as “sharply” as other members, criticize for being too thin or too heavy, feel it’s their duty (because maybe they studied a little or they just “know”) to point out an idol got plastic surgery (obvious in their mind), accuse not showing respect for not bowing (they may have bowed earlier or after clip), threaten to boycott because dating or getting married, etc. The list of bad behaviors by “fans” is endless.

    I think the best thing for these idols, are strict entertainments (I am not talking about those really bad ones, that seriously mistreat their idols). Like SM. Everytime I see a video talking about rude idols and such, they are always mentioning SM artists and how humble and nice they are.
    If you look to other countries and child stars. It has been very rough for many of them, with too little guidance and people not really looking after them. In kpop, with restrictions on what they can and can’t do, they have focus on their work and career, they are taught how to behave and they have guidance. It’s not easy for them to go out and hang with the wrong crowd, party too much and be adored by people that only want them for their fame.
    Let’s just agree that fame comes with a price, and it isn’t really healthy to become famous at an early age. Debuting as early as some idols do, can mess with their heads. So hopefully most have people around them, to pull them down from their entitlement, if they get a piece of celebrity decease.

      Yeah so far from the many variety shows,realityshows and talkshows ive watch if its being humble and kind groups people seem to always mention at least one or two sm groups or artist.. Suju, Snsd are on top of the list tvxq too especially Uknow, Shinee and RV’s wendy too and many more.
      Example of these are when
      Snsd and shinee are the only one who didnt judge t-ara when they got a issue of bullying that wasnt true. Suju was the only one who acknowledged and bow to KARD this was mentioned by BM in their podcast. SNSD got an article of themselves for bowing 90 degrees to their hobaes even when they were at the peak of their careers that time the article was release. I also heard that RV took care of a fan on an event even when the camera wasnt rolling. I guess it’s because company like sm humbles you since its full of talented people.
      I must say though we can all agree that heechul got a narcissistic sickness in his early years and we all know that he grew out of it. 😂

Also GD (i love how he still respect even his juniors even tho he is much more senior and popular),Sandara (idk but i feel like he always down to earth even now) and maybe Nickhun? (this guy always looks so soft and polite)
    It might be normal cases as Somi's said, but still depend on how idols overcome it. If they just let it slide and keep that bad behaviour just like Kang Sunghoon, it might become new habits that hard to remove after years. But if they decided to fix it just like Somi did, they will become more mature and better than before. I would say Somi is so brave and mature at such young age, she think very carefully♥️

    I feel like the only way to not get the celebrity disease is the humble yourself no matter how far.you are into it just humble yourself and remember where you come from. This is easier for idols who clawed their way to the top who understand what its like to have everything but also have nothing. I feel like V from BTS is a good example, he lived with his grandparents on a farm away from the city, he didn't even audition and he got in. At first he was though of as staff but was soon realized for his talents by the company who hired him and then bts started to become popular and gained a lot of fans and they were constantly in the spot light. He is definitely a humble person and very caring I mean I could go on about the nice things he has done to and for his other members but strangers as well. I feel like he and the members of BTS are prime examples of how idols should act towards others around their members and just other people in general and there are lots of other idols besides Kim Taehyung and other BTS members but thats all I have to say😅
